Elite Event: Jammin’ With the Jabbawockeez

I’m a little behind on posting my review, but that isn’t because I wasn’t impressed or thrilled to have attended this Elite event! Quite the opposite! As a +1, I got the inside look at the silly, fun and hip crowd that is the Unilocal!Elite, and boy do they know how to have a great evening!
Starting off with drinks at Rice and Co., I was thrilled when the cocktail waitresses and bartenders offered my preggo belly a non-​alc version of the evening’s cocktail– I would have settled with water, but the staff at Rice wouldn’t let that stand! After tasty libations and mingling with some elite, my gracious Elite guide, Jessica M., and I picked up the freebie popcorns from concessions and settled in for the show.
And what a show it was! I appreciated the audience participation, and comedy– the dancers are great pantomime-​rs and INCREDIBLY talented in their craft. The dance moves, of course, were awesome— would you expect anything less from the winners of America’s Best Dance Crew? I really enjoyed the overall message of the show– diversity, love, a rainbow of color– it was quite moving and a lovely cap to an overall stellar production.
I would consider bringing out of town guests and family to this show and seeing it again myself! That is saying quite a lot coming from a Vegas local who has seen most every show she can.
The Unilocal!Elite events are incredibly fun, and the added bonus of getting to meet the dancers was a real treat. I hope to attend more Elite Events and one day, be in this select group of awesome :)

I had never seen the Jabbawockeez perform before, and was looking forward to it. I was not disappointed.
The evening began with gracious hospitality and complimentary drinks at Rice & Company, as I compared notes with Philip T. about various Las Vegas restaurants. I appreciated that bottled water and nonalcoholic drinks were also served.
Next the large group of Unilocal Elites and plus ones moved across the Luxor’s mezzanine to grab complimentary snacks from the Jabbar and enter the theater where the crew performs. The dancing was of course great as one might expect from professionals, but I was struck by the colorful lighting, laser beams, and other special effects, and the interesting story lines and themes that were also conveyed during the 1−½ hour performance. At show’s end the dancers unmasked themselves, likely to show their individuality beneath the placid and universal expression frozen on their masks. The audience very much got involved in the production vocally and interactively on stage, and it was fun to take group and individual photos with the Jabbawockeez in and out of character right afterward. The free popcorn was good, too!

When I got the confirm I did the happy dance! I was really excited about it. Ive had kids involved in some winning dance crews in the Bay Area in the earlier years and now. Jabbawockeez were and still are the ones they look up to.
Pre Show time drinks at Rice & Company lounge area was pretty cool. The place was sectioned off for us. Servers great!!! They were ready with cocktails in hand when we walked in and served us throughout our time there.
Got there early enough to wander around and the staff working for Jabbawockeez was super friendly and helpful. They offered to take mine & Mr. B’s pix in front of the mural and gave us info on the showtimes and answered questions I had. And this was before I slapped the Unilocal badge on myself. Everyone is treated really nice here.
The show itself kicked a$$! Loved every minute. Great choreo! Awesome sound and lighting EFX. The show works for all ages and genres. Even Mr. B really enjoyed the show and he’s not into hip hop! I really loved how they mixed it up this time around. Very cool that they took time out for a special meet & greet for us before their second show. Thank you!

Ok, who doesn’t love a bunch of handsome guys who can dance!!! I know I do!!! And who doesn’t love mingling with a bunch of awesome Unilocalers???
We started off the night at Rice & Company for a few drinks. I couldn’t have any drinks, so I just got the specialty cocktail with no alcohol. (No guys, I’m not pregnant.) It was pretty tasty, so I can only imagine how good it would have tasted with the alcohol. Everyone was feeling good, so off to the theater we went. Tip: stay away from the popcorn. Total salt overload!
The show was fantastic!!! I saw them a few years ago when they were at MGM and I wasn’t a fan. I liked them on America’s Best Dance Crew, but seriously an hour and a half of JUST them was a bit much. But they have seriously revamped the whole show. Audience participation, humor, awesome music selection and the sick dance moves made me think twice about them! After the show, we got to do a photo op/​meet and greet. It was a little chaotic since we didn’t know which camera to look at and no one did a count down. And did I mention how freaking handsome they were!!!
Thanks Drew, Molly and Victoria for putting this together. Molly we will miss you!!! And thank you to the Jabbawockeez and staff for having our crazy Unilocal crew!

Damn fine Elite event! Much mahalos to Drew, Molly, and Victoria for this collab-​o! We had a great time. I even got to do my best (worst) impression of the Harlem Shake! Awkward!
After a long day at work, we hustled to get through traffic to get to the Luxor. Got there a bit late but managed to still snag a cocktail or 2 from Rice & Company before the show! The Mama-san’s Kiss (vodka — you’re my hero) was just the punch I needed before heading in for a good time. Was nice that we had two tickets for a free drink or concession to boot. Caramel popcorn, anybody?
I’ve seen the Jabbawockeez show twice when they were at the Monte Carlo. It was bomb! Makes me wish I could move like the crazy Bboys. But I guess I’ll just stick with being the finest Unilocal Elite I can be. Their new show ‘PRISM’ is just as off the hook! Sick! Sorry Katy Perry, not to knock your new album, but this is the O.G. You should go back to kissing girls (but please maybe let me watch ;-o).
Gotta love how the Jabbawockeez took it back by starting with some «Imagination» from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. LSD trip, yo! It really was a show that could only be seen in someone’s mind. So many sick moves! So many cool themes! Ninjas? Super Mario Bros? R. Kelly? How can you top that?
Liked the little intermissions when the Jabbawockeez crew would go out to the crowd and pick someone for a fun number. Those guys know how to pick em’ too. Married lady in the green skirt with the snake skin heels? Not too shabby. Just wish she knew her right from her left just a little bit better. LOL!
Overall a time well spent seeing the Jabbawockeez again and in fine form. It doesn’t even matter to me anymore that not all of them are the original crew. Gotta spread the love somehow! Just wish we could have stayed after the show to get pics and hang out with them. That would have been stellar. Had to go home and tend to the kiddies. Darn responsibilities!

Access to this event was very easy and I was pleasantly surprised that Rice & Company and Jabbawockeez were so close to each other (I was anticipating a long walk across the casino floor). When we checked in, we were given our show tickets and (surprise!) coupons to the JabBar for one free concession item! Yay!
Rice & Company’s lounge area was closed for our event and we were invited to an open bar! Servers offered specialty cocktails and wine upon entering. I tried the «Mama Son’s Kiss» (should it be «san»? It may have been a typo on their sign) containing Ketel One Orange Vodka, Yuzu Juice, Strawberry Purée, and Sweet and Sour. It was tasty but not overly sweet! Ruben (the fiancé) decided on a beer (Heineken), so he was a happy camper. We packed the place and it was a wonderful atmosphere to mingle and socialize! I was excited to see so many familiar faces from other Elite events (reunited and it feels so good!) and of course, meeting new Unilocalers (and friends)!
Because we were having too much fun at R&C and the drinks were flowing, we all rushed over to Jabbawockeez. Before heading into the theater, we stopped by the JabBar to get our complimentary concessions. Ruben and I chose freshly-​popped popcorn (yum!) and a liter of Fiji water (both normally priced at $ 8/​each).
I love the intimacy of their specially-​designed theatre that it makes all the seats great! I got row BB and an aisle seat, so I was pretty stoked! The show was so, so great! It’s so energetic, the music was amazing and just makes you want to move, I love the bits of comedy, and the audience involvement was a lot of fun! There is absolutely no question about the talent of all the dancers involved in the show and their dedication really comes through. You seriously couldn’t help smiling the whole time!
To top off an amazing night, we were invited back into the theater to meet the Jabbawockeez and take group photos. There were a lot of us, but fortunately we were able to speak to four of the main dancers briefly. They were all really great, especially since they had another group and another show at 9! Oh, and I can’t forget all the photo ops around the show and shop for even more fun!
Oh my gosh, we had a blast tonight! We received the ultimate VIP treatment and everyone was so amazing. Most importantly, the show was phenomenal and I highly recommend it!!! I mean, there are amazing shows on the strip, but this was the most fun I’ve had at a show in a long time. Thank you Luxor, Jabbawockeez, and our fabulous Unilocal Las Vegas team!

Enough of the sap, let’s get this show on the road… Rice & Co was kind enough to rope off a portion of their bar and were handing out generous servings of red and white wines as well as a signature cocktail (did anyone catch the name?). I drank three of them (and I am not a drinker) and I caught a nice buzz. It was nice to mingle with fellow Unilocalers and meet some new people in the Unilocal posse.
We were gifted two coupons to get concessions (whatever we like). Not needing anymore booze, my hot date (Kelli S.) and I got popcorn. (Thank goodness for that!)
The show was awesome. Sick moves, audience participation, and genuinely humorous moments. They were so in sync. I remember seeing the Jabbawockeez on the first season of America’s Best Dance Crew. They have gotten better since then (I didn’t think it was possible). The only lag in the show was when they picked the lady from the audience, that just went on a little too bit for my liking. Really loved the Prism theme and the play on colors. hout out to the green Jabbawockee! I heart you! My favorite part of the show and most memorable was the Super Mario Bros. nod. LEGIT, Y’ALL, LE-​freaking-​GIT. S
After the show, we got invited back to theatre to meet the Jabbawockeez, that was a bit of a hot mess because us overly camera happy Unilocalers and a group of high school kids.
It was a great event, with amazing people, and I am grateful to be included. Again a big shout out to the Unilocal Las Vegas team for another awesome event. Bön voyage, Molly! I will miss you and best of luck on your new journey!

Jabba O’ Clock couldn’t arrive fast enough!!!
After spending the majority of the day in Macaron madness (about a few thousand of ‘em), I clocked out,(5:55pm) made a mad dash to the Aria employee parking lot, zoomed (very safely) over to Luxor, pulled a Clark Kent (in the back of my car, not a phone booth), and checked-​in with Molly T., Drew-​Boo, and my Lil’ Unilocal Sis Victoria Q.(at 6:10) at Rice & Company.
All that hustlin’ beforehand left me HOT & TERSTY, and when I met up with Wifey, Regina, and Earl, a drink was already waiting for me and that was gone in 60 seconds! That concoction called «Mama-San’s Kiss”(Ketel One Orange, Sweet and Sour, Yuzu Juice, and Strawberry Purée) was SO GOOD that I went in search for another kiss from mama-​san while mixing and mingling with fellow Elites and new faces.
At 6:45, the moment had finally arrived, it was showtime! After a quick popcorn run at Jabbar, we took our seats. I’ve been a HUGE fan of Popping/​B-​Boying ever since it hit the big screen in Flashdance and Beat Street, and the Jabbawockeez PRISM show did not disappoint! they’ve managed to give Hip-​Hop dancing a theatrical, entertaining flavor to it, also adding a little comedy too! I was all head-​bobbin’ and hootin’ and hollerin’ every time bangin’ beats, sick moves and dance sequences would happen (which is just about the entire show!) To the poor girl sitting in front of me, sorry if your ears hurt, but I was just feelin’ kinda sorta TOO HYPED UP!!! Then again, who wasn’t??? The battle sequence between the Jabbawokeez and SuperCrew/​Full Force (TWO ABDC Champions rockin’ on the same stage. how SWEET is THAT!!!) and the Super Mario segment were awesome!!!
After the show, Unilocalers got a quick photo-​op with the Jabbawokeez and Super Crew/​Full Force members to end an awesome, memorable night. BIG MAHALOS to the folks at Rice & Company, MAD PROPS to Jabbawokeez, Super Crew/​Full Force for keepin’ the Hip-​Hop culture alive and well, and last but not least, Unilocalterns Victoria Q. and Molly T. (It’s been fun… we gonna miss you!) and our fearless leader Drew A… YOU DA @#$!IN MAN!!! ALOHA!!!

And, really, getting to see the new show at the Luxor with Mel, Drew, Molly, Vicky, Shirley B., Mr. B., Nelson, Sylvia, Tony T., Teri C., Reggie, Shawn, Regina, Earl, Jessica, Philip, Pam, Eric, Marie and all the other Unilocal friends that I only get to see in person sometimes. It’s always a great time when we can enjoy events like this courtesy of Unilocal – fun times, y’all!

I made a mistake of not eating beforehand so, I had a few drinks from Rice & Co (where the event started) and I was pretty much done. The cocktail server called it a «tropical fruity drink»…I didn’t care what it was called and what exactly was in it but it was so good I had 4 in 40 minutes… while mingling and giving my Unilocal friends hugs.
We moved onto the concessions called «Jabbar» which is Filipino slang for armpit sweat so I was iffy about getting anything from there but popcorn was calling my name. We had pretty good seats. Just when I was getting my seat warm, I got called to come up on stage and all I could think of was the bathroom… I wasn’t even paying attention what song I was dancing to. I was later on told that «hoochie» and «hood rat» were in the lyrics. Oh great! I got a hug from green Jabbawockee! Yay! Was I not supposed to tap somebody’s ass? Sorry blue Jabbawockee, I slap hard. I didn’t head kick anyone so I did well.
I’m a Jabbawockeez fan thanks to ABDC. But I’ve always enjoyed watching BBoys. Breakdancing, oh yeah! It was so neat to meet them and take pictures with them.
