Let’s begin with a disclaimer: I am not a spa kind-of-a-girl. Not because I don’t think they aren’t lovely, it’s just that I can’t justify their prices nor the time invested in making my skin feel better for a few hours. However, The Spa at Aurora Highlands has me a believer. I first went here after seeing an ad in the Lee’s Summit paper stating an unbelievable special: choose three(mani, pedi, facial, massage) for only $ 60. I couldn’t pass up this amazing steal — three for only $ 60?! I’ll take two of each! After calling to make an appointment, I arrived a few minutes early to fill out the necessary paperwork(since the spa works with a doctor they see you from a medical perspective). Turns out that the masseuse was running a few minutes late with another client, so in the meantime the spa offered me a FREE facial to occupy my time while I waited. Jackpot! After a great consult, I relaxed to the sounds of tranquil waters and the smells of lavender as I fell asleep to a 30-minute massage. After being given food and water, I was escorted to the other side of the retired Victorian-style house to the salon, where I indulged in my mani-pedi for nearly 2 hours. 4 hours and only $ 60 later, I was a new woman :) The Spa is located in a former plantation-type/Victorian era house, and the inside is just as impressive as the outside. No detail to the décor and ambiance has been left untouched. I really feel like I am in the midst of pure luxury while here. I have since been back and have been given services au gratis for my patience in waiting. They truly treat the customer as a #1 priority and I always leave feeling valued and like I got my money’s worth. I would highly recommend this if you are the kind who is on a budget but who also likes to live it up :) This would be a great place for a bridal party to go before the big day, or to get that work-week tension off your back at a price your wallet can afford. To the Spa at Aurora Highlands: I love you.
