If you are craving Taiwanese street market food while in Sin City, this is definitely a good place to go. Parking can be problematic and test your patience level at the ever so busy Chinatown plaza. The restaurant is tiny. Only a few tables. So perhaps ordering food to go is a better option. The owner lady is from Kaohsiung. It really shows from her warm demeanor. She was extremely hospitable and friendly. Treating every patron like family. The food is good. Almost as authentic as the ones in LA. The price is expensive for Taiwanese food but hey this is Vegas so it is to be expected. All in all a good option if you want Taiwanese food.

I joined Tony T’s UYE here last minute, well I was early but I didn’t plan on attending. After eating/drinking out for Happy Hour with a friend, they decided to go home and rest for a bit before going out again so I took this opportunity to hang out with the Unilocal crew. I was way early but it was good to sober up from the sangria, sake, beer, and specialty cocktail. Tony T showed up way early but I was in a food coma to move and join him in there 45 mins early. Unlike LA, which has had 6 Elite events within a 3 week period, the Vegas community is hanging on by UYE’s or have already broken off into their own cliques. So thank you Tony for hosting this UYE. Although I didn’t eat any of the food, I got it in with the dessert! The food was brought out quick and split between everyone. I was too full from sushi earlier but needed to try the salt and pepper chicken, it was good. In conclusion, I like Taiwanese style cooking. And I like fluff ice even moarr.

Thank you Tony! And thank you to everyone who attended! It was a most enjoyable evening trying/tasting numerous dishes I would have never have gotten a chance to without all your assistance and input. Great group of Unilocal peeps attending made me feel more than comfortable. I’m looking forward to eating/experimenting with you all again soon!

Thanks Tony! It’s always nice to eat family style with the Unilocal Family :) Of course this gives us a chance to try multiple dishes too. Of all the savory dishes ordered, my favorite was the pork chop rice dish. And from the different snow ices, I liked the Mango Mango. The blueberry was too sweet for me. I was surprised that I enjoyed the peanut boba and taro taro, but I would not come back to order them myself. Take a look at the pictures, the order is huge! You are welcome everyone, it was my pleasure to portion out the food! See you all soon!

What a great group of people to hang out with tonight! It was mostly a sausage fest until Debbie N, Amanda M and baby Petra showed up. Everyone was easy going about trying whatever we ordered to share family style and in the end we all were able to try a good sampling of their menu. We shared the following savory items: Minced Pork with Rice(very traditional Taiwanese comfort food) Taiwanese Style Sausage over Rice Pork Chop Rice(traditional bento lunch item served at the train station a generation or two ago in Taiwan) Cuttlefish Nugget Rice Noodle Spicy Wontons(not too spicy) Salt Pepper Chicken Nuggets Fried Rice Noodle We also shared all the shaved snow desserts, so we can get a taste of most of them for future reference. Matcha Shaved Snow with Red Bean Mango Shaved Snow with Mango Taro Shaved Snow with Taro(mild flavor, may not appeal to everyone) Peanut Shaved Snow with Boba Blueberry Shaved Snow with Condensed Milk Asking for small plates and bowls to share everything was no problem from the restaurant. Aside from a temporary confusion at the end when we were paying our bill, the evening was great from all parties involved in this dining endeavor. Thank you all for making this a fun night. Plus special thanks to Debbie for portioning out all the items we ordered.

What a wonderful UYE. Thanks to Tony T. for setting up this tasting of Taiwanese style Chinese food. My review is necessarily short, because I’ll cover the food in a review for the restaurant. This UYE is one of the most important reasons for being a member of Unilocal and being active in the Unilocal community. How nice to sit and talk with friends and newly met people! How nice it is to chat about food, Unilocal, our pets, etc. In short, Unilocal is a great way of trying new things, learning new things, and being with some very nice people who share your love of food. Thanks, Tony!

Mahalo Tony T. for taking us through a culinary cultural journey through Taiwan as we sampled comfort foods and traditional dishes as well. Tony also did a great job as our translator, which also made ordering pretty smooth as we all were down for whatever he ordered, and Debbie N. did a great job in portioning out each course! Each dish we tried was very delicious, and I can’t wait to return to try other tasty dishes! We were able to sample the following: Savory Selections SQUIDNUGGETRICENOODLESOUP PORKCHOPWITHRICE FRIEDRICENOODLES TAIWANESESAUSAGEWITHRICE MINCEDPORKWITHRICE SPICYWONTONS SALTANDPEPPERCHICKEN Dessert Selections GREENTEASNOWWITHREDBEAN PEANUTSNOWWITHBOBA MANGOSNOWWITHMANGOES BLUEBERRYSNOWWITHCONDENSEDMILK TAROSNOWWITHFRESHTARO My favorites were the pork chop, wontons, and chicken. Dessert faves were the peanut and blueberry because when you taste them together, it tastes like peanut butter and grape jelly…:9ALOHA!!!
