Steak ‘n Shake

Steak ‘n Shake — Store #284, 01/​23/​2016 @ 9:47 am for breakfast (includes previous visits, all times and days).
Overall: Inconsistent, shabby, slow food preparation and waiting service.
This is contingent upon the time of the day, day of the week and the amount of personnel that showed up to work.
Occasionally, everything can be prefect with the food and the service, but that is somewhat rare.
Caution is advised, but generally if there is more that 8 patrons and/​or less than 3 servers, just turn around and go somewhere else.

Prompt service, decent food, clean restaurant.
No complaints.

Came here with a group of friends to have a mini party and we had to stand around for at least 15 minutes because no tables were clean. An employee approached us and said that they would be preparing a table but after five minutes we were still waiting. We don’t think we are going to be retuning here anytime soon.

Slowest service ever, drive through for 8 minutes to repeat my order 7 times than nobody responds, went inside waited 11 minutes at counter to be waited on finally got food sandwich was smushed and all jacked up … Slowest and worst service ever… this is why I go 15 min out of my way to go to the one in St pete… they need to get their crap together or hire people who actually know what their doing

Quick and friendly service. Food was good, not spectacular. Pretty much what you would expect.

This store needs new managers as they obviously have no idea what they are doing and I’m surprised this restaurant hasn’t burnt to the ground from its mismanagement.

The employees are bickering like teenagers. It is not clean and it’s not pleasant. Sorry s&s. You need to do better than this.

This Steak and Shake needs some work.
I continue to try and see if I have a different finding.
With each visit to this establishment, I find so many things going on. First on entering, you notice the number of tables that are dirty, and just sitting that way. No one in the place is attempting to clean them off. Generally about 50% of the tables are dirty. This isn’t just not wiped off. But also left with dirty dishes, and glasses sitting.
The floors are slippery under your feet from the amount of grease on them.
In the past 3 visits I have noted the person that might be portraying management to stand and have conversations with employees and visitors for 30 – 90 minutes. This continues to go on while the dirty tables sit.
I have experienced having to wait to be seated while the manager continues her conversations.
I have noted many times when I visit there may be 2 wait staff, and one of them is doing the work.
Now the food. I only give 2 stars because the food is always good. Cooked well. The burgers are tender. Prepared just as requested. The milk shakes are also very tasty.
I always visit this place in the middle of the night. It is understandable the rules may be a bit more relaxed. However in my opinion as far as staff goes, there are many improvements that could be made.

I never learn my lesson. I actually got my cheese sauce because I asked to make sure it was in there. However my chili didn’t have any cheese or onions and the fries were atleast an hour old. I never thought I would say anything was better than Mcdonalds but Mcdonalds is 5 stars compared to this s**t hole. I wish they would close it down and put something better in its place!

If you are a burger and fries person this place is for you! They have meal options for $ 4 and under. It’s very reasonable to eat here. As a family who likes to go out but, is on a budget this is one of our favorite places to go. It’s always busy but, they work hard to get everyone seated as quickly as they can.

Literally every time we’ve been through the drive through here it takes like 15 minutes after we order to get our food. Every. Single. Time. If you get here an hour after breakfast starts they aren’t even set up yet for breakfast. Worst Steak ‘n Shake ever service wise. Maybe they need to hire more night staff.

We did drive up take out. Portobello N Swiss, Western BBQ & Bacon. Both were excellent. A little greasy, but excellent just the same. As fast if not faster than Mickey D’s or Burger King, and tasted a lot better. Had fries with both. Typical of takeout, food was just warm by the time I got home with it. I’d go again.

Typical Steak n Shake, but this one has great service. We have a large family, and they never fail to accomodate.

The prices are very reasonable, the staff meeting is very friendly. And the restaurant is very clean. The only thing I need to work on is keeping the bathrooms a little cleaner

The burgers are pressed thin and my wife and boys didn’t really enjoy them much. They all thought Five Guys burgers are far better.
I got a salad and it mediocre at best.
The shakes were very good. Everyone enjoyed them.
Overall… eh… My youngest said that he would prefer to get a burger at Five Guys and then just get a shake some where else than go back here.

Good place for a cheap meal. Milk shakes are great. One night we stopped by with our son and family from Pennsylvania. My son ordered a root beer float. We were almost finished with our meal and realized he never received his root beer float. We we asked what was taking so long the waitress said no one know how to make one and their trying to find out. We told them and it turned out great. We still laugh when we remember that.

The food sucked, but the shake was good. GO CAROLINE.

Usually better than 2 stars but last night there was 2 people working total and 4 tables of people. Um where was the rest of the staff? The waitress took forever as she was thr only one waiting tables then we ordered milkshakes and she was like oh really I got a make those too and it’s really busy… last time I checked we ordered milkshakes and you charged us for them so ya I’d think you should make them for us. I mean it is steak N shake right ?
Not a great experience and it took over an hour. Hopefully better next time

This is another place that I haven’t been to in years. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised on the value, cleanliness, and prompt service.
I had a cup of their Deluxe chili that was pretty good. Onions, cheddar ‘n jack cheese made for a tasty appetizer. For my burger I chose the Bacon’n cheese double steak burger with smoked bacon, mmmm! This was all washed down with a classic Mocha shake that was very good.
Good value, good favors. What more can you ask?

This location is open 24 hours, always clean and you can always find coupons! Not that you necessarily need them, the food is already pretty cheap. You really get quality food for the price.
I know it’s a chain but we love the food. The only thing is that your food order will take a minute but it’s totally worth the wait. It is not fast food people.
Solid burgers, fries and shakes but that’s really not my thing. I LOVE the vegetable soup with a side salad. Always fresh and delicious. Their ranch is creamy and thick, unlike the watered down crap you get at other places.
I really want to try their breakfast, they look amazing
