After playing through the Old Testament courses in the mini golf center, I think I will be converting to Islam. :-) The course was so dirty, covered with leaves and acorns that it was almost impossible to play. You’d better bring a flask or a blunt and if your feeling frisky you can have sex behind a waterfall(course #3, hole#10 «he’s alive»).

I’m not sure if I’m a fan because this was my first time ice skating and I discovered that I love it, but this place was just so much fun! We were there for around two hours, skating in circles — I’m actually not entirely sure why it was fun, but I could have stayed there for the rest of the night. There were a lot of varying levels of proficiency, so I definitely didn’t feel left out while I was wobbling around on the ice! The lockers are a quarter each(insanely cheap, at least by Chicago standards), although apparently the rentals had gone up in price recently(to $ 9.75). I would definitely, definitely come back here.

First off, let me say that it takes alot for me to post a poor review for a business. If i get poor service once, i’ll typically keep my mouth shut and give the business another chance. This review for the Lexington Ice Center is after 2 plus years of repeatedly sub par performance. The learn to skate program here is so poorly run(it isn’t run by the ice center, but by an outside organization) that I would NEVER recommend it to anyone. Over the last couple of years, our daughter has gone through the first 6 learn to skate sessions, and has never had a consistent teacher. In fact each week you never know who will be teaching. Sometimes they just grab a high school age skater at the last minute and throw them in with a group of kids as the instructor. Poorly managed program with even worse communication. Save your money and time, the drive to Louisville or Cincinnati will be worth it. The ice facility itself in Lexington is also pretty no frills. Frozen water that you can skate on, that’s about it. Pretty worn down atmosphere. 1 star for the facility, zero stars for the learn to skate program, only because I can’t give negative stars.

Pssst — hey dudes… sidebar here. We all know girls love ice skating. It’s okay if you don’t know how to. In fact, it can play to your advantage to have them see you trying so hard. They may call it «sweet», or «adorable». Little do they know! Anyway, ice skating can be a good time. You ever slide around the kitchen floor after you mop it with Pledge? Yeah, it’s like that. Girls get to live out their fantasy of being an Olympic Figure Skater. You get to wear blades on your feet. It’s a win-win here. Ehem, anyway. Lexington Ice and Recreation Center is a pretty cool place.(ha!) Granted, it is the only ice skating rink in the city. But the rates are reasonable, they have arcade machines, and if you are very lucky, you get to see the Zamboni drive around. Also right outside is the coolest Putt-Putt course you will ever set your eyes on. I use«coolest» liberally. LIRC has Jesus Golf. It’s divided into 3 courses, Old Testament, New Testament, and Miracles. The different designs of the greens are supposed to represent the accompanying passages, though some take a real leap of faith.(ha, more puns!) If you are religious, I’m sure you will appreciate their message. If you’re not religious, I’m sure you will appreciate making fun of how corny it is. Regardless of its religious nature, this is not your kiddie Putt-Putt. Mount Sinai is a BITCH.
