Where to start with this review. ½ of ½ could be a diamond in the rough, but you’ll have to sort through A LOT of coal to get there. This place has a «warehousey» feel to it and is jam packed with clothing from wall to wall. The mens section is huge. The womens section is larger. Prices are comparable to TJ Maxx and Marshalls toward the front of the store, but you begin to find some deep reaching discounts if you venture to the back of the store for pink, yellow, and blue tag sales. Some of the stuff is still of high quality with tags still on. Other garments have noticeable defects, stains, or other quality issues. I walked out without any purchases, but easily could have picked up numerous steals. 4 dollar shirts, 15 dollar dress pants, etc… One of the largest selections of clothing are rejected or seemingly donated sports gear. I googled a couple team names and was surprised to see lacrosse leagues from upstate New York or random liberal arts colleges in Pennsylvania. How this stuff made its way to Kansas City is beyond me. I’m not going to hurry back but would definitely consider it if I needed some quick fix clothing at a decent price.

When Lydia A. began her review by stating that this place is «terrifying» I thought it was a gross exaggeration. But after shopping here, I know exactly what she meant. I walked in and was overwhelmed by the(1) Size of the place — It’s a huge warehouse full of STUFF… and(2) Amount of racks filling every nook and cranny of this warehouse. I began with the smaller, round racks towards the front of the store. My impression is that this is a surplus store. Things are new, and brand name, but likely overstock from department stores. Everything is organized by size, and type of item(short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, jeans, etc.), and not much else. So every rack has a wide range of styles and brands. I got through a handful of round racks and about 2 of the long racks until I had a armful of items I needed to try on. After I decided to keep some items, I proceeded to the section in the far right corner. The items are color coded to indicate the price/discount amount, I believe it was white and pink. I realized that most of these items were(1) deeply discounted and(2) damaged. I saw some things I liked that did not appear to be damaged, so I took them into the dressing room. Unfortunately, I immediately noticed the damage after trying EVERY item on, so I put them back. Most of the items could be fixed by a person who sews, rather than stains, etc. After looking at sportswear and shoes, I decided I was too burnt to explore the rest of the store. I only got through HALF of the entire store. I approached the register with one woman in front of me. At the end of her transaction, she had 2 heaping bags full of clothing, and her total was around $ 14! I got 5 items(3 shirts and 2 pairs of jeans) for $ 50. I thought this was a good deal until I saw the lady in front of me, and until the cashier said, «Wow, you didn’t really get any deals today!» LOL. I will definitely come back here, but as my only outing for the day. This visit I came straight from the mall and was not ready for such an overwhelming store.

The store was just okay. It’s huge and filled wall to wall with clothes. The prices are good and deals could be had BUT you have have to inspect the clothes because they could be damaged. And it takes forever to dig through all the clothes. So if you be prepared to spend sometime there.

I was so surprised all my clothes was 50% off when I checked out. the 20″ suitcase of Americantour is only $ 9.5 with very good dad likes the case very much and he need a small case for weekend travel. All my T shirts is about $ 3 – 7.but you have to take time and check each on carefully. Some clothes were damaged lot. Good place to recommend.

I really dig NBC. My wife turned me on to this place when it was across the street years and years ago. In those days, this was the only way I could afford to shop for new clothes whenever I wanted. Now I have been incredibly spoiled by the deals I have gotten here so I still come back. I’m not cheap by any means, but I really have a hard time paying full retail for anything. Daddy likes a good deal! I work from home now so I haven’t done much shopping here in the last year or so. For mens clothes I tend to gravitate more towards their casual offerings, like polo shirts and khaki pants. They have a wide selection of jeans. More brands and fits than you can imagine. But like other reviewers have said– everything here takes time. My mom hates it here and says its like a giant thrift store but worse. This place is truly intimidating and scary. But don’t listen to my mom. She doesn’t like anything! Here is my strategy… Everything is loosely organized by size.(emphasis on the word loosely) So I am as thorough in my search as time allows. Typically I start two sizes before my targeted size and shove everything down as far to the right as I can. Then one by one I slide the shirts, shorts, sweaters, or pants down. I do it quickly and efficiently. I check the label at the collar for size and brand. If the item is in the size I’m looking for, then I consider the brand. The brand will dictate how much I am willing to pay and what I am willing to put up with or repair. If the size is right and I like the garment I give it a real good look over. Are all of the buttons in the right places? What about holes and stains? Do the zippers work? I check all of the seams and turn the pockets inside out. I throw anything I think I may want into my cart, and make cuts later. I can usually get through a few racks pretty fast! My technique works! Here’s why I go through all of that… On today’s trip I had found several Ralph Lauren Polo shirts(long and short sleeve) into my cart. No stains, no tears, not stretched, and all of the buttons where intact. Most of them were marked $ 20. Then I made my way over to the slacks. There I found the flawless slacks to a Calvin Klein suit with the tags still on them, marked for sale at Macy’s at $ 650 for $ 30. On that same rack I also found Burberry slacks for $ 19. I found a tear in the seat of the pants, so they stayed on the rack. But man, for a few seconds I thought I was going to be the proud owner of discounted Burberry pants! I decided I have enough polos in Bobby’s Closet of Fashion, so I put them all back and decided on a new button up shirt for $ 15. It is from the Macy’s INC line so no huge bargain here, but all in all, a nice shirt. And since I don’t have any special event that requires new slacks, those Calvin Kliens got put back too. There are excellent bargains to be had here. With a little time and perseverance you can score some too!

This place is terrifying. TERRIFYING. But if you buck up and put on your brave shopper face, you can find some amazing things here. Don’t go looking for anything in particular, and keep an open mind. By that I mean both«don’t look for a particular blouse» and«don’t look for a particular item of clothing in any one spot.» Seriously, I cannot tell how this place is organized, or if they even try. It’s one step up from those places where you just dig through bins to find clothes. At least these clothes are on hangers(kind of… most of the time), but there is no rhyme or reason to their placement. The awesome thing about it is that(possibly because of the adventure atmosphere created by the haphazard stock) there’s this camaraderie of the customers and sales staff. It’s like everyone’s thinking«we’re all in this together!» I shared a couple jokes across the aisles with some women shopping for an upcoming wedding, and commiserated with another woman about a squalling baby on the other side of the store. The sales staff was friendly and our checkout girl was upbeat and chipper, despite having to work all day in a store with the AC on the blink. If you have the time, energy, and stamina, ½ of ½ might yield some treasures. If you’re the type to prefer to shell out a couple bucks more for pristine clothes and organization, stay away(I’m looking at you, Joi B)! I’ll definitely go back. Next time, though, it’ll be my first(and possibly only) stop. This is a store that even the most hearty, seasoned shopper doesn’t want to hit late in the day when you’re already a little weary.

As other reviewers have mentioned, you need patience here. Every week there’s some different stuff, so if you don’t find what you want one week, it might be there the next! Best day to go is Wednesday, after they’ve restocked. You do need to be careful here — many items are damaged or stained, so look at everything you’re interested in very carefully. Some things can be fixed, but others can’t and I don’t know why they stock unsaleable merchandise. Still, there are finds to be made here. My mom really likes ½ of ½, but she’s a patient shopper and usually isn’t looking for something in particular. She enjoys the browsing! She turned someone else on to it just the other day who apparently found a great winter coat for $ 20 that’s she’s in love with, so there you have it. For men’s stuff I’ve had better luck, overall, at Marshall’s or even thrift shops, but I have found some things here. And you never know when they’re going to make a major buy of stuff that may be what you’re looking for! Note that they use a color-coded tag system to mark merchandise by when it came in and they cut the prices on different colors on a regular basis to keep the merchandise moving. To find it: The store is on Marshall Drive, the west frontage road of I-35, just south of 87th Street. Just turn onto Marshall from 87th and head south and you’ll come to it.

I still use a coat that I got from this place when it was at it’s old location across the highway more than decade ago. I bowed to the clothes gods when they finally moved to the bigger location that it is now. I don’t go here all the time. When I do, it seems they are upgrading another part of the store to add more stuff. The discounts at this place have always been nice. It’s just a hassle to find something you need. When you do you feel like you’ve won the lottery. My roomie actually found her maid of honor dress here. If you are not scared of a sewing machine or at least a needle and thread. You may find even more gems as little mess ups, the majority people will skip over. They also have a special day/times and newsletters/postcards for their vips. Which you sign up with your phone number.

Patience is definitely the order of the day for this store. It isn’t exactly organized very well, in my opinion, but it has a HUGE selection of women’s clothes of all sizes and departments. Make sure to look around and you’ll find more racks of clothes that you thought you had already seen. I picked up a cute blouse and new name brand jeans for under $ 20. Other times I have found some cute work clothes. There really are a lot of name brand clothes here; however, on some the tags are cut out, so you are going by whatever the size on the tag is… so make sure to try them on. The fitting rooms weren’t bad; of course, with no attendant in sight, there were a LOT of clothes in them. The wait wasn’t too bad at the check out line; some time when I have more patience, and it’s not a full moon, I’ll be back! :)

Crazy deals! Ralf Lauren, Cole Haan, BCBG, Anne Taylor, DKNY, Hugo Boss., Jessica McClintock, Michael Kors, Victoria’s Secret… etc. Brand Clothing up to 75−80% off. Basically this store buys in bulk of items from big department stores from all over the United States, such as Nordstrom’s, Macy’s.etc. They carry shoes, sheets, bedding, purses, men’s, women’s and children’s items. It’s always like a treasure hunt when I got. You need at least an hour if you want to find anything in there. They are seasonal, for example one summer I discovered buckets and buckets of Victoria Secret bathing suits. Each $ 3.00 — $ 6.00 apiece. My best buy this year, a pair of Leather Cole Haan Boots($ 75.00), the retail price was about $ 350.00. It is a big warehouse with racks and racks of clothing, jewelry, housewares, shoes, and accessories. A lot of the items are damaged, some are easily fixed with some thread and needle. They are open 6 days a week, they close Tuesday to restock. If you sign up as a member(free) you get coupons to get a steeper discount. Rule of thumb to have a successful trip: 1. Plenty of time 2. Patience to sift through 3. Willingness to by cool stuff with minor repairs 4. Bring a Friend. PS I also got a pair of BCBG pumps for $ 15.00!!! I can’t wait for you to check it out!
