Awful Key Lime pie. The texture, the favor, the crust — yeck. Not enough whipped cream to cover the the slice. Nothing about it was right. Don’t be fooled. Women behind the counter could use some lessons in customer service.

This is the best Key Lime Pie I have had in the area. I love Key Lime Pie and tried 3 other places before this one it beats them all! The location is super quaint and they are very friendly. They gave us a sample first and then we order two slices and coffee. My hubby and I enjoyed every bite! We will be back again and hopefully try some other flavors bc they all looked very delicious!

Do not go here for anything but the pie! And if you do come, take it to go. We saw relatively good reviews for this place so we figured we’d give it a try. Our first issue, the menu… I’d seen chicken pot pies on their online menu, so I figured I’d give that a try only to find that it was scratched off the crumpled up 8 ½″ x 11″ printed plain paper menus. How much does it cost to reprint a few menus if you are going to take something off the menu? Secondly, my kids wanted a jumbo hotdog on the menu, but the lady at the register stated they don’t have jumbo anymore, just small hotdogs. I pointed out that the chalk menu behind her was still listing jumbo hot dogs. To which she replied, «I know.» After deliberating awhile, I decided on a Shepherd’s Pie which the lady at the register stated«It’s really good.» My wife decided to get a Quiche with a side salad, and my kids got a hot dog. Then the lady that took our order went around the corner to their«Kitchen» and I hear what sounds to be microwave. Sure enough, the food comes to the table, everything on plastic styrene and EVERYTHING has been microwaved! The Shepherd’s Pie had some wonderful hot spots hot enough to burn your mouth along with cold spots. The egg in the Quiche was rubbery, and salad was warm. And what restaurant microwaves hotdogs? Thinking we may have just made a bad choice in ordering food and their claim to fame is their deserts, I ordered a Lemon Meringue, my wife ordered a Chocolate Silk pie, and we ordered cookies for the kids. Again, sub-par. The cookies were terrible, tasted like cardboard and food die, my lemon meringue wasn’t bad, but most I’ve had have been better. The ONLY thing that we had that was good was the Chocolate Silk pie.

Drive by all the time. Stopped in today. Very cute. Exactly what you would imagine a pie shop to look like. Service was wonderful. She offered us a sample of the key lime pie. Yummy. Got two slices to go. We ordered carrot cake and coffee and sat outside on the patio. Cake was dry but coffee was good. I recommend the key lime for sure

A little underwhelmed for starters there should only be three things in a key lime pie filling yours has many many many things so that is definitely not the original recipe like you advertise or made from scratch… more like a factory, the peanut butter was way to sweet not enough peanut butter and why on earth would you top it with butter fingers imo reeses would have complimented it much better from a candy standpoint texture and taste wise. The crusts were all prettt good which makes a good pie, but the apple was wimpy it barely had any filling and the salted caramel was way to salty i threw half of it away.

Amazing pie. Don’t get it late in the week. Get it early and eat it often! I had to finish it on the way to the airport. I ordered the key lime supreme, don’t even know what else they have there.

I know I will be back to this place in the near future, still smh wondering how I haven’t been there before. When you walk up to the door you find plenty of seating inside and out, the tunes are cranking, all is clean and décor has a front porch vibe. They have a small«small bites» menu and grand selection of pies, cakes, cookies, coffees and other liquid treats. I enjoyed the sheperds pie off the small bites menu, it wasn’t small in size, served piping hot and the taste was delicious. Before I left I took a slice of coconut crème pie too, that I look forward to enjoying later. The ppl working there were very friendly and welcoming to my large dog that sat outside with me while I ate. Yes I felt a little judged equivalent to the typical looks I get from the older crowd because of my hair cut but the owner quickly warmed up to me and we had great small talk. I look forward to checking out what the Sunday breakfast buffet is about, perfect atmosphere for it there. We will see what round two brings on the next trip.

I consider myself a bit of a «pie connoisseur» since I was raised on made-from-scratch desserts. Chips Ahoy and Sara Lee were not welcome in our home. My mom baked all of our cookies, pies and cakes from her flour stained Betty Crocker cookbook. The Pie Factory in Largo, Florida has been family owned and operated for 25 years. They are known for their Key Lime Pie recipe that has been handed down for generations. Personally, I prefer pies with fruit fillings so I decided to purchase the fruit pie sampler instead. The fruit pie sampler consisted of quarter pie sized portions from four different types of fruit pie: Apple, Cherry, Peach and Blueberry. While the crust wasn’t quite as good as my mom’s the crust was made-from-scratch, flakey and buttery. The Pie Factory uses a double crust on their fruit pie which I find incredibly important for a good fruit pie. Anyone can make a decent crumble topping, but a double pie crust requires skill. The fruit filling was fresh, not from a can. My husband really wanted to try the Key Lime Pie so he got a slice in addition to our fruit sampler pie. It was fine. I don’t think I am the hugest fan of Key Lime Pie so I’m not sure what makes a Key Lime Pie amazing. I could tell real key limes were used instead of powdered flavoring. My only negative comment is that the décor at The Pie Factory could use some sprucing up. There is not much atmosphere here so we just ordered our pie to-go. Also, I would suggest serving real cream with the coffee instead of the single serve coffee creamer cups.

Stopped in about 3p after a late morning of thrift store(just behind this bakery) bargain hunting to have coffee and pie before heading to the beach. So many pies to choose-so little time! Just to make my decision harder, Mary offered me a sample of their famous Key Lime pie – smooooth and delicious. But since my 2 favorite foods are chocolate and peanuts, I opted for the Peanuttier Peanut Butter – has a layer of chocolate on top and chopped up peanut butter cups over that! It was so rich I was going to save half the slice for later, but somehow it disappeared!?!

The hubby and I thought this would be a good place to get a slice of key lime pie before we left Florida. The name gave us high hopes that they would have fantastic pie. We were tricked. The pie was just O.K. We had a slice of key lime and a slice of bourbon pecan. Both of the pies had weird crusts. The key lime had a graham cracker crust, but it didn’t taste like graham crackers at all. The bourbon pecan pie’s crust was a traditional pastry crust, but it was way too thick, dense, and hard, not light and flaky at all. We also tried ordering a hot tea, but it never arrived. When paying the bill, they tried charging us for a tea we never received. Then the waitress tried making excuses for why it never came. It was a bizarre conversation. My recommendation is to skip this place and head down the street to Frida’s instead.

I really enjoyed this place.. . and my oh my! All the pies!!! I saw pies here that I hadn’t seen since my grandma made them such as strawberry rhubarb. I ordered a coffee and the strawberry rhubarb pie to eat there, then took home a bourbon pecan, a mincemeat, and a banana cream. The coffee was excellent, just for starters. The strawberry rhubarb I thought was heavy on the rhubarb, but was tasty nonetheless. The three pies I took home were good, but my favorite was the mincemeat — it tastes like Christmas all wrapped up in a pie shell. I’m ready to go back again!

After a long and tedious search of Tampa and St. Pete, I was able to find a Pie shop. If you want a dozen options and aren’t too worried about what they look like or that it may not all be home made, then this may be the place for you. Upon walking in you will notice the décor is dated. I walked to the counter and was greeted and proceeded to scope the display and menu. I knew from Unilocal what people recommended so I ordered key lime and French silk and was charged for water. We chose to sit out on the patio that evening and seated at a very used table and chairs. The table was rocking but we made due. The Key Lime didn’t do much for the aesthetic vote. It looked gelatinous, wiggly and much like it came from a can. With one bite, I had no desire to have any more. For being the best, it sure was sub par in my opinion. The filling did taste straight out of a can and I was extremely disappointed. The French silk had a little better look and tasted marginally better. It was sweet and seemed to be on a hard possibly home made crust. I sadly won’t go back because it was a long drive for me and was quite mediocre for me. However, if you do like pie it is worth a stop and try. The price isn’t too bad, but for me I’ve had some really good«home made like» pie, so I’m a bit cynical.

My husband and I stopped in during our last night in the area. We were craving a piece of Key Lime pie and we weren’t leaving Florida without it. So we decided to give this spot a try. And we were glad we did. Upon entering, we saw all the other pies lined up in their cases and we couldn’t turn them away. In addition to the Key Lime, we ordered slices of coconut cream and French silk with two hot coffees. Our intent was to take our treats back to our hotel, nibbling away at them throughout the night. But we didn’t make it out of the parking lot before we devoured all three slices like complete hogs. They were excellent. The people who worked there were friendly and the atmosphere reminded us of a place where the Golden Girls might have gone to get their cheesecake. We grabbed a brochure and read that the will ship anywhere. So I might not make it on my post-vacation diet after all.

Visited today on our monthly«cheat day». Wow. First of all, their selection is awesome. They have *everything* and the prices were great, too! I had the coconut cream pie, which was amazing. I don’t normally like meringue on mine, but theirs was great with it! I ALSO had(cheat day, don’t judge!) the peanut butter chocolate fudge pie… oh…my…god! If you are a fan of peanut butter fudge(and if you’re not, what’s wrong with you?!?) you HAVE to try this one. Soooo good! I ended up buying an Apple Berry Sampler pie, which was two slices of each of the following pies: peach, cherry, blueberry, and apple. NO, I didn’t buy that for me because it was my cheat day: P I bought it for my friends at the dog park, whom I am sure are gobbling it up as I type this. So good!

«Meh.» I really do wish that I could say more. The problem is that I’ve had Key Lime pie in Key West and that I’ve had apple pie from Frida’s. That said, if you’ve never had Key Lime pie in Key West, this is the best you’re going to get. It’s very well made, it just doesn’t have the tang that I’m used to. They serve primarily pies, but they do have a few other items at a time such as chili and quiche. Not a place to visit if you’re wanting lunch, but great for a piece of pie and a slice of the Keys.
