Laveen Modern Dentistry and Orthodontics

This was by far the best dental experience I have had as an adult! I am definitely going back to Dr. Crum and his team! They are thorough and very efficient! It was a great experience!

First visit to Laveen Modern Dentistry. Definitely my last visit.
I had a toothache and they scheduled me for an emergency appointment– in three days!
The staff was extremely friendly and explained everything thoroughly. While waiting for the dentist, I checked Unilocal and read that they like to overcharge. Coincidentally, my wife texted me right them and advised me not to get the $ 1500 crown but opt for the $ 700 crown. Hmm.
I listened to all their advice, scheduled the work to be done, while planning to get a second opinion. They were going to do it for…$ 5000! For one tooth! I called two days later to cancel the appointment. Rosa asked why and I told her they were overpriced. She said: «All you had to say is you wanted to cancel. You don’t have to be rude about it». Whatever.
I went to another dentist who did the same work for under $ 700.
Avoid Laveen Modern Dentistry like a rotten tooth.

This dental office has ALL of the state of the art equipment. It is absolutely amazing but… don’t think you’re not paying for this. I found Laveen Modern Dentistry to be way over priced. I was charged $ 45 for each quadrant of my mouth (right, left, top, bottom) for some kind of rinse. What gets me is that it’s not possible to separate this area when it comes to rinsing so why not just charge a flat fee. I felt like I was robbed. I was VERY displeased with their billing practice. Be sure to ask for a billing breakdown PRIOR to any work getting done. You might be surprised at what you find. I know I sure was.

My husband and I have been patients for about 6 months. We’ve had 2 cleanings so far and some fillings done. We picked this place because it’s down the street from our house but other than that there’s not any special reason we come here.
I hate getting X-​rays done of my mouth, it’s so invasive, yucky, & awkward. Amber was amazing at making me feel comfortable. Thank you!
Some of the things I don’t like~
1. The scheduling is not to my liking. Your assigned dentist aren’t always there so you have to be very flexible. When I tired to set up a follow up appointment I could only do it on the 1^st and 3^rd Saturday/​Thursday of the month and not Friday or this that and any other time. It was confusing.
2. Just like any corporate/​chain dentist they try to sell you everything! No thanks, just clean my teeth. They almost seem sad when you have a $ 0 balance at the end of your visit.
3. My husband and I had our fillings (2) redone because they were old. Wow! The pain lasted 3 + weeks. It hurt so bad to bite down. My husband had his done a couple months before me and I thought he was being dramatic but then I had mine done. I’ve had fillings done before and usually once the numbness wears off you are good to go. I think our dentist may be heavy handed and applies way to much force when drilling, I don’t know.
4. During my first visit I waited over an hour to be seen. Now I’m always sure to ask for first appointment of the day.
Overall everyone seems to be friendly. We have our next appointments scheduled but may look around for a less corporate dentist.

Completely won over! I have been to three different dentists in my life and this place is the best! I needed a little extra work since I was pregnant and they were extremely nice and welcoming. I was able to get everything done in one day and only had to come back for some followup service. They are quick also! I don’t like spending forever at dentist. Did I mention it’s like stepping into the Starship Enterprise? Very high tech and up to date on all their technologies. I definitely recommend this place… and I have :) My whole family goes there now!

I have been to this office twice for my semi-​annual cleanings and have had great customer service and was not recommended to do any other dental work, unlike many of the other reviews. This office was very clean, friendly staff, and I had no problems scheduling appointments. I switched to this office because of the location, very close to my home. Both appointments were great and I will definitely be coming back to this office in the future.

I have been to this office twice for semi-​annual cleanings, and was impressed with the cleanliness of the office, and the dental hygiene staff. If it were only for regular cleanings, I would give the office four stars. However, the dentist is known to recommend work that is unnecessary and costly.
When I was presented with «urgent» dental work that totaled more than $ 3,000, I visited another dental office that has been voted to «Top Docs» by the Phoenix Magazine and was informed that no dental work was necessary, or even recommended. A few months later, my husband was also informed by Laveen Modern Dentistry that he needed work totaling $ 2,700. After getting a second opinion through a Phoenix Top Doc, he too learned that his teeth are in great condition, with no recommended work. A friend had a similar experience.
Save your money, save your teeth, and go elsewhere for your dental needs.

Update: The office advertises one appointment crowns, however, this was not possible in my particular case. Including the root canal, I actually needed 4 appointments before my work was complete on one tooth. Fortunately on my 4^th appointment, I had great service. The staff was friendly, thorough, and made sure I was comfortable! The appointment lasted a total of 2.5 hours (crown, x-​rays, exam, additional filling), but I am very glad to finally be done with this tooth!
