This is the worst company, there is no customer service, after using them for 20 years, they opened the pool & dumped all the leaves in the pool, they said they would come back & vacum it when the water cleared, when we called to say the water was clear, they couldn’t come for a week as their employee was graduating. Then it turned green again, & we called again & were told that they had no availability to service our pool. They wasted 4 weeks of our summer, they really don’t care about their customers.

I can’t speak for the in store assistance on supplies and what not, but steer clear of this company for a pool installation. We used Lapeer Pool & Spa a few years ago to do an above ground install. The owner, Bill I believe is his name, is just a terrible person to deal with. He’s great when he comes out to first sell you the pool, a true salesperson who tells you what you want to hear. After you sign on the dotted line look out. He becomes this cantankerous old man who argues about everything, even when it’s his company that screws up. First problem came right away on the excavation. The guy who was subcontracted to come out with his dozer filled his dump truck with dirt and looked at me and said«where am I dumping this?» I thought he was kidding. He ends up having to call Bill on his cell to figure out what to do. Apparently Bill thought I’d just dump the 10 yards of clay in my lawn somewhere. Luckily a neighbor who has about 40 acres of property wanted some fill dirt for a low spot so we dumped it there. No idea what would have happened if not for that. Then came the install. The guys come out and first day put up the shell and sand bottom. After they leave for the day I notice the skimmer cutout is located exactly where my deck will be eventually meeting up with the pool ledge. It’s almost on the complete opposite end that I wanted it on. I already went over this with Bill mind you on where the deck would meet up with the pool. So I call him to ask about it. He tells me «well you don’t want the skimmer and return line anywhere near the deep end». I ask him how am I supposed to clean out the skimmer, vacuum the pool, etc if the skimmer box is UNDER my deck. He tells me to have the deck contractor put a removable lid on the deck surface so I can get to it that way. Are you kidding me? I say no, that’s not gonna work I want it moved to the opposite end where there will be no deck like we discussed. He proceeds to raise his voice saying«fine, but if you have any problems with this after the install it’s not my responsibility» and hangs up on me. So they fix that issue the next day, you can tell the guys working are pissed now. They are kinda flying through the process, much different demeanor than the previous day. Bill has them on a tight schedule I was told by one of the workers and they have to finish my pool that day. By the time they wrap up it is dark out, close to 10:30. The next day I have a massive lake in my yard as they tore the liner trying to stretch it to make it fit as the water was filling it. I could see the hole, about the size of a penny. I call Bill, he says are you sure it’s not just leftover water that spilled from the water truck. No Bill, I literally have a friggin lake in my yard you dope. So he sends a guy out to check out my complaint, and sure enough yep there is a hole just like I said. Then he tells me well we have a few other jobs to complete then we’ll get back to yours. I say Bill, you have all my money now, that is not acceptable. He says«well who told you to pay it all in full already». Umm your office did. Then he says well I don’t have the liner you picked out in stock so you’ll have to pick another one. Umm no, that’s the liner we want I tell him. So he gets all huffy once again and says fine, I’ll have to track one down and get back to you. They eventually came back out about a week and a half later and fixed it. No call backs asking if everything is OK, sorry for the problems, nothing. One more thing I almost forgot here — when they finished with the re-install of the liner there was a good 2 yards of sand left in a pile on my lawn. They had ordered way too much for some reason. I called the store(was done talking directly to Bill at this point) and asked what would be done about this. I was told I paid for it so it’s mine, nothing they can do about it. Great thanks. It took me a good 4 hours of filling a wheelbarrow and dumping it in an empty field near me to get rid of it. Then to top this whole experience off I got a surprise bill about a week later for an extra $ 350 for dirt hauling from the original excavation. Apparently it’s $ 350 to haul dirt next door. No mention of this extra cost beforehand of course. I did not pay this and he never sent another bill for it. I think it was his way of both trying to recoup the costs of having to fix their prior mistakes and also saying they were not coming back out to do any type of work on this thing, even if I experience a problem that was caused by them since he probably knew I wouldn’t pay it. This guy is by far the worst business owner I’ve ever dealt with. It’s unbelievable he’s been able to maintain a business like this treating customers this way. I guess once he has your money for a pool install job he could care less about you buying any supplies from his store. I’m sure I’m not alone with this experience. Most people don’t take the time to write reviews, whether the experience is bad or good.
