My KC Blue Cross & Shield insurance kicked in on 04/01/2015, but they haven’t sent me the insurance ID card yet. So I carried my letter form of approved healthy insurance application with me, called the KC Blue to obtain my Group ID and Member ID, and had insurance agent sent me at least a healthy insurance copy(with member ID and Group ID on it) as PDF file to my email as proof. I first visited this place on 04/03/2015 Friday at 11:35AM. The morning shift staff were overwhelmed by full-house patients. She looks so burned out and exhausted. The morning shift lady kindly told me the wait is at least 35 minutes, and they close at noon for 1 hour lunch, but reopen at 1PM. Maybe I can consider to come back in the afternoon? I thought it was fine, so I went for the lunch as well. I came back to this same lab at 1:35PM, signed in and waited for more than 30 minutes. There were about 3 people ahead of me. When it was my term, the afternoon staff asked for my insurance ID card. I told her I haven’t received my hard copy of ID card, but I have Group ID& Member ID written down, and also a digital copy of insurance ID on my iPhone. I can email her a copy to this branch’s email, so she can print it out right on the spot.(The office has full gear of fax machine and big commercial printer in all network set up. I was an IT. I know.) The staff told me: «sorry. The email is only for internal staff use. Not for outside. No can do.» I walked out wondering: 1. If this LabCorp mandatorily requires an «absolute hard copy of Insurance ID card, otherwise no service,» then please post a sign at check-in window so patients would be informed ahead. Yet, you let patients signed in and waited for so long, then told us there is nothing you can do. That is just plainly wasting of my life. 2. I understand«abiding and upholding the laws and regulations are priority of doing everything right.» Meanwhile, I have gone to doctors’ offices, physical therapy, etc., and they all can take my insurance info I provided them, make a copy of my documents and driver’s license(After all, I am not going to run away from anything. I have paid all my insurance and medical bills on time and in full. And Even if I was a bad guy, they can still track me down with my social and denied me service next time if I ever dare to go back again when medical bill is not paid.) 3. What do you mean exactly about email is «only for internal staff use only»? A commercial email address is for commercial. You use it for business. You use it to email, to fax, to communicate with other doctors’ offices, to email report, to provide testing results. What do you mean the email is only for internal staff use only? What kind of technology age the LabCorp is living under? Stone age? Analog age? Dial-Up age? Conclusion: This company’s way(or the afternoon staff’s way) of running a business has become so rigid. There is no room for flexibility. I guess I better look up another company who really cares for the customers. After all, the money is in customer’s pockets, and services can be provided by many others.
