If you are looking for a local dive bar in Lemon Grove then this is the place for you. It is a local«Cheers» for many of the locals. You walk in and you feel at home.. The bartenders are wonderful and will greet you with a smile.. They only serve beer and wine here… And it is cash only.. But they have an atm. Minimal charge. If you are not a beer drinker then they have things like the Rita’s in a can. Bottles of cider and smirinoff. They also have pizzas, sandwiches, chips., nuts and other noshies. The jukebox is always going. You will hear anything from country to rap to classic rock. You just never know what you will hear. Opens at noon and closes at 2 am. A good place to chill and have a great time.

It’s not a bar from North Park, South Park, or PB. There’s no gimmick here besides the fact that they are providing beer to their clientele. It’s mostly locals that occupy this space but if you are looking for a place to unwind, play some pool, crank some tunes, and drink around some«real» people; come on down to Sportsmans Pub. They have a Chargers beer pong table, affordable beer, snacks, and a ATM :). CASHONLY obviously. Don’t be scared.

I had a pretty good time at this place. You can’t get anything buy beer here, but they had some nice tvs for watching the game & an eclectic crowd that yelled dirty names at each other. Dan came in and brought some hot dogs with toppings that he grilled up for us out back. What can be more entertaining than hearing a bunch of fiesty, drunk biker dudes yelling at each other caustically between commercial breaks? That’s right — nothing. Happy hour was a good time and my team won so all in all, it was a pretty good evening.

Okay, so if you are going to a bar in Lemon Grove you already know you aren’t rolling up to anything fancy. But for a hole in the wall Steeley Dan-ish bar, this place wasnt that unbearable. The Juke was playing some nice tunes, the drinks were cheap, and the crowd was entertaining. They only serve beer, Sparks, and wine though. And thank goodness for that because I would not have liked to see half these people’s behavior after whiskey shots. Since I cant drink beer, and I am a wine snob to an extent, I decided to kick it east county style and go with the Sparks. I was a little frightened by the patron next to me, who kept repeating to me «I do naughty things when I drink»… I’m like this is going to turn into some scary movie any minute now, and I was pretty petrified for a good half hour until I looked over and noticed he had passed out in a corner table and someone was booting him out. Well, that takes care of that! I don’t think I would come back here on my own free will, it just happened to be this week’s stop for the pool league. ;)
