This spa does have a nice atmosphere; I had a very good first impression. However, it went downhill quickly. I was told to expect the appointment to last about an hour, but I ended up being there for nearly four hours. I wouldn’t want to be rushed, but this seemed extremely excessive. Throughout the process, the technician would apply different products to my face and then tell me that she would return in ten minutes – twenty minutes would pass before she finally came back to my room. This continued for the duration of the appointment. I really started to lose patience, as I had other things planned for the evening and didn’t expect a facial to last for four hours. I’m fairly certain that the owner lives on this property as well, as it seemed like she was running back and forth to her home throughout my appointment(she completely left the salon several times). I’m a patient person and wouldn’t have minded this to an extent, but it was really excessive and unprofessional. Speaking of unprofessional, the technician took a phone call during my facial. I was paying for a relaxing experience, and listening to a several-minute-long phone conversation is not my idea of relaxing. She was literally massaging my face while talking on the phone. As the customer, I felt as if I was not the priority; this is not a good impression for a customer to have. Despite the extremely drawn-out process, I was pleased with the results of my facial. The owner/technician was rather relentless with her attempts to push me to purchase additional products, though. I understand that she was(in theory) trying to help me achieve the best results, but as someone who has worked in sales in the past, I know a thinly veiled attempt at upselling when I see one. It was bordering on obnoxious – for every product that I declined, she seemed to pitch two more. It wasn’t a completely terrible experience, but I won’t be back. Unfortunately, there aren’t many other spas in the area to choose from. However, after doing a bit of research online, I did find that other spas offer the same services for significantly less(in some cases, less than half the price of Serenity). Traveling a little further for a better experience and a more reasonably-priced alternative seems like the better option for me.
