First time here and we have been looking for a «little Cuban shop» and we found it! Excellent Cuban sandwich for me and the wife had the combo of Mojo Pork yellow rice/black beans and plantains!!! YUMMY

I adore this little secret gem of a restaurant. All of their food is delicious. Most recently I ate the shredded beef, rice and beans. I sat at my favorite table… just me, a great meal for less than $ 10.00 and an old photograph of the St. Petersburg Million Dollar Pier circa 1924…

The food was okay I expected a bit more flavor from the rice and picadillo but they fell short, except for the beans and ropa vieja were awesome service on the other hand well the guy at the counter DIDNOT want to be there, we told him it was our first time there if he could suggest one thing over and he pretty much ignored the comment, the cook was more enthusiastic about being there and let us know all the silverware we needed was in our bag when we asked for a fork, thanks guy. If you have a chance to go some place else I’d pass this one.

This was my first visit to this spot. I ordered a pressed turkey sandwich on Cuban bread and rice and beans. I was surprised to find out they charge extra for cheese, extra for tomato and extra for lettuce(i didn’t find out until after my card had been swiped). The food was just ok. The staff was not friendly and didn’t speak to me beyond taking my order and bringing my food.

A place that says it has famous Cubans should at least make it right. A ton of ham, but one slice of salami and no roast pork, 1 pickle in the whole sandwich, and white American cheese. Not bad if I’d ordered a pressed ham sandwich. Garbage if you want a Cuban. Avoid it.

Very friendly and relaxing. Alot of people say it’s not a true Cuban sandwich, at which point I stress its called Tampa Cuban. Whatever you call it, I like them, though my wife who loves Cubans does not. She disliked the bread they use. This visit I was very disappointed to find they replaced their El Yucateco Green Hot Sauce(Habanero) with Crystal hot sauce(cayenne). Though good it’s a completely different taste and not the one I have come to love and associated with their Cubans.

My husband and I had soup and a small Cuban. He had the collard green soup and I had Spanish bean soup. Yummy!!! We’ll be back!!!

Another Unilocal win. 5 stars for the Cuban sandwich and collard green soup. 5 stars for red beans and rice. Chicken noodle kind of weak. Don’t let bleak strip mall scare you away. Mega!

Since this place is know for their Cubans That’s all I really came here to try. I walked up to the counter to order. They had it ready in the blink of an eye! They make them in the Tampa style By including salami and mayo. Some say that’s non-traditional But my taste buds say«Hey-O!» The bread was fresh and crusty With melty cheese and a lil pickle. The meats were good and meaty. It gave my tummy a yummy tickle! I hope to return soon to try some Black beans and Mojo pork. But driving there from Ulmerton Makes me wanna stab myself w/a fork!

Was really craving a Cuban sandwich. What I got was a ham sandwich with a super thin slice of salami and a super thin slice of pork. Very disappointed. Didn’t even eat it. It was takeout so I can’t attest to anything other than the Cuban sandwich.

I was craving a Cuban sandwich so I found this place in Unilocal and tried it for the first time. The Cuban wasn’t bad but it didn’t blow me away. I really wish it would have been made fresh to order, I think that would have helped the taste a lot. But it was still pretty cheap which really helped.

Got the ropa vieja and it was delicious. The rice and beans were good, rice was cooked perfect. Comes with warm Cuban bread that is seriously some of the best I’ve had. The inside atmosphere is cool.

RFTSC has the worst Cuban food, and perhaps the worst restaurant food, I’ve ever had. The only thing this has going for it is the pricing. A Tampa style Cuban sandwich has Cuban bread, ham, Spanish pork, Swiss cheese, pickle, and a mustard/mayo mix all pressed together into melty-crispy goodness. Substitute white american for Swiss, gelatinous meat for ham, tough salami for pork, and cold for melty and you’ll have an idea of the slop they serve here. I only gave one star because zero stars isn’t an option.

This is a reasonably priced Cuban restaurant with counter ordering and table delivery. There are three Cuban and other sandwich sizes to choose from. Their black beans and rice are perfectly cooked and very satisfying. Babies and toddlers will also love visiting as they have tropical decorations that are apparently mesmerizing to young minds.

I tried this place for the first time a few days ago. There’s not many Cuban places close to me, and I was dying for some Ropa Vieja. It’s located in a plaza off of East Bay, which I’ve been to several times as they also have a German, Mexican, and Thai restaurant, but I had never stopped in here. It’s a fairly large establishment, and appears clean. I ordered said Ropa Vieja at the counter, and they brought it to my table within a couple minutes. When done properly, this is one of my favorite dishes. However, theirs lacked any sort of distinct flavor, and I ended up using some of the chile habanero sauce to make it at least somewhat interesting. The rice and black beans that came with it were fair, and the chunk of Cuban bread was on spot. I left feeling full, but I felt the place only deserved a 2.5 after my initial visit. So, to be fair, I came back to try one of their Cuban sandwiches. They are called Really Famous Tampa Style Cubans after all. I ordered the 9″ Cuban combo which came with rice and black beans. The bread was good, the meat and flavor were okay, but it just wasn’t the best I ever had. I spent under $ 10 each time with a drink, and left feeling full both times. I will probably come back next time I need a Cuban fix, as they are close, and I’m too lazy to drive much further.

I just wanted to update my last review. Since then, I have received a lot better quality sandwiches(and thicker) than my prior visits. The staff is always friendly and speedy. I do wish that they would update, renovate or overall change the décor. It can look a little dusty.

I stopped here and got a Cuban to go based on all of these glowing Unilocal reviews. What a mistake! People raving about the Cuban from this place must be stoned. It was by far and away the WORST Cuban I have ever had. I placed my to go order(just a single large Cuban) at the register and the guy rings me up, runs my card and all that jazz. While I was signing the CC slip the same guy reached into a large Tupperware container that was sitting next to the grill and tosses a pre-made sandwich into the press. The container with all the pre fab Sammy’s are kept NEXT to the hot grills NOT in a fridge and no use of gloves was evident. I was grossed out at this point but still willing to tough it out in hopes of a bangin Cuban. No such luck. The sandwich was less than ½″ thick. One slice of processed pork(not real Cuban pork) One slice of lunch meat ham, one slice of salami and cheese. One tiny hamburger dill chip was on each half of the sandwich. No mustard. It was just a really pathetic excuse for a Cuban sandwich. Go to Tia’s on Ulmerton or try the Cuban Delight Café in St. Pete. I guarantee you will get a bomb Cuban at either of these places

While visiting Florida, I was told to eat cuban food A LOT. Wasn’t so easy having every day packed busy with things to do and just ate whatever was near by usually. This was the only place we went to for Cuban. My family and I came pretty near closing time so they were super nice still serving us. I don’t remember exactly what we ordered, I thought what was best was their Cuban Sandwich. Definitely delicious and worth it. The rest of their plates was mediocre. Nothing too special about them. At first I thought there was too much meat to the sandwich but after taking a bit into it, yum. I was dead wrong.
