All of the sushi was fantastic. I liked the king roll and Jimmy’s roll the best. The spicy edamame was very good too. I was looking forward to the hot lips appetizer but sadly disappointed as the tuna was overcooked.

When I first discovered mikasa about 2 years ago it was like phenomenal! Customer service was awesome and food was fantastic. However over time I have been more and more displeased with the food and service. Maybe it’s because I went on a busy night this last time(Saturday night) but I was disappointed that when the waitress was taking my order I felt very rushed because of her tone of voice and no smile on her face. Also the roll I ordered is supposed to have smoked salmon on top and last night it was half cooked and half raw. My rolls came and I was missing ginger and wasabi so I waited for my waitress to come back so I could ask for some but she never came back so I had to ask another waitress, and the rolls were over all bland. Unfortunately my experience was not the greatest and I wish they would put a little more effort into the food and service like they used to.

We had the Alaska Roll, Shrimp Tempura and Teriayki Dinner. We loved all of our dishes which had excellent flavor. The miso soup was good, as was the dressing on the salad. Service was excellent. We didn’t mind there weren’t pictures for each roll(read one of the previous reviews dinging Mikasa for not having pictures of each roll — please…). Most of the sushi places we have been to don’t have pictures. For the people who complained about bad service, they must have come during a busy period or maybe they were short-staffed. Our service was great. We made numerous extra requests which they fulfilled quickly. Its nice they are so close to the freeway.

I was not getting the whole order food for a to go order. The tuna tartar only came with grinded tuna, no crab salad or tuna chunks. I usually love to eat there but not sure what happened to my order today. I only got a third of food!

It’s okay in a pinch, but not the first place I’d suggest people go for real sushi. Younger people like it because it can be fun to pound their locally famed«sake bombs», but the food itself isn’t really memorable. It’s a safe place for people who don’t really eat sushi, but would eat their kind of sushi. It’s also kind of run down and smells odd. The best part about this place is the quick service. They get you in and out efficiently. If you’re short on time and want sushi-esk food, go here. If you’re looking for a true sushi experience, consider other options first.

This was my first time here. We came with. Group of friends who LOVE this place. And I will say the place was packed, not that it’s a large venue, but packed. So they must be doing something right. It was my first time ordering and trying sushi. I ordered the volcano roll and it was delicious. I would totally recommend it. I also ordered the short ribs as my back up plan. Amazing. My fiancé ordered a side of fried rice which was huge and sushi. The food came out at all different times and one of our friends specifically asked for for cabbage on his tray and everybody but him got cabbage. They said they were out. Obviously not. We ended up getting charged twice and took them a month and a half to reimburse us and we constantly called. Not sure if I would go back but people seem to love this place.

Mikasa, your customer service SUCKS a**! I came in here today for lunch right when they opened at 11AM. My boyfriend and I ordered two special sushi rolls and fried calamari. We got both of our sushi rolls at a reasonable time. However, we’ve already finished both rolls and still have not seen our fried calamari that is meant to be an ‘appetizer’. I complained to the Manager about how much their service sucked and all I get is a ‘sorry’. He then brings us the fried calamari and didn’t make the effort to make the situation better by at least offering us the fried calamari for free. Another couple was also complaining who came right after us didn’t even get their food 30 minutes after they’ve ordered. They literally complained to the Manager, left $ 3 and left. Overall, I really do think their service sucks so bad because the Manager and the staff pay more attention to all their ‘regulars’. To the Manager that I talked to, get your act together and train your staff on customer service 101.

We love this sushi place! We live in Manteca, but drive to Lathrop to pick up our order. We have eaten at the restaurant which is clean and well kept, but prefer to order to go. It is nice to find a restaurant where you can order to go and the quality is as good as eating it there. Everyrhing is fresh and very tasty. We love the bento boxes– they have tons of food, the ITT rolld, and the godzilla roll.

I use to love this place, but lately their sushi hasn’t been the same. Yesterday, I ordered my usual Sweet Lover Roll and it looked dried up. I told my waitress and she said I was wrong. Anyways, I attached a before and after picture. I won’t be going back anytime soon.

One of my good friend works here. and yet havn’t been here till now… hahaha. well I thought it’ll be a bigger restaurant but it’s pretty small but that doesn’t stop people from going there. It’s pretty pack when we got there around 7 pm. Even with reservation we had to wait sometime. Just to say the staffs are awesome, Even though we didn’t get My friend Mary as our server she all comes around and tend us. We had the best service. I recommend the DC roll, the kings roll, and Walnut shrimp roll. Pretty delicious and big rolls too. The wait was not too bad considering how pack it was. The best part was. Our servers were able to drink sake with us too! overall, no complaints and will definitely be going back soon.

Food was great and staff was a pleasure to be around. Wait time was appropriate for how busy they were, it is a small restaurant but it’s always full of people, which makes the ambience very casual and happy. The TV and the background music are a nice touch as well. Overall A+ experience and service. Also, very clean bathrooms and dining area. I will come back again for sure.

This place isn’t bad. I went here with coworkers for lunch. Lunch service is going to be slow because a lot of people love this place. I went with the Chicken Katsu. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. I won’t be ordering the chicken katsu again though. It was incredibly fatty(gristle-like, chewy). It also was thinner pieces of chicken. More of a fan of Cocoro in Stockton. I need to try something out non-fried next time. Coworkers had no complaints, they loved their meals. For me it’s a 3 out 5, for the other 7 I was with, they have no problem giving it a 5 out of 5.

If you come from a diverse area such as the Bay Area, this place isn’t for you. By now I have ate a lot of Sushi from different areas and this place is not worth it. The sushi rice was bland and so was the sushi itself, I was extremely disappointed. As I mentioned the rice was bland, the artificial crab was bland, fresh but flavorless, the only thing that may had flavor was the eel, but not enough flavor to overpower the sushi as a whole. My personal favorites are inari and agedashi tofu, but I would completely avoid it at this location. The Inari as a whole was bland and dry. I like my tofu skin to burst with flavor but this didn’t have any flavor. As I separated the skin from the rice the rice was bland, maybe they should consider using a different rice on all their dishes. The agedashi tofu in my opinion was a disgrace to tofu, no one should ever be able to handle tofu in this location. I left this place extremely disappointed and unsatisfied, as it butchered all my favorite dishes. The prices are not worth what you get. I honestly thought this place was amazing with all the incredible reviews, but lets be honest it is not the the best sushi. I would suggest to all those who have reviewed this place to go out to other areas in California north and south and eat sushi. Then you will understand what is good and was is not good sushi and this sushi personally is flavorless and not worth it. I am happy I didn’t order much and I will not say much about the service, it’s difficult to write about a service you didn’t receive.

This is the perfect restaurant for a comfortable family dinner. I’ve eaten here twice and the food has been consistently good– no unpleasant surprises. On the last occasion, they were incredibly busy, and we were glad to have a reservation. Service was slow and somewhat scattered, but with a full house that’s to be expected. I ordered the grilled eggplant appetizer and a bento box with futomaki and vegetable tempura. Everything was delicious. Very good starter salad; not sure what kind of dressing they use, but it’s lovely. The eggplant arrived seconds before my main course and I was starting to think they had forgotten it entirely. I’m glad they hadn’t because I was pleasantly surprised: it turned out to be an entire half of an eggplant scored and then grilled to a tender, melt-in-your-mouth consistently and then drizzled in a sweet miso sauce. What a cool an unusual dish! I enjoyed it immensely. The futomaki was interesting. The veggies in it were largely unidentifiable due to having been pickled and/or chopped very thin, and I was curious about them, but the flavors all came together nicely so I tried not to question it. The veggie tempura was cooked just right but there wasn’t enough of it. I only got five pieces(could have eaten twice that!) so this is why they lose a star. I should have ordered the vegetable teriyaki like I had the first time; the portion was larger. Overall, it’s a solid restaurant– definitely worth a try.

I went here with a friend for lunch on a Tuesday. I’m guessing this is the only sushi place around because it was packed inside. There was a party of about 20 people, and I’m guessing it was a office outing. It definitely slowed down everything and it took a while for our lunch to arrive. When I arrived it took a few minutes for someone to acknowledge me. I was seated and waited for my friend. We both ordered iced teas, which was brought to us right away. We proceeded to order. The first two items that my friend order, they were out of… one of them being Asparagus! How is that possible? It’s Stockton! Isn’t asparagus grown close by? I ordered the Spicy teriyaki Chicken chicken plate. I shared the photo of my lunch on here as well. It came with miso soup, salad, rice, and the chicken. I must say that I wasn’t impressed with the chicken, I should have ordered the plain teriyaki chicken plate. My lunch tasted a bit like I just walked through the hot food line at Panda Express. It was just okay. My favourite part was the salad. The service was just okay. Nothing over the top. It did take a while for my food to arrive. However, I was aware of the table of 2 dozen people slowing down the kitchen. I’m guessing that this place is either owned or managed by Chinese people. I noticed that several staff members spoke English with Cantonese speaking accents. Yes, I’m Asian… we know these things. This was just my observation & I could very well be wrong. There’s plenty of parking in the lot. No worries there. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.
