Hit and Run Sports and Games

Not exactly a «Worst Named Business», but I would classify it as among the most «Unfortunate Signage Juxtapositions» ever seen. The Hit & Run sign is placed right above one for Pet Behavior Dog Training — creating the disturbing suggestion that dogs are hit (and subsequently run in fear) as part of the training.

Hit and run has a good selection of magic cards, board games, and general nerd supplies. They host card game tournaments, which is definitely a plus. Hit and run has been in several locations, and this location feels like less spacious than previous stores (I think because of the wall that separates the retail space from the gaming space). That said, it is seems like a good place to hang out and play some card games.

This is a place I have randomly passed by on my way to some meetings in Lexington Center. Staff is nice, but I fear… this is not a place I’ll ever head to. Mostly because of the environment. Every time I walked in, it was a cacophany of children… and a small number of adults playing Pokemon. Picture stepping into a high-​ceilinged room with reverberating accoustics, and the instrument of choice is about five dozen pre-​teens screaming out names of Pokemon. And it makes you stop and consider what kind of adult can endure PLAYING the game, for that matter, any why they still do… I… do not understand!!! Sitting in front of a 6-​year-​old and mercilessly playing them in a card game… Ugh! Meanwhile, the parents are all at one table, crotcheting, reading, a book, doing anything to distract themselves from the organized chaos.
The selection of MTG is basic, and the overall selection is not particularly unique. It stocks general gaming supplies, but nothing unusual to me. It seems like a selection you would find at any Newbury Comics, save for the sports memorabilia collector. It is the only gaming store for a long distance, however.
