Gyro, fries, and a drink for just under $ 10? Maybe 4 oz of meat, pita and some veggies. The meat was being stored pre-sliced in violation of health code at room temperature. It was then thrown on a flat grill with some grease to heat up. The gyro strips got the philly treatment and were chopped up with the spatula into little pieces(why?). The food was mediocre at best. The $ 7.60 combo was not available because their soda machine was down, so I was charged extra for the drink, bringing my total to a hair under ten dollars. I noticed that 6 wings was $ 4. Really?

Tony and his wife offer a variety of delicious Greek, Bosnian, and American food favorites, which include delicious Chicago hot dogs, Gyros, and the biggest chicken wings in the area. Their friendliness and delicious food makes you want to eat there as often as possible. The very reasonable prices don’t hurt either. Say Hi to Tony and tell him Earl sent you.

Speede Stop Café isn’t one of those places you’ll drive by and see out of the corner of your eye but it’s the one restaurant you shouldn’t pass up. Speede Stop is located inside a Citgo Gas Station at the corner of Gwinnett Drive and Stone Mountain Street near downtown Lawrenceville, just down the road from Central Gwinnett High School. It offers a wide variety of food but I can only review what I ate today; the Original Gyro. I’ve had quite a few gyros in my time but this one beats all others, hands down. The shear size of Speede Stop’s Gyro will make your mouth water as you watch them prepare it. The lamb is absolutely seasoned to perfection and is thickly cut while being tender and juicy; it almost melts in your mouth. The bread(wrap) is fresh and tasty and even the crisp lettuce and freshly sliced onions brought my palate to a new level. The tzatziki sauce was perfectly portioned and gave the whole gyro the cool refreshment I so needed after working hard all morning. Give Speede Stop Café a try for your lunch or dinner and you’ll be writing a review on Unilocal, too! Thank you Speede Stop for the best gyro in town! I’ll be back with friends and family soon!
