I’ve only used the walk-in center for school/sports physicals, but have been very pleased. Unlike with my primary care physician, I am able to schedule multiple children on the same day(PCP has a limit of 2 appointments per day; an inconvenience for large families) and I am able to get appointments within a week of calling(PCP has to schedule physicals at least 6 – 8 months out!). There has never been a wait; we’ve been called right in after registering our insurance information; at the PCP we have a wait of at least 30 minutes, usually more. The office staff is friendly and work in a very timely manner. The doctors, I’ve found, to be very friendly and engaging, as well as conducting the physicals thoroughly and efficiently. They take care of all the necessary medical needs, but don’t waste time asking such questions about whether my kids wear seat belts in the car or helmets while riding bikes(for the record, the answer is «yes» to both of those, but after 18 years of parenting, it’s bothersome to be asked every single time!). The office is clean and bright and the view of the river is enjoyed while waiting. Parking is plentiful and the practice is easily accessible from I-495. Highly recommended!

I appreciate that Merrimack Medical Walk-In Center has great hours, has a nice facility, and is convenient to the highway. The short wait time is a double edged sword. I was in and out of there today in about fifteen minutes. I came in with sudden and inexplicable swelling to the right side of my jaw. The assistant took my vitals. Then, the doctor came in, and he barely said anything. He poked at my face and then told me that I probably have cellulitis in my jaw. He prescribed Keflex. Shouldn’t my jaw be red if it’s cellulitis? In any event, the exam was rushed and certainly wasn’t thorough; he didn’t even look at my throat. Bedside manner was lacking — both the doctor’s and the office staff’s. In the short time I was in the building, I heard one staff complain about how many people had come into the office at the end of the day. Another complained about so many new patients. Both were talking about just wanting to go home. While I can sympathize with the sentiment, I don’t find comments of this nature professional. If it weren’t for the late hour, I would have seen my PCP.
