Midweek Munch

This is a weekly event where the El Cortez hosts a different food truck each Wednesday from 11am to 2pm in the Jackie Gaughan Parkway. If you don’t know where that is (I didn’t), it’s just west of the main entrance to the El Cortez and connects the main entrance of the El Cortez to Las Vegas Blvd. Where they hold Vegas Streats between 6^th St and Las Vegas Blvd. There is metered parking in the parkway accessible off of Las Vegas Blvd.
I finally made it down there during lunch and although it’s a little too hot right now to hang out and eat outside, I dig the concept. This week they hosted Foodslingers and next week they will host Lulu’s On The Move. You can get updates from Midweek Munch on Facebook or @ElCortezLV on Twitter.
The parkway is surprisingly peaceful and the palm trees provide some ambiance and shade. There isn’t really any place to sit except the curb, but in this part of town picnic tables attract homeless people unfortunately. So I think the lack of benches and tables is by design.
I hope they can keep it up! It’s nice to try new food trucks during lunch.
