Very poor customer service at the Laurel Smartbox branch, as well as surprise fees.(They added a ‘pick up’ fee to my locker delivery even though I’m already paying for the delivery and there’s no other way to return the locker!) They also asked me to get forms signed that agreed to a damage liability wavier and to paying some other fee that isn’t actually specified. I’m also not sure if they have liability insurance, as I haven’t received a reply to my email(which asked this) in three business days! Update: I finally received my locker, but it’s now been 8 months and I never received the promised follow-up regarding the surprise fees or extra month I was charged because of their poor service(let alone a confirmation that they had insurance to cover any damages they may have done during delivery).

Excellent service from the first phone call to the last. Price was reasonable and the cheapest option I could find. But even if it was a little more, the service alone was worth several hundred dollars. I felt safe and secure with my belongings as they traveled cross country.

I used smartbox to move a bunch of furniture and other stuff from my Mom’s house in Boulder, Co to my apartment in upper NWDC. I did lots of research and it was the best value. The customer service on the front end was terrific. On the delivery end it was a little tough as they couldn’t tell me when my stuff was going to be delivered — just the day. Makes it hard to figure out when to take off work. That said, the job was done and I would use them again.

What a pleasure to deal with a locally owned company. Nick answered my call and I was not dealing with a call center like other portable storage companies. He was very easy to work with. I loved dealing with a company that was flexible on delivery, etc. Everyone on the Smartbox team was friendly and helpful including Chantel in the office and their driver(sorry his name slips my mind). I highly recommend working with Smartbox.

I had a great experience with Smartbox. They answered all my questions. Even when I called back multiple times as I thought of additional questions. They did try to upsell me into two boxes even though I knew I would only need one. But once I insisted on one box, and one is what I got. They delivered the box right on time. Driver walked me through all the instructions. They called the day before they picked up the box to make sure it was ready. I had my box shipped to a Smartbox location in another state and and everything went according to plan with them too. All in all I was very impressed. The process was about at smooth as I could have hoped and the price was definitely right. A pod would have cost me 50% more.

Terrible customer service! Extremely rude on the telephone. Failed to send me my leasing agreement and fully inform me about the appointments needed for pick up and delivery. As a results, I was forced to have my things sit out for a week. Will not be using them again or recommending them to anyone.
