So why all the bad reviews? I was On the fence from reading the others but I’m sorry to inform you that this place is pretty good. The service was fast and friendly. The food was delicious and a huge plus, a small well stocked salad bar. They have an extensive menu with a little bit of everything. I was surprised after reading the bad. I was going to give it a 3 Star for the blaring Fox News channel tv but I’ve learned to ignore it like a bad four year old. Enjoy.

Good burgers at a nice place to stop off the interstate. The service wasn’t great because they seemed to be understaffed. I love that they have a salad bar with lots of options. I will definitely return!

***** the red velvet cake is outstanding!!**** Service is awesome. Very friendly While driving over the road We are always looking for local spots that are trucker friendly. The Red Onion is at a truck stop across from the Loves. It’s not fancy but very welcoming. I ordered the fried chicken and my wife ordered a bacon cheese burger. It took a few extra minutes because they make the chicken fresh. Chicken was awesome and Mac and cheese was tasty. My wife enjoyed her burger Must try if traveling on I-10

Went here hungry so you would expect that the food would taste better than it would normally, but alas no. Server was surprised we ordered what we did, I should have known that was a bad sign. They did not have some of the sides we asked for with our meal. Instead of southern goodness it was bland awfulness. Server tried to bill us of food we did not order, then had no idea how to work the pos to take off the food items. She was either new or lacked the competence to work the computer. Over all I would not recommend, and will not be returning. If you are traveling on I –10 to tallahassee look elsewhere for southern goodness.

Carry a box of cereal in your car. The people were nice, but the restaurant was filthy and the food was terrible. We stopped because we were hungry and there was nowhere else to eat. Thank goodness we didn’t get sick. Nevermore.

This was just what we were looking for on a Sunday morning. Driving a «big rig» prohibits us from the luxury of a good olé home cooked meal. Jimmies Red Onion met our needs perfectly.(including our puppy — take out«pooch patty» hit the spot). Easy Access in/out. Interstate 10 East /West right there. Wait staff was friendly, prompt and accommodating. Price was right ! This has been added to our on the road favorites. Thanks Jimmies Truck Stop /Red Onion !! Us New Yorkers will be back !!

We would never have stopped at The Red Onion for lunch except for the Unilocal reviews. We found the 4 star rating was quite accurate. Our hamburger and BLT were delicious and substantial and the sides of onion rings were more than needed.

On the road with my brotha(he is a truck driver) and he always wanted to try this spot out. I’m glad we did! If yall lookin for some home-style cookin, please really consider this mom and pops spot. I had the southern fried chicken and southern cookin is what I got. My bro order a bacon cheese burger and it was a monster of a burger. They should put warning labels on their menu to warn consumers that the food causes laziness, drowsiness, food coma, and itis. We slept like babies afterwards. O__o P.S not recommended for the health cautious and the faint of heart.

Food was great. They have an excellent salad bar and the soups are good. Service wasn’t all that friendly but it’s a nice, clean place and the only good food near the interstate within 50 miles in either direction.

YAY for Unilocal!Traveling and hungry we pulled up «what was nearby». Reviews of Red Onion Grill seemed promising and proved to be spot on. A family owned restaurant with super fresh made food and friendly service. I must also say that the homemade 10 layer cake was DELISH!

My husband and I always stop for lunch at the Red Onion Grill when traveling on i10. The waitresses are great and the food is delicious. True southern home cooking — simple and delicious, exactly what it should be.

Over cooked dry cheese burger. Soggy lettuce and tomatoes. The fries were good. I had the Jimmie half pounder. $ 9. Didn’t include a drink.

Great alternative to interstate fast food. Burgers were excellent. Onion rings were perfect. Shrimp was on par with a good coastal restaurant.

We were looking for a place to eat after being on the road for awhile and saw the positive reviews on this place. So glad we went! The food was definitely home-cooked, comfort food. We were tired of fast food by this point so it was a welcome sight. I had the chicken fried steak and he has the pot roast(daily special). Everything was really good and priced well too. Definitely stop if you’re in the area. Just ignore the«we don’t like outsiders» looks from the locals.

Good food for a place next to gas station. Traditional all american food. Burgers, hot dogs, chili, but also have hand cut ribeye steak, cat fish, talapia, turnip etc… Southern soul food as well. Little salad bar, but everything look pretty fresh. the meat, fried chicken and desserts seems to be home made and seems to be fresh. the place do look a little run down. The waitress wasn’t friendly. Didn’t refill our drinks. that’s probebly because they don’t have enough staff. credit card machine was down had to go pay at the store.

Awesome bacon cheeseburgers and sweet potato fries. Certainly wasn’t expecting something this good here. If you need gas and are in the area definitely stop here.

This is a truck stop so don’t go for ambience but if you love old style Southern cooking, this is your place. Daily specials like fried chicken, country fried steak, catfish, shrimp… depending on the day include choice of two sides from a large selection including the best fried okra I have eaten in a very long time, baby limas, turnip greens, buttered carrots, Mac and cheese, blackeyed peas and many more. The servers are very sweet and friendly and there is a bit of a wait at lunchtime because they do a bustling carry out business. But we only waited about 10 or 15 min for our order and it was piping hot and well worth the wait. We are on a road trip and planning our return route to make sure we pass here when the Red Onion Grill is open.

TRUCKSTOP. SE corner of I10 and where was I 6 mi E of Madison, FL Is there a town nearby? Clean and friendly but the TV was too loud blasting the weather. Special: Hamburger Steak with brown gravy and sauteed onions. This is not fast food. This is SOLID. Best red velvet cake I ever tasted. Choose how you want your home fries cut; I had them like chips. The coffee surprised me, too. The real thing. Don’t dress up!

Never underestimate food found at ‘truck stops’ … 10 layer red velvet cake baked in-house. fries hand cut; burgers made fresh when ordered. Near I75 and I10 in Lee, Fl. If passing thru, stop by. We were headed to Tampa and after driving hours from Iowa we were happy to find this place on Unilocal.Based on the reviews, right on,
