The atmosphere is 5 star, the service is 4 stars… but my food was only worth 3. Maybe if I had gotten a more signature dish and it wasn’t lunch time it would have been better. I had the fried fish sandwich. I plan to go back soon though! I hear the lobster mac and cheese is good.

I’ve been here twice before. The atmosphere is fantastic. I came here for lunch a few months ago and service was fair but the food was pretty good. I came P that week for drinks with friends. The bar staff was excellent and the food was fabulous. Today I came in for lunch. I can’t tell you how it was. It took a couple of minutes to be seated. But after sitting there for over 5 minutes without water or even a greeting from the server, I left. BTW, other guests nearby who were seated after me were greeted and given water. Guess I’m not the right demographic.

I liked it! I arrived late, on a Friday night after 9 pm. The décor was great, had an amazing ambiance that was very conducive to meeting new people. I was glad there was no cover charge. I was greeted warmly by the hostess and entered with further instructions. I did not eat anything but my vodka and cranberry drink that it took a half hour to get(but was nicely paid for by a nice gentleman) was so red, I had to question the bartender if he forgot to add vodka a couple of times. Many of the bartenders are male were all business and not very personable. I really enjoyed the experience.

They do have very good service here but the crowd… they are a little too fancy for my taste which takes away from the experience. Alot are just older men looking to buy younger women food and drinks. But they look like they are enjoying. The food and drinks are pricy but worth it. The service is great and the place is really nice.

Calling to confirm reservations very well done. arrival for reservations not good at all. we still had to wait quite a while to be seated. The restaurant is a very beautiful place and perfect for date night and or girls night out. HOWEVER: the service was not good the waitress never returned to the table to see if we needed anything many times we had to address another waiter/waitress multiple times and everybody’s food came out at different times yet it was cold. Ordered three meals for three small children under 6 that were sitting right next to one another. Only one of this kids meals came out. when we addressed the waitress as to where the meals were she said that they were on the way to the table,(30) minutes later here comes one more plate(the third plate never came) the food for the kids one of the kids plates we requested no lobster mac and cheese(because the kid is allergic to seafood) sure enough it was there. Customer service training is needed ASAP!

This was by far the worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. January 14th(yesterday) 2016 I went to this place for a my aunts birthday dinner, the food honestly has potential but, their food lacks in quality and flavor in most dishes. But the«SERVICE» is the worse, 1.) not greeted at all at the front door by host 2.) I walked around to find my party 3.) took forever to get a menu 4.) never was asked about a beverage of my choice 5.) silverware was dirty(very smudgy) 6.) food I feel like was definitely over priced by a lot on average each meal is about $ 35 and up which isn’t bad but the quality should be better than what I had last night. 7.) the waitress never checked on the table at all had to find her or address another waiter multiple times. 8.) DONTWASTEYOURTIMEORYOURMONEY people! Or better yet maybe with some better management they can be a fine establishment!

If they wouldn’t mess up reservations sooooo bad I would give them 5 stars, but I’ve witnessed reservation issues more than once, but this place is definitely for the mature 80’s baby crowd. Food & drinks are on point(good), the bar area stays exciting and packed, & the patio is nice to lounge and chat at as well. This place ia great for a date, girls or guys night out, happy hour, birthday dinner, meet & greet, etc.

Went here for brunch. Overdone décor. Over priced for both drinks and food. There was nothing really unique about it.

I read the reviews after I stopped in this place for some take out food. And since I don’t know the routine of this place, I had to get some assistance. Beautiful place, and great food. I was elated to learn that it was Black owned. YEA! Kudos for bringing this establishment to Lanham MD. I will be recommending it to my wedding couples. I enjoyed my take out anniversary meal. My only suggestion would be, to hold some of the salt on the shrimp, and your chief would know why. Married 23 years(hint, hint). Happy New Year!

Came here twice — once for brunch and once for dinner! Definitely was shocked the first time I came and saw that the place was actually nice. I mean it is located in a shopping center so one would not have high expectations, right?! Don’t be fooled by that — the ambience is very nice. Came in for Sunday brunch and folks were nicely dressed — glad I didn’t wear jeans(would have felt outta place forsure). So for brunch — I tried my staple, chicken and waffle(not too bad). I didn’t do the bottomless mimosas(the party I was with don’t drink so probably was best that I didn’t drink too much). There was an option for a brunch buffet, but we stuck to the a la carte option. Service was a bit slow in my opinion. Granted it was post church but no excuse to me. I wanted more water and it took over 30 minutes to get a refill. Recently came by for dinner with a friend. Again, noticed folks were dressed up. Glad I decided to put on a dress and heels. So I ordered the salmon, which the server highly recommended. It was just ok — kinda bland and cold. Not sure I would get it again. I ordered a drink and it was weak(like is there alcohol in here?) The server was very nice though. I would like to give this place another try. It is definitely a cute spot, but there is room for improvement.

First time here and I look forward to my return trip. The food was full of flavor and an incredible variety for decerning palates. The atmosphere was warming with live music in the dining room. The crowd was like a family reunion down for holidays. The grits were creamy and the Belgium waffles were light and fluffy. Jerk wings were on point. Ravens are winning!!! Yes this is a great Sunday!!! Sobe spot is a nice spot for a Sunday brunch for family, friends or just to come and sit and catch the game. You’ll need a driver so you can sleep on the way home.

I wanted so bad to enjoy my experience here. Great décor & atmosphere, but unfortunately… that’s it! I had reservations set for 930. Upon arrival, my guest and I were told we could wait in the lounge or wait area until our table was ready. Mind you, the lounge was packed and the diner area was basically empty. Seems the tables were set as people came in. The receptionist looked like she was either drunk or high and was walking around like a chicken with her head cut off. We were seated at 1015. When a addressed by the manager(I think his name was Mark) he said we could not be compensated for their lack of preparedness. Now on to the service & dinner … Didn’t take long for the waiter to arrive. After taking orders for our drinks and apps, it took at least 15 to receive our drink. Apps took may 20 mins. My mom’s calamari could have been good, but everything was soft. No crunch on the outside. Like it wasn’t cooked well enough. Some were even gooey. My bf said hers tasted like burnt grease. The jerk wings were really good, I think that’s the only thing I actually ate during my stay(guess you can’t mess up wings). My mussels weren’t cooked properly, so I sent those back. They were gooey as well. Then the manager comes back in the middle of our meal asking if he could rearrange or seating arrangements? Uh no … then I realized everyone had a plate but me. The waiter said she didn’t hear me order, so of course my food was late. I ordered the lamb chops, which was OK. The white truffle mash potatoes were very salty, and I only received 3 pieces of asparagus. My bf ordered the red snapper, and said it didn’t taste right. For 13 dollars, the drinks should come in larger glasses. My mom liked the salad dressing better than the actually salad. Then a younger manager came and spoke with our group Ave lightened the mood, but didn’t discount for the service. Because it was my birthday, he comped Me a cheesecake. Great presentation on that. 3 slices with different sauces on the plate … and those sauces was everything lol. Maybe it was good cause it was free lol. But anyway, they are WAY overpriced for what they provide. Their bowls are cute tho lol. I’m fighting the urge to give them a try for happy hour, I’d definitely get more jerk wings. SOBE… do better. It’s way to nice and overpriced for the service you provided. Plus I follow the head chef almost everywhere, I know he knows better as well. Train your staff, and taste your food. I know you can fix this!

Black people complain about the lack of black-owned businesses in United States, but find EVERY excuse in the book to criticize one when one pops up. Meanwhile, low budget joints like Ruby Tuesday will get 5 stars from them! PLEASESTOP with the self-hate. You KNOW you don’t tear down non-black businesses like this. Ok, now that I’m off my soapbox, I’m ready to honestly review SoBe lounge. Yes – the rumors are true: SoBe IS in a strip mall. Giant is right across the street, as well as a beauty supply store. What does that have to do with the atmosphere here? Absolutely nothing, because SoBe is GORGEOUS inside. Even the bathrooms are beautiful! It is apparent that the owners poured millions into renovating this space, because once you enter, you totally forget that you’re in a Lanham shopping center. The food – is bomb. I’ve tried nearly EVERYTHING on the menu, and I’ve been equally impressed with it all. Special mention goes to the Lobster Mac and Cheese and Ribs — sooo good! I have NEVER left disappointed, and I’m very picky. Each time I’ve come here, the quality seems to get even better. Service –pretty good. There have been times where a waiter has been busy, but they always come back to check on us. I find that water takes the longest to receive, but everything else comes fast lol. Price – NOTEXPENSIVE. lol I’m so sick and tired of people complaining about paying $ 30 for an entrée – this is not Friday’s. The price point here is very fair, reasonable and good considering how beautiful the atmosphere is here! Also, drink prices are the same price you’d expect to pay in DC — stop complaining about what you’re used to. Overall, SoBe is an awesome addition to Prince George’s County and I wish them much success despite all the haters. Lol

My mom and dad wanted to take me out to dinner, for whatever reason we decided to try SoBe. I guess because it’s local. I personally do not think this place will last too long. The service was extremely slow because the kitchen was«backed up», which is an awful excuse for a restaurant. My mom ordered jerk chicken I ordered curry chicken while my dad ordered a goat stew type thing. I believe the night we went, they were having some event with a local radio station, so I think they had a special menu. Nonethless, Our chicken were alright, nothing to run home and tell mom about. But my dad’s stew was not good… at all. Seemingly, the goat was pan-friend instead of marinated which defeats the purpose of a stew. It was just over-cooked! By the time we got our food, we had already been waiting for about 45minutes to eat, so we didn’t even feel like complaining. The bar seems to get«poppin» at SoBe’s, so if I am in the area and have absolutely no other place to go for a drink… I’ll head over there. Also, they don’t just hand out dinner rolls, you have to ask… which is odd. Oh and it’s over-priced. Update: I decided to give SoBe another chance… this place isn’t THATBAD. I ordered the jerk wings this time(after happy hour) and they were pretty good. Again, this place is STILLOVERPRICED. So, maybe I will check it out during happy hour. Also, the service was much better! Oh, the décor is pretty inside!

This is strictly a Brunch review: Ambience– Very nice, upscale looking restaurant. I can’t wait to have happy hour at their bar(LOL). Brunch was buffet. They had a nice spread which included some huge, delicious crab legs and shrimp n grits. Mac n cheese was excellent. Price– $ 35 for the buffet, $ 10EXTRA for bottomless mimosas. I’d say it’s a good place to go to if you have money and wanna eat good without heading into the City. Oh! The servers and hostess were very pleasant. Recent reviews gave this place a bad rap but I had to see for myself since the brunch chef from BarCode was doing brunch here now. Price is the only reason they get 3 stars from me!

If you live in the Bowie area and are looking for a beautiful restaurant to have a drink, then give SoBe Restaurant and Lounge a try. The drinks are generous and the wait staff were absolutely charming. I went with a group of 20 colleagues and we went for dinner and drinks. We started our meal with the crab and shrimp bisque. It was creamy, thick, and full of chunks of seafood and vegetables. For me, the soup was the highlight of our meal. We were also served a large dinner salad. The salad had cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, and cheese. Unfortunately, the salad was drowning in dressing. I know now to ask for dressing on the side. Previous reviews were positive about the house fried chicken. I was not a fan. The chicken was burnt on the outside and lacked any taste. It was served with lobster mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was bland and forgettable. The spinach was fresh and seasoned properly. I loved the modern design and upscale style of the place. But, I agree with other reviewers that for a steep price the food should be memorable. I don’t think I have ever not taken home my leftover chicken, but I did tonight. I hope SoBe can work on making the food as enticing as the restaurant design.

Looks like the drink prices have gone up. It’s more than a upscale restaurant $ 17 dollars for a «Grey Goose and Tonic» What??? You have to be kidding me, right? The dress code has gone down hill. Certain people make it in with jeans/sneakers The age group has changed to 40 – 60 years old. The owner doesn’t pay attention to what is missing or should be added to the business. He is too busy partying himself.

I live in the local Area just off Martin luther king rd in the new development, found this place by accident the day before and decide to come on sunday… Worse Idea. Up tight bar for a small area… it wasn’t even 1pm and they were turning people away on a sunday brunch… not even full… some guy(prob a manager and whispered to the girl not to let us in). Very disrespectful and poor management. We were dressed straight from church, so attire was not an issue… Im from London and i know expectations with certain restaurants/lounges so i was very confused… at this rate they won’t last long. I own a business myself and customer service is important in a customer focused industry like a lounge. I’m not impressed with it at all… being a local home owner and business owner. Half Note will take the business…

The ambiance is breathtaking. The was subpar at best. The pork ribs were tough, the wings were just okay and the SERVICE was not up to par. While I understand that this is a fairly new establishment, I believe more training is needed. For example, I was not greeted when I arrived at the bar and when I was finished with my food, it was not removed without me asking. IF I return it would be for drinks only. In addition, the crowd is 40 and up. This is just my opinion One last thing… I was not interested in seeing the staff behind the bar(in plain view) with Giant bags unpacking Libby’s Pineapple juice and Giant brand Maraschino Cherries. Not very professional.

If you’re looking for the ambiance of a nice lounge spot, then this is the place for you but don’t expect much else. The atmosphere is great for a lounge but there is nothing special about the drinks. Now on to the restaurant side. The service was good but the restaurant(which is on the other side of the wall from the lounge) was a bit too noisy for my liking. Maybe they could employ better soundproofing or maybe that’s the vibe the owner is looking for. What disappointed me most was the food. If this place wants to charge high dollar amount for their food, then it should taste that way. The food was quite bland and the $ 40 ribeye wasn’t the best cut of meat. I’ve eaten in some of the best steakhouses and some of the worst. That steak taste like it came from the freezer section of Walmart. I left half of it on the plate. I could only get through three bites of the sautéed spinach. My wife said her grilled salmon was«ok» but she said that she couldn’t eat the vegetable fried rice and the lobster mac and cheese was lacking flavor. I can’t justify returning to this place… and I didn’t even describe how uncomfortable the seats are at the restaurant table.
