Lisa R’s going away get together UYE @Taco Y Taco!

Talk about Unilocalers coming together for a perfect send off for not only amazing Unilocaler Lisa R. Unilocaler that been a pillar of Las Vegas Unilocal community. Lisa always embrace all the best things in Unilocal friendly, welcoming new Unilocalers open arms, great heart, great reviews, UYE (so who going do asian UYE now??), and Unilocaler that am blessed to have as friend. See so many other Unilocalers supporting one of our own makes me proud to be part of Vegas Unilocal Ohana. Sad day but at same time also one that we all celebrate new career opportunity for Lisa R. WE all know she going do well and sky the limit in life. Just make sure if ever make it back for visit. Unilocal community that misses you and always support one and only Lisa R.
Shout out Taco Y Taco for the Unilocal taking over the whole upstairs level. See Unilocal family again lot familiar faces some that been long overdue. Meeting new Unilocalers. Good times.

It was good but somewhat nostalgic to see Lisa R. again just before she leaves for a great opportunity in the Midwest to teach graduate students at Kansas State. For she will be missed at Las Vegas Unilocal functions.
This was a staggered event with people coming and going, so, arriving late, I missed some Unilocal friends entirely, but nevertheless enjoyed conversing with Anthony M. and Philip T. while I sampled Taco Y Taco fare for the first time.
Though I definitely favor Southern-​California-​style crispy tacos over soft tacos (so long as the taco shells do not come out of a box), only soft tacos are served at Taco & Taco, and my two Steak Tacos were tasty and quickly dispatched, along with a Cheese and Vegetable Quesadilla composed of melted white cheese, Green and Red Peppers, onions, and mushrooms on a medium-​sized Flour Tortilla. Homemade Guacamole was very good – smooth and mildly spicy – but the scratch-​made Tortilla Strips were hard, grease-​filled, not warm, and did not taste that fresh. But they held up well, and Inexplicably I enjoyed them more as a snack two days later.
Best of luck to Lisa. I look forward to seeing her again at Unilocal events in the Las Vegas valley in the future whenever she is able to visit!

One of the most well-​attended UYEs that I can recall in the past couple of years, the event last night was a great opportunity for many of us to see each other and to wish Lisa R. well as she embarks on the job of her dreams. What a nice way to be together and eat some food, the Unilocal way. As always, it’s great to see fellow Unilocalers in real life as opposed to just online, even if only for a little while. Lisa, we’ll miss you around here, but this is not really a good-​bye, but more of a «see you soon.» You certainly know how to get people together and that’s a testament to you. Good luck, safe travels, and SYOY.

I don’t attend many UYEs, but I had to make it out to say a fond farewell to one of LV’s finest Unilocalers, Lisa R. We chatted and ate and a great time was had by all.

While this was a bittersweet UYE, it’s always good when a group of Unilocalers have food, conversation, and laughs as we did last night at Taco y Taco. Sure, Lisa is moving to the mountains in Kansas – oh wait, no, she’s going to be a flatlander. Edit: (Oops. Lisa R is going to be a hill lady!) But she’s gotten a once in a lifetime career opportunity and we need to celebrate that.
The large table allowed most of us to sit together and as people arrived others needed to go on their way. I agree with Roger T. that the Mariachi band was loud but they did leave after 7:30 or so. Yet, we were all pretty loud so we didn’t need them to make noise for us!
Props to Taco y Taco for letting us have almost entire second floor for our gathering. That was quite a nice thing to do!
Lisa, we’ll miss seeing you at Unilocal events. The very best of luck in this new chapter in your life. Come back as often as you can to visit us.

Thanks to everyone who came or sent me messages who could not make it. It is very hard for me to leave my LV Unilocal Community but I am going to have a great opportunity in my new career so I am headed back to the midwest. I appreciate all of the support from everyone and had a lot of fun at Taco y Taco schmoozing with everyone who came from all over town.
Thanks also to Tetsuro P. who sent green tea kit kats via Amanda M. as a delicious parting gift. I hope to see everyone soon when I swing back through town. And for Norm K. — I am moving to the Flint Hills, so there may not be mountains but it sure isn’t flat! There are tons of hiking trails in the Flint Hills so UYE Hike in Kansas soon, anyone? It will be a lot cooler outside than it is here!

Glad we got a chance to say our goodbyes to a great member of the Unilocal LV community! Lisa’s presence and input on all things yuzu and japanese will be missed. As a fellow Texan, she was on of the first Unilocalers I met here in town.
TyT was nice enough to give us an upstairs area to have some reserved seating for our large group. This event finally gave me an opportunity to try them out after hearing so much.
Low-​key and casual, we need to have more UYE’s like this: except maybe without losing any members.
Congrats again, Lisa, on your new position! We’ll have to trek out to Kansas to visit you!

Since most UYE’s are usually fun and good times with good people, this one was kind of bittersweet. One of the nicest people you will ever meet has chosen to pursue a great opportunity in a whole other state.
Thank you Lisa, for being a good Unilocal friend. Every time I see your face, you are always smiling and are always in a good mood. You are so very easy to get along with. That is why I know that whatever you pursue in life, you will be successful. Im glad I got to see you on more than one occasion.
As for the UYE, it was good fun as usual with good food and good friends. Since I brought my wifey and kids with me, we could only stay for so long. I know some more people showed up after we left so my apologies for not being able to see you guys.

The only thing that was kind of a bother was that it was Mariachi Mondays. I have nothing against mariachi music, but the trumpets they were playing were loud and pretty much was amplified since we were situated on the second floor. My youngest son got a headache because of it. Lisa apologized for it but I was not gonna have any of it. That was out of her control and we were just gonna have to deal with it.
Props goes out to all that I greeted. It is always great to see you guys especially to say your farewells to Lisa.
Lastly, Lisa, whatever path you decide to take, just know that we all support you and that we will always be here. Im sure we will see you again. God Speed.
