Great idea & concept for new and upcoming bands, but such a very poor venue!!! Okay, let’s get real here. IHeartRadio is always in September(which, in my opinion is the hottest month of the year), so why don’t they do something about it! I am so upset because I left after seeing/hearing only 4 bands perform. It was extremely hot out there and there and the venue did absolutely nothing to keep us cool! There was no fan, no easy access to free water, no shade, nothing to help us keep cool down what so ever. Sure there were a few companies that offer all those things to a limited amount of people at a time, but you would have to wait in a very long line in the heat. Like seriously? Wait in an hour long line to get shade or free water?!? No thanks! My friends and I left early because one of my friend almost passed out of a heat stroke! She wasn’t the only one. I witnessed A lot of people actually passed out due to the heat! This is my first and last year going. I’ll rather hear it on the radio in the AC of my car.

We had such a great day at the iHeart Music Festival Saturday outdoor concert with Demi Lovato, Hozier, Tove Lo, Trey Songz, Walk The Moon, Nick Jonas, George Ezra, Tori Kelly, Echosmith, Lee Brice, James Bay, The Struts, Zella Day and Shawn Mendes. I-Heart really put this together well. Excellent surroundings, they put grass down, great drinks($ 9.00 per beer), Bud Lime! Yea!, free tap water($ 3.00 for bottled water), tons of fun events and giveaways away from the stage, Pepsi ice tent, free M & M candies, free Mazda crap, Tickets to the MGM show contests, lot’s of unhealthy food like hot-dogs($ 10.00) and cheese nachos. Fruit stand with Bananas($ 3.00) that all turned black by 3PM from the sun. They had a VIP area for people that are really not into the music but just like to come to events and make like a VIP away from the stage. They would never dance or raise their hands like us commoners. There was space to lay down on the grass or you could get up close into the mash pit if you desired. We hung out between the two moving closer to the stage between acts. They had a monster stage unlike your typical concert with a rotating deck, so they had the next act on in a few minutes since it was preset while the prior act was performing. DJ kept things going between acts. Very professional run concert. Definitely on my list to return next year. I could really get into this every Saturday if they had it. Memorable event.

This review is for the iHeart Music Festival Daytime Village. From MGM we took the bus to the festival. It was quite the wait. The sets for the line up was pretty short but good opportunity to see a variety of recording artist. There was no shade. They need more water stations in the 95 degrees heat. There wasn’t many food stall and was pricey as noted. For the General admission area the drinks/alcohol cost twice as much for the stall in the VIP section.

Even if one likes the music of Demi Lovato or any of the other acts that«performed» at the iHeartRadio Daytime Village… …after walking nearly 2 miles from the casino parking garage(all valets are closed or full, surprise, surprise), through a hopelessly unnecessary maze of green fencing that takes you almost completely around to the other side of the venue, baking like a lobster in the Las Vegas sun without any water(because Aquafina has purchased the rights to prevent you from walking in with water, just so they can make you buy one from them for $ 3), standing in lines for hours just to get the«right» to stand in the shade for 10 minutes, or standing in line for hours just to get some overpriced food or a crappy Budweiser for $ 9, navigating through a mind-numbing maze of «sponsors» who are more than happy to capitalize on your unfortunate situation in order to steal your money to make their CEO even richer… …after all that hell, to finally make it to the stage, through the maddening crowd, sweating like a pig and feeling faint from dehydration, you cheer as Demi Lovato walks on stage – – and then it happens, you watch as she LIP-SYNCS3SONGS — no shit, $ 125 a ticket to watch someone LIP-SYNC3SONGS and then walk off stage? What a f**ing joke. MGM — you people suck. Your greed is disgusting. The iHeart Music Festival Daytime Village is, hands down, the worst concert experience of my life. A perfect example of how corporate greed has ruined everything beautiful in this world.

As far as commercial radio, multi-night, arena music festivals go, this is it. Of course, this is the only one, but there is no need to bring up semantics. We have gone both years, and have enjoyed the hell of it both years, even though we are more used to attending ‘real’ music festivals like Coachella, Bonnaroo, and the now defunct Vegoose. Sure the event-goers are much different than one would expect at a music festival. Sure the MGM Grand Arena staff, most of whom should have retired a decade ago, are sour pusses and try to contain the fun. Sure passes are GROSSLY over*priced. Sets are too short, but I am sure JUST right(or even too long) for most; it seriously appears like most of the ticketbuyers(or contest winners) that attend this thing go to only one live music event a year(or two, if they can score Justin Beiber tickets). Food sucks because, well, it is in an arena, one with not-so-good food. Bring food in your pocket, like a Clifbar or cookies; if you are seen eating cookies or granola, a drunken middle-aged Midwestern lady is going to ask if it is pot(not because she is dropping the dime on you but because she wants some on her one night of debauchery in three years). It could be worse. It could also be better. Changes implemented this year from the inaugural show(2011) were pretty cool though. Neat idea re: wristband bracelets. — E
