Partially biased, as I worked at PJs in Overland Park in high school, and at this PJs for a year in college, I still believe this location is the best. The people are friendly and the pizza is very well tended. We went through heavy training on both appearance and taste. If you didn’t do something right, the blame was placed on the employee responsible, not the customer like people in these negative review will try to say. These people only went on to review because they are upset and the general manager, Ivan, was a complete ass to them; let’s face it, he flat out IS an ass. If you have a complaint and he is the one helping you, be prepared to be given the shaft. Every other manager understands that mistakes are going to happen, especially in this sort of environment where everything is quick quick quick go go go. Every restaurant has flaws and there will always be negative reviews. I still order from this store since I still live in Lawrence for the time being. Every time I order, the pizza is fresh and completely satisfying. The employees are always smiling and have a cool sense of humor, which is expected from those working at a «pizza joint». So before you let these sap-story reviews alter your decision to order from here, trust me when I say the bad reviews are the opposite end of the 99.9% satisfaction rating at this store. You won’t be sorry you ordered from here.

After reading the reviews for this Papa John’s, I should have anticipated problems. No wonder they are averaging less than 2.5 stars out of 5 on Unilocal. I ordered the two large one-topping pizza special($ 15.95) online for pick-up at 5:30pm sharp, one with extra cheese and one with extra cheese and NOSAUCE. My wife is allergic to tomatoes, so in the«comments» section for that particular pizza, I told them«no tomatoes, olive oil ok, tomato allergy». I added no comments when completing selection of ingredients for the other pizza, only choosing«extra cheese» for the whole pie. I left the«instructions» section for the entire order(last step) blank as well. When I arrived promptly at 5:30, the person behind the counter, obviously the manager or owner, read my order back to me after asking my name: «two large pizzas, extra cheese, no sauce» he said. «No», I said, «my order was only for one pizza with no sauce, I was very specific when I ordered, the other pizza was a normal pizza with sauce and extra cheese». Instead of saying«I’m sorry for our mistake», I was told that it would be another seven minutes to fix the order and prepare a pizza as I had ordered and that I should have a seat. The reason I ordered ahead online for pick-up at a specific time was to avoid waiting, but because of their mistake, I was forced to wait. It took longer than seven minutes as I suspected(the pizza may take seven minutes to bake, but it was another 3 – 5 minutes before an employee was able to actually assemble the pizza and put it in the oven), closer to 10 – 12 minutes. The same guy who took the order brought the pizzas over to me, one with sauce and one without, just as I had originally ordered. Again, no «sorry you had to wait» or any other sign of remorse. As a former owner of a retail food business, I would have offered a customer in my position something to drink, possibly the extra«white» pizza that had mistakenly been made and they could not sell to someone else, or a even a free dessert, but none of that happened. When I got the pizzas home, my pizza(with sauce) was relatively hot, but my wife’s pizza(the one without sauce that had been sitting there 10 – 12 minutes while my pizza was being remade) was ice cold. I had to fire up the oven, wait 10 minutes for it to reach 375 degrees, then re-bake the pizza for 7 – 8 minutes until it reached proper temperature. In total, Papa John’s mistake cost us an additional 30 minutes of wasted time. Unsat. The pizzas were«OK», my wife’s a bit dry after all the baking and mine with too much sauce. I cannot imagine paying $ 17, the going rate for a 14″(large) pizza off the menu, for a Papa John’s pizza and the two pizzas we received were not much of a bargain at two for $ 17 and change(including tax). Unfortunately, pizza in Lawrence is either terrible or overpriced, so we do not have many choices when craving a pie and this Papa John’s will not be one of those choices from now on. This Papa John’s location always seems to disappoint me more than the last time I ordered it. Lesson learned. My boyfriend ordered food today, it was over an hour and a half for them to deliver it to us, and not to mention but the pizza, breadsticks, chicken and the cinnamon knots were ice cold! When my boyfriend attempted to call them to complain about the food and the service the employees proceeded to hang up on him. Several times he tried to call back and no one would answer the phone. We emailed their corporate office and they didn’t seem to care that we were treated with poor service. We will never be ordering from Papa Johns again. Ever.

I ordered from EatStreet and my pizza was sent to the wrong address across town. I’ve now been waiting more than an hour for the pizza. The driver says he’s on his way here. That was 15 minutes ago. I called the store and asked if they would give me a coupon for a fresh/hot pizza at least(no way is that one going to be hot, I’ll have to reheat it myself and that won’t taste fresh) and the manger said — I kid you not — «I’m not in business to give away free pizzas.» Well, yeah. Apparently you’re in business to send pizzas to the incorrect address and refuse to make it right if they get delivered late and cold. What a prince. I prefer Papa John’s pizza to Pizza Hut, but frankly, I’m not giving that dude any more money. «I’m not in business to give away free pizzas»?!? That is super rude. They screwed up my order. They’re supposed to make it right. I would have gone with something more professional and less confrontational and assy, maybe a «hey, really sorry about the mixup, give us a call next time you order and we’ll throw in [something under $ 3] on your order» just to be *not a dick* about it.

Ordered ahead 2 hours and upon getting to the restaurant to pick it up I had to wait 20 minutes. Stupid.

Not sure why there’s only one review, maybe its because people know what to expect when they order Papa Johns. I’ve always been a fan and this one tastes just like any other PJs i’ve had. Good ingredients, decent delivery time.

The ingredients are fresh, and the pizza tastes similar to other Papa Johns locations. The hand tossed Works or Garden pizza is good. I recommend this national pizza chain.
