Love love Love Samurai! Can’t stop thinking about the delicious California Roll, Lawton roll(add cucumber), Angel Roll, and Oklahoma roll! Omg! To die for! I the waitress was really sweet and the establishment was clean. Can’t WAIT to return!!!

After moving back to the area from Washington state, I was nervous about trying a sushi place again. I had sushi in Altus when I first got to the state, but it wasn’t that great. Deciding to try something new in the area, we decided to try this place. The outside was very plain, almost scary, but looks can be deceiving. Upon entering, we were greeted warmly and taken to a seat. The interior was very clean, no dust, no sticky tables, and the style was pretty minimalistic. Our waitress was very quick to get our drinks and our first round of sushi ordered. We decided on a California roll and a bagel roll. The bagel roll is fried, and really really good. Tempura batter on the outside, spicy crab and cream cheese on the inside? Yum. The California roll was as expected. The avocado was the perfect amount of ripeness and the cucumber was crunchy. We will be back for sure. The only negative, which had nothing to do with the food, was the bathroom. It was clean and everything, but there was NOSOAP. Eek. I’m not sure if they forgot to put a replacement in there or what, but thank god for hand sanitizer. :)

The building’s exterior does not do justice to the cuisine inside. It makes a perfect date night destination. The sushi is very fresh and does not disappoint. I would not compare it to coastal region restaurants, but for land locked Oklahoma, you could do no better! The service was on point and our glasses never empty. I appreciate the clean environment and colorful décor. (I remember driving past this establishment prior to their opening, there was a great deal of work going on inside, and I had high expectations for their grand opening. I won’t lie, when we pulled into the parking lot that first time, I said to my wife, they must have spent all their money on the interior. They did. I think they put all new ventilation, new kitchen hardware and redesigned the entire interior, all of which, makes for an enjoyable dining experience. But I can’t help thinking that sometimes they get overlooked by the patrons that judge them based upon their exterior.)

This was good sushi at really good price. I got it to go so I can’t really speak on service of the restaurant. They do have a hibachi grill there they had some food cooking and it smelled and looked really good. We plan to go check out the hibachi sometime.

I have not tried the hibachi here, but the sushi is great! I was very surprised by the quality of the sushi as well as the price! Definitely recommend to sushi lovers!

From looking at the place from the outside, you would think twice about going in. But the inside was somewhat decent and looked clean. The staff are friendly. He menu is typical and so are the prices. We ordered gyoza, maybe two or three specialty rolls and a spicy tuna roll. We spent about $ 50 or so, can’t remember if that included a tip. Definitely would go back

Don’t let the outside put you off. I was in town for a graduation and stumbled across this little diamond in the rough. I almost didn’t go in because the outside is a little old and rough but the food is delicious the staff if very friendly and inviting and the hibachi chef was very entertaining. It’s a must try!

Oklahoma roll was fantastic. The best sushi I’ve had away from the ocean. I also tried the chicken hibachi. Everything was full of flavor and prepared just right.

Went there on a Monday night. Was pretty disappointed it was my bday dinner. Staff was friendly, but we felt very rushed. It was only 8:30. The appetizer and drinks were fantastic but my steak hibachi was over cooked and a bit flavorless, my friends teriyaki salmon really did seem as though it was frozen(dry outside, mushy inside). I’ve gotten carry out before and it was fantastic so I guess I’ll say maybe it was because it was just a bad Monday

This is a really fun date spot. It is a little kitschy but in a good way! We were craving sushi and tried several rolls, they did not disappoint. We also sampled some of the cocktails from their fabulous cocktail list. We sat in a cozy booth and enjoyed excellent service. The prices were very reasonable, the food was very high-quality and tasty, and the drinks were potent and cheap. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but it’s really a fun stop. We will be back.

Really good food, the place on the outside looks questionable but once inside the people are nice and the food really good, both of us had steak and chicken habachi and all under $ 50! Well worth the trip into town!

This place is pretty well priced compared to other places and the sushi is pretty good. The hibachi lacks a bit of flavor but its still pretty good. The staff is lovely and they make sure that you have everything you need always. The only thing I don’t like is their white sauce for hibachi but that’s just persona preference. I love their lunch specials because they offer 3 rolls for the price of 1 special roll. This will probably be my place for a quick lunch on most weeks.

I came here specifically seeking hibachi, as opposed to sushi. Although I DO occasionally enjoy really good sushi. I wanted to see«the best Lawton had to offer». And… I should have expected about this much. Let me start out by saying: this place wasn’t bad. Actually, it was a little better than I expected it to be. You see… I have to remember where I am(only under temporary circumstances). For those of you that don’t know, it’s very difficult to get really good seafood in Lawton… unless you cook it yourself. But… I digress. I’ve eaten a lot of hibachi in my time. So I pretty much know what I’m supposed to get here. That said, let’s hit the key points here. Service: prompt from the moment I walk in. I’m seated quickly, greeted immediately, drink order is taken and delivered all within five minutes. One mild problem though… the waitress barely speaks or understands English. And even though this is a Japanese restaurant, it IS in Lawton, Oklahoma of all places. Which means… more than decent English syntax is basically an expectation, if not a requirement. But whatever. We break through the language barrier and after almost 2 minutes of me explaining to the non-English speaking waitress that I wanted Merlot, she understands(after I point to the drink on the menu) and gets it to me in record time. No worries. The food: this is where things get interesting. I ordered hibachi shrimp and lobster. Initially, I noticed their seafood is glossed over one final time with soy sauce. Not necessarily a bad thing except… it comes across as over compensation to me. At the very best hibachi place I’ve ever eaten at, they seasoned their seafood with soy sauce, butter, and a spritz of lemon. Not to mention the fact that most other hibachi restaurants offer white sauce. Either I was supposed to ask for the stuff after the fact or they straight up didn’t have any. Either case is an anomaly in Japanese cuisine for me. Aforementioned aside, the shrimp and lobster themselves were cooked just fine. I guess it’s the precise seasoning I have slight issues with. There was a hint of a sweet aftertaste to the soy sauce used here. The fried rice needed a lot of love, too. I’d have normally used a mix of salt, pepper and white sauce to improve on the quality. But since the latter was not ostensibly available, I opted for the soy sauce readily available on the table. To their credit, they DO put egg and veggies in their fried rice. So… kudos for that! The«clear» onion soup was OK. Nothing to write home about though. Again, I’ve tasted better at other hibachi restaurants. They brought the bill to me rather quickly… which I found odd. How did they know I didn’t want a second drink? Oh well… cheaper bill for me, I guess. Besides, the scenery didn’t do much for me. It was far less authentically Asian than one would expect. At this point, I just wanted to pay my bill and depart promptly. Overall, not a bad experience. Just far from the best. So I guess… the search for the near-perfect hibachi restaurant continues. To be fair though, if you don’t feel like driving all the way to Oklahoma City for search of greener pastures, I suppose this place will do.

The outside looks scary, but the food is fantastic! I as a family from a large east coast city, was dying for some real food, this was a pleasant surprise!!! Great service and wonderful sushi!

Samurai is a wonderful find in Oklahoma. I LOVE sushi! So, when I moved from Hawai’i to Oklahoma, the Pacific Ocean to a landlocked state, I had absolutely zero hope for coming across good sushi. What a pleasure it was to come across Samurai. They fly in their fish from Hawai’i. FRESH!!! Their staff is incredibly friendly. The Habachi Chefs put on a show that has everyone cheering. Oh, and then there is the taste. The TASTE!!! The sashimi is delightful. Fish prepared just right to dance with your taste buds. The sushi is wonderfully balanced. And the grill will please with all. My suggestion: Have it all!

Good for this place for maintaining 4 stars… But I am only giving it 3. That 3 is awfully generous too. I get the feeling that some people are giving stars based off the theory of «well for Lawton it’s good», or «it’s the best one in town». I won’t do that. Is it good for Lawton? Yup. Is it probably the best in that dirty village? Yup. But for a traveled person as myself, I often find myself in random places… Like Lawton Oklahoma. Seeing the rating and reading some reviews, I expected 4 star sushi… Yea, ok. I went here twice on my lengthy 1 month stay in this village. I wanted to make sure I had the right impression. Once at the Teppanyaki grill, once at a regular table. Both times the service was decent, the food was decent. It wasn’t bad at all… Again, «for Lawton» it was pretty good. But I’m sorry, it wasn’t 4 stars. Hell it might not even be 3, but it’s 0500AM and I’m feeling ok, so I’ll be nice. I ordered several pieces of sushi, salmon, smoked salmon, Philadelphia rolls etc. Again. Decent. Also ate beef off the Teppanyaki… The man cooking put on a legit show honestly, A+ for interaction and showmanship… The food however, C+. Anyways, if you’re stuck in that dirty village like I was, this place is worth checking out. I say stuck as in, I was there over a month for some training. If you’re just there 1 – 4 days or whatever… Stick to the norms AKA — Olive Garden, Applebee’s etc… Das It Mayne

Came to town to visit my friend for her boot camp graduation. We are both from Seattle and were craving sushi but were hesitant to eat it in a landlocked state. Well, this place was simply amazing… surprisingly on par with the costal sushi restaurants I’ve eaten at in LA, Seattle, and NY. Everything we had was great — the tuna+mango speciality, salmon and shrimp hibachi, udon, alaskan roll, spider roll, and tempura.(My friend was super hungry!) Highly recommend this place!

Less fancier than Kimono, but better prices. They’ve got a really good lunch special menu and also a decent selection of Sake. Whenever I go I usually get the sushi and sashimi which comes with salad and miso soup. It’s a filling portion for $ 21. They have messed up my orders twice, but all is forgiven. They’re also really nice.

First off, the four stars is to be used in lawton context. Because, obviously any sushi in lawton will probably fall short of places like CA, HI, WA, etc. I’ve sushi-hopped in lawton and have come to the conclusion that samuri is the best in the area.(You’re welcome, I’ve done the work food you) The sushi is good and the staff are friendly and talkative. The first time I went our waitress had a hard time handling the order and seemed like she was having a difficult time with English. But my recent visit consisted of witty banter and friendly conversation with the sushi chefs and waitresses(I was sitting at the sushi bar). Cons: watered down cock tails and small serving size of vanilla deep fried ice cream(get green tea instead… larger serving size and you’re in an Asian restaurant so embrace it and give up the vanilla) Disclaimer:I haven’t sat at the teppanyaki so I have no idea how that section of the restaurant is.

I’m from Los Angeles where amazing food is everywhere, so I’m a harsher critic. 3 stars for me, but compared to places in Lawton it’s a 4 star. We didn’t think there was sushi in Lawton so when we found this place rated 4 stars on Unilocal we had to try it. Won’t blow your mind but at least there’s a place here to satisfy your sushi craving. DRINK Mango drink(3 stars): Didn’t taste like there was much alcohol in it but it was good. ROLL Caterpillar roll(3.5 stars): Crunchy on the inside and had flavor. I’d recommend this. Out of control roll *off menu(2.5 stars): Nice chucks of fish inside but roll didn’t have much flavor. Wouldn’t recommend it. DESSERT Vanilla tempura ice cream(2 stars): So this had the most ridiculously minuscule amount of vanilla ice cream in it. I couldn’t believe it. Basically a ball of tempura with 4 bites if ice cream in the middle. Our friends got the green tea one and it was huge compared to ours and you could definitely see their green tea ice cream. We told the waitress and the owner or manager came over to see what we were complaining about. They said the vanilla one is a lot smaller… so why are they the same price? Green tea tempura ice cream(2 stars): Way more ice cream than the vanilla one. Didn’t have much of a green tea flavor but it was really green! SERVICE(3.5 stars) Our waitress was nice but couldn’t really keep up with our requests or questions. Not sure if she understood much English. ATMOSPHERE Clean. Casual. PARKING Small lot in the front with more parking in the back.
