Ok so been eating Haywards for over 30 years. New place is very small(dive). Had the rib/burnt end special today it was 14.95 plus drink ! Burnt ends were heavy smoke and bark. Only had about 8 burnt ends and half were fat or to hard(dry). Ribs were tender, with heavy smoke. Orings were good, but not very many. Overall they are overpriced on all menu items. This place doesn’t have the overhead jack stack or Kansas City joes has and their prices are as high or higher. Side dish quantity is low . If they are going to put out Burnt ends on a special or anytime, they need to select very good pieces from the point. Quality is everything ! Bark is way to heavy and smoke needs to be dialed back a bit. I was hoping for better quality honestly and just wasn’t there. Also, they need to make their own ranch salad dressing, cmon guys!!! Service was excellent !

Burnt ends? More like chewy ends; was only able to eat 2 pieces before giving up. Salad was literally just lettuce with a cup of dressing, no cheese, no croutons, etc. The brisket is okay, but the fat didn’t do it any good either. Oddly enough, the turkey was the best part, good smokiness and tender. Not sure if the food quality is just this lackluster or what? But with Zarda right down the street… I’m not entirely sure why you would eat here. It’s sad because I had high hopes given that it’s right down the street from where I live, but it really just isn’t that good and especially not for the price. It’s a definite plus that the staff is friendly and attentive, but the food is below average.

Such a bummer since they just opened up a couple of blocks from work. I got a large garden salad with Ranch dressing and was disappointed. The salad is overpriced for what little is on it: about 1 tsp cheese, two cherry tomatoes, two limp cucumbers, then a handful of lettuce. The Ranch is from a bottle and not a tasty one. I guess I am used to the homemade Ranch at Zarda’s, which is also right over here. I did not end up eating the salad because the lettuce was brown, frozen in some spots, and had a weird smell. I did not feel like dealing with the hassle to return it. I get this is a BBQ joint and that vegetables are not their primary offering; however, for $ 10 I would expect a bit more or just do not offer salad. I did try the beans and they were O.K. I will probably stick to Zarda’s.

My sandwich lunch special was delicious. The generous amount of sliced brisket was lean, and tasty, The beans were good, with chunks of meat mixed in, and the cole slaw was crunchy, and flavorful. I also enjoyed a sample of wonderful, tangy, cheesy corn. Two sauce options were available — original and spicy. The service was friendly, attentive, and fast, while the dining area was clean, with TVs and background music. Very nice.
