Furry 5k and Forever Home Picnic

Attention dog lovers! This 5k is for you! The Furry 5k is probably the only race I’ve come across in Vegas where dogs are highly encouraged to participate in a 5k along with their owners. Registered dogs even get their own bib and fashionable scarf!
The Furry 5k & Forever Home Picnic was held at Sunset Park with proceeds benefiting the Animal Foundation. I participated in the 2014 and 2013 races which were held in November and oddly enough, on a Sunday. The course is flat and easy and follows the trails out in the park. There are plenty of water stations for your pup so they don’t get dehydrated.
The Furry 5k has a ton of pet related booths available for you to peruse. For both years, there has been a Science Diet booth that freely gives away decent sized baggies of dog treats to runners to take home. Yay for free treats!
Your registration to the 5k also includes lunch after the race! Again, this is the only 5k that does this (thus far)! I’m happy to report that there was a lunch option for vegetarians — a veggie burger with a juice.

and paid $ 30. I got a race t-​shirt and plenty of goodies for both me and my dog. I will definitely participate next year. Dog lovers unite!
