Needs a little renovation here and there mainly in the restroom but a great place to watch some football or play pool. I recommend the burgers, very good!

Once a great establishment that is now way past its prime. Long gone is the sand pit. It is now a pretty dirty and low rent bar.
Every ceiling tile in the place is filthy and the entire place needs to be painted. I guess the owner can’t afford to pay anyone else so a small kitchen area was put up front in what was once one of Lawrence’s best bars. Smoke and soot fill the air and further stain the ceiling.
The burgers are good, which is the only reason this bar got a 2 star rating instead of a 1. Bottom line is that this is one of the main bars I frequented when I was a KU student back in the 80′‘s. It makes me heartsick to see how the original West Coast Saloon has been run into the ground.

I’ve been told for years by several Lawrence locals that West Coast Saloon has the best burgers in town. It’s definitely the best burger that I’ve had in five years of living in Lawrence. West Coast isn’t aiming for gourmet burgers like Burger Stand or Pachamammas and instead delivers a great tasting burger.

The burger is great but not quite as good as the Burger Stand or Pachamammas. However for the price it is an excellent value. The drink specials are good and the draft beer is ice cold. The bar is divey but i like that.
