Went to Ya Ya’s today for lunch. Had a tasty chicken fajita wrap and a coconut filled chocolate cupcake. Excellent food. Good prices. Sweet people took care of our group.

So it’s been awhile since I’ve been back to YaYa’s. I really wanted to see their new location and try some more cupcakes. What I really enjoyed in the previous location were the great prices. A cupcake was $ 1.75 and I was happy to see that the prices stayed the same. Though the cupcakes aren’t huge the price tag fits perfectly. They do make jumbo red velvet cupcakes which are $ 2.75 and the specialty flavors are $ 2. The new store is really nice and large. It felt warm and inviting and I really liked the décor. There were tables to sit at and enjoy your goodies as well as a couch to lounge if you wanted to. While the store itself is really nice, the location is really something else. Now, I’ve never been to that shopping center but my goodness, that is the sorriest shopping center I have ever seen. The new change that I really liked was a menu board. At the previous store the cupcakes were either unlabeled and you had to ask what they were or they were labeled with a little card. This made it so you knew exactly what they had which was good. Another change I liked was the increase in variety of the menu. The couple of times I went before at the old locations it seemed that they only ever had 5 different cupcakes. Having a larger variety made it feel like a more upscale cupcakery. While I was waiting I noticed a lack of beverages. Maybe the cooler was in the back? What they should do and maybe they will do when they get more popular and have a constant stream of customers is to include coffees and drinks in the menu. Make it more of a place where you want to sit and enjoy your cupcake while sipping on a mocha. Anyways, let’s move onto the cupcakes. Ya Ya’s has the best red velvet cupcakes I ever had. Now, I know it’s been several months since I’ve been back but though it is still yummy I swear it’s not as delicious as I remembered it to be. The double strawberry cupcake wasn’t bursting with as much strawberry flavor I thought it would. It was my hubby’s cupcake and he described it as having a really subtle flavor. Now, subtle I can understand if the icing or just the cake had strawberry flavoring. But this was a double strawberry cupcake: both the icing and cake had strawberry flavoring. That means it should’ve been bursting but it wasn’t. The Italian crème was ‘eh’. The walnut flavor came out a lot stronger than the coconut flavor which I didn’t expect. Overall, it was an alright visit. I do love the changes though. However, when compared to the more ‘upscale’ and ‘pricier’ cupcake places I find Ya Ya’s to just be that– ‘OK’.
