This place was pretty good — Solid establishment I went here earlier in the week — I liked it a lot. It’s not the best but far from the worst. I ordered the Jerk Chicken(Spicy version, of course) Lunch Special. This came with Jerk chicken, rice and peas, cabbage and sadly just 2 plantains… I am a person that loves plantains. The jerk was good, the rice and peas were tasty but I think it needed to be cooked a little longer, the 2 plantains were BOMB, perfect ripeness. I liked the atmosphere here too… its small but it’s a good place to have some lunch and chill out. Overall B–

Ordered the curry goat and side of jerk chicken, they were out of wings. Amazing! Went to Jamaica over the summer and this food took me back! You get so much food for the price. The dessert not so much. I had the Jamaican fruit cake and some chocolate cake which I hope was not rum cake because it tasted nothing like it. If I didn’t try the dessert I would have gave more stars but it just put a bad taste in my mouth… Sorry.

After this weekend(and many chances) I decided that I needed to update my review of this restaurant. I believe in supporting local and small businesses, but Kingston 30 needs much improvement for me to spend any more money there. I came by this weekend because I was craving roti and Ionie’s in Grayson was closed. I already had doubts because of how hit or miss the food is, but I went anyway and that did it for me! 1st, the customer service is extremely terrible. The young lady that works the register really needs some type of training because she is very rude and her rudeness is consistent with every visit. The way she talks to customers is unbelievable. If it’s not her, it’s the guy who spends so much time singing instead of focusing on the customers that he is getting orders wrong. He will sing a whole song before he addresses customers who are waiting. 2nd, they never have food to complete your meal. Something is always missing. I cannot count the many times when I have been told we don’t have plantain, we don’t have avocado, we don’t have vegetables… smh! Why are you open??? When they do have it, it’s rotten or unripe. Twice I was served avocado that was black all over. When I brought it to their attention, they looked at me as if I don’t know what rotten avocado is. A few times I was served plantains that weren’t even ripe or sweet. 3rd, and most importantly, the worst roti ever!!! The skins are not freshly made. The skin of my roti was hard in a lot of places and cold… breaking because it was obviously reheated. The goat inside was bone and fat and lacked any curry flavor. It tasted like vinegar instead for almost $ 12. If you are not making roti fresh, please remove it from your menu… or you need to be charging way less… especially when it doesn’t come with rice, plantain, and veggies like most Jamaican places. I can’t with Kingston 30. The food is mediocre and the service is terrible. The end!

Tried goat curry with rice n beans, it came with cabbage and fried plantains. The curry was rich, tasty and goat was cooked reall good(soft and coming off the bone like butter). Irish moss beverage was good and has the milk shake kind of consistency tastes close to faluda(indian milk shake) Try their home made hot sauce. I learned Jamaica’s captial is Kingston and thats why they named this place after their capital. The owner was really friendly and service was fast.

Had a craving for Jamaican food on Friday and decided to give this place a try since I was in the neighborhood. I couldn’t decide between oxtails and jerk chicken, so I ordered both. I enjoy spicy food and requested my jerk extra spicy. Coming from Brooklyn I am very critical of my Jamaican food. The oxtail was pretty good and would definitely order it again. However I was disappointed with the jerk chicken. It looked and tasted like baked chicken with hot sauce on top of it, and the sauce wasn’t even hot. They advertise that they don’t bake their jerk, was grill but where was my jerk sauce Mon??? I’ll stick with All Island Café jerk chicken. I would visit this business again to try their curry chicken and maybe patties, but definitely missed it with the jerk.

Yummy in my tummy! This clean and cute hole in the wall serves up some quality Jamaican food. They have great lunch specials. I had the brown stewed chicken and my hubby had the curry goat. The dishes came with rice and beans, plantains, and cabbage. The beef patties rocked and I loved the rum cake. The downside is that it is located across from my gym!!! This restaurant is located in a strip mall across the parking lot of the Sugar Mills Mall

Oxtails weren’t as tender as I like and there were a TON of bones and barely any meat. I may give them one more shot.

The owners mum whose name is Cherry was wonderfully helpful and accommodating. She let us break all the rules LOL. The food was fine but as another reviewer mentioned the same gravy used was a little dark to for my tastes though. Maybe I am just not used to traditional Jamaican flavors but it was a nice spot to grab a bite outside of the mall.

I ordered the jerk chicken with white meat(I didnt know it was a 1 dollar extra or that it was actually boneless). It wasnt what I expecting, but it was really good. Overall I would return, but the portion of chicken was small even though I ordered a large.

I went in for lunch and ordered oxtail. The price was reasonable and the food was good however, the oxtail pieces were very tiny and had almost no meat and I was boy given like 4 pieces drenched in gravy. I’m not sure if I was given such a small amount because it was the lunch special but all bone and no meat is a little unacceptable. Overall I will return, next time I’ll probably specify to have more meaty pieces.

I have seen this restaurant for years, and never tried it. However after getting a pretty bad eye-brow threading, my daring side came out and decided to try this place because if it was horrible, it would just complement my bad eye-brow job. «Well thank God, that was hardly the case for this place(I rhymed)! My food was super tasty, hot, and delicious! I order the chicken curry lunch special and everything was on point. I am deducting a star though, because I was told the wait was about 5 minutes, when it was actually about 15 – 20 minutes. Other than that the staff was friendly and I will definitely be back.

This restaurant is located in the Discovery Mills shopping center area. It is a small, friendly restaurant. My colleagues and I had a late lunch here and surprised to see that there was an almost full restaurant around 2pm. I ordered the goat curry roti. It was rich and tasty but I was annoyed at all the small bones I had to pick out. One of my colleagues got the chicken curry with no bones. There were still some small bones in his dish. The most entertaining part of the meal was when we inquired about the Irish Moss which is a Jamaican drink made primarily from seaweed indigenous to the Caribbean area. The waitress said the drink was for men only because it is known to give men«energy.» My male colleagues tried it. Then I inquired if there is a women’s version and sorry to disappoint any ladies out there but the answer was no. Finally I decided to try the Irish Moss out of curiosity and thought it tasted like egg nog. No other reaction.

This restaurant is tucked into the same small shopping center as Red Crawfish, Popcorn Haven and Jersey’s Mike’s. It was late Saturday afternoon and we were wanting more of a snack, so we got the combination platter(choose two entrees, you will get a half portion of each). It came with beans and rice, some sort of veggie mixture and a few fried plantains. The combination platter was $ 13. We got the oxtail and jerk chicken as the entrees. The chicken was boneless, which was a $ 1 surcharge. We also got an additional plate of plantains, which was $ 2. The food was delicious. I didn’t try the oxtail meat, but the sauce it came in was so savory and went well with the plain beans and rice. The veggie mixture added a nice crunch to everything. And the plantains were so sweet and ripe. Here is what I didn’t like. One, it was supposed to be boneless chicken, but I found several tiny bones that I had to spit out. Normally I wouldn’t care, but if they tacked on $ 1 for boneless chicken, it should actually be boneless. Two, I think the combo platter is slightly overpriced for what you get. The normal entrees come in small and large sizes, with roughly a $ 1 – 1.50 difference between the two. The combo platter is around $ 3 more than the large portion of the entrees. I can’t confirm how the combo platter compares in portion size to the small and large options. If it is closer to the large option, then that placates me a bit. In any case, if the combo platter means you just get a half portion each of two entrees, in my opinion, it should be maybe $ 1 – 2 more since you are not getting twice the portions, just an extra option. Anyway. I am always happy to try new cuisine and I’m sure I will be back to try some of their other offerings. They seem to have really good lunch specials that run around $ 6… hmmm…

Love the staff — very friendly and welcoming. The food can be a little slow but for the price, you just can’t beat this place. It’s a 3.5 star place for me. I love the jerk chicken and ox tail. The business lunch special makes you feel like all other restaurants are ripping you off.
