I love GENJI on Sawmill Road so when I saw this place I had to try it. everything was relatively fresh when we went to pick up dinner. The portions were good and prices lower than the actual sit down restaurant. Note the name– Genji GO– the food is intended to be picked up and taken to eat at home, its not designed to be sit-down. And of course they have the yum yum sauce!

I expected a stir fry. I got rice(lots) that was pre cooked. Paid extra for veggies that were pre cooked and had shrimp that was cooked on the flat top. No seasoning but the rice was so salty I couldn’t eat it. Will NOT be back

Skip Gengi Go. They have 9 bar stools that face a wall; ONE table with two chairs… Clearly, they don’t want you to stay. Food is always cold/pre-made and the nickel and dime you for everything($ 1.00/vegetable; $ 1.00 per Yum Yum Sauce). And no water in the soda machine! My kids brought in their own water bottles– You have to buy a bottled water for $ 1.75. Family behind us had to hold a baby on their lap while eating at the bar(b/c only one table). Cheap, greedy owner!!! If I’m going to pay this much for salty, Japanese Steakhouse food, might as well go to the real thing. So unfortunate as I really, really want to love this place :-( Update as of 11÷17÷15: this place took pieces of paper and covered up their old menu prices to raise prices. Shady. Why be in the restaurant business if you hate people?

We were going here quite a bit to diversify our chipotle obsession. Food was good but over time we noticed our hearts raced, usually a sign on bad ingredients in the sauce. Haven’t been back in a long time and found BibiBop as a healthier alternative.

Is what it says it is. Has the same food as Genji but also provides it TOGO. As a result of the TOGO premise, this place isn’t somewhere to enjoy sitting at. With that being said, it was tolerable for my husband, myself, and our 8 month old to sit down and get a quick, tasty meal. They nickel and dime on the veggies but it will still end up being cheaper than going to a sit down hibachi place. If u really want to save money, do a combo meat, add a couple veggies, double the rice and share. I will be returning to get my hibachi fix without a wait. Also, YUMYUM sauce was thick and creamy when we went so maybe they have fixed some complaints of previous reviewers.

The food is ehh… Nothing to write home about but not terrible. I dislike the fact that the food is cold and kinda fast foodish. The food is pretty much tasteless and you have to pay a dollar for every vegetable. The yum yum sauce was runny like water! If you expect this to be the same quality as formal Hibachi restaurants you will be disappointed. Not really worth the money.

I was very exited when I saw this new location on my side of town. I have eaten at both sit down Genji restaurants and have eaten at the east side Main Street Genji Go location. I have always been a fan of Genji. I am sad to say I was disappointed with this new location after my first visit. The service was lack luster, the portions weren’t what they usually are, and the yum yum sauce was runny and didn’t taste like yum yum normally tastes. The food was just simply not up to Genji standards and after spending $ 50.00 on dinner for my family I expected it to be what I’m used to. I hope this is just an issue of this being a new location and they will have better service and quality in the future. I will give them one more chance since it is Genji and I know their quality is usually much better.
