I have been here twice. Both times were for Sunday brunch. Reservations needed. For the first time, I ordered the pork belly tacos and I loved it. For the second time, I ordered the Aussie Brekkie. It was just okay. It was different. The toast didn’t have any flavor. Maybe it wasn’t my cup of tea. Because my first visit was a lot better, I’m still a fan and will give the 4 stars.

The GOOD: Lamb shoulder over lentils was grilled perfectly! Very nice albeit simplistic take on warm German Potato Salad. Attentive staff and nice décor. The BAD: Tea tasted like a glass of water MAY or may not have been carried past a tea bag on the way to our table. Very weak. One pre-dinner bread roll offered per person. I felt like Oliver Twist asking for«more please» TAKEAWAY: Will definitely give it another go. Would have easily given 4 stars with a better effort at a simple glass of unsweetened tea and keep the bread rolls coming. A bit pricey for these shortcomings. The entrées were awesome but the little things count too.

Wow! First of all the décor and overall feel was great. Outstanding service as well. My friend and I took advantage of their«pub» dinner specials. The steak was perfect in every way. The schnitzel was also extremely good. We also had the duck carbonara(regular menu) and that was very good but could use a bit more flavor in my opinion, perhaps it is left bland to enhance the duck? Anyway some sriracha would have jazzed it up a bit but that is my own personal taste. The real highlight for me though was the cocktail I had. I think it was called the fox or mr fox or something but its cold brew coffee and vodka and OHMYGODITISSODELICIOUS!!! It is probably good for myself and those around me that I don’t have the means to make that on my own time. I will definitely be back here. Love!

What a great restaurant, honestly. My boyfriend and I went here around 8:30pm and the atmosphere was great. Dim lights, great waiters who cater to your every need, delicious food and good company. The menu is on the expensive side but you have to realize they offer vegan and vegetarian options. I fully enjoyed the restaurant and will very much be going back.

How do I capture the essence of the experience? The atmosphere all around us was filled with a strong sense of quality and care — making us feel both right at home and a tad excited to explore their menu. The experience was so enjoyable that we’re definitely making plans to make another visit soon. We can’t wait to try their brunch — although I’m guessing my wife is more anxious to find an opportunity to try their dessert menu. Food: Dishes ranged from very good to exceptional(see detail below) Ambiance: The environment was warm, inviting and comfortable. Service: Fantastic. From the prior Unilocal reviews, it appears they change up their menu with some regularity, but I’ll give you the quick rundown of the food we enjoyed: Trout Tartine: A very well balanced dish. A perfect light starter. Salt & Pepper Calamari: The calamari was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The sauce was too sweet for my taste, but I was more than content to eat the calamari without the sauce. Roasted Broccoli with spinach pesto: I’m shocked that I even suggested we try this(as I’m not known for voluntarily ordering vegetable dishes). I really enjoyed a vegetable dish… there I said it… I really did enjoy a vegetable dish… I still can’t believe it, but I did. I’m actually going to allow my wife to talk me into trying the Crispy Cauliflower dish next time. Grilled Half Chicken with warm german potato salad: The star of the show — a very impressive dish. It takes a lot to impress me with a grilled meat entre. Crisp skin, tender juicy meat… I’ve got to get a lot better at writing Unilocal reviews before I’ll be able to do this dish justice. This was the best grilled chicken dish I’ve had(note the lack of caveats). We enjoyed meeting and chatting briefly with both the Aussie and The Fox — the owners/operators. Maria, the bartender and our server for the evening, was courteous and genuinely helpful. During a meal laden with superlatives, her service stands out as noteworthy. All of that said, I’m not sure what is most responsible for our enjoyment of the experience; was it the food, the service, or that essence — the continuous sense of quality and care that was exhibited throughout the night(e.g., as we observed from our barstools how meticulously they prepared cocktails and coffees for other customers)? I suspect it’s the very rare combination of all three that made it so much fun. Thank you to the team at the Aussie and The Fox.

Aussie & the Fox is an easy choice for a nice brunch or dinner with family, out of town visitors, or a girls night out. The ambiance is completely welcoming and relaxing, which has a little bit to do with the attitude of the servers. The hostesses and servers are very sweet and knowledgeable of the menu. I always feel like our table is the only table in the place because I never notice or hear the other tables. The food, while on the pricier side of Lancaster cuisine, ranges from burgers to more exotic dishes, all of which have a local flair or Australian spin. Needless to say, the dishes are quite interesting and sure to leave your taste buds impressed and your wallet satisfied with your purchase. They take online reservations, but we have also been accommodated as walk-ins with little to no wait. After living and eating in Philadelphia and New Orleans, I have gotten accustomed to the unconventional dishes, or restaurants with character. Its wonderful to have a Lancaster restaurant with some personality in the food, yet still pays homage to the local fare!

Being in Lancaster for the first time over a weekend for a wedding, I’m always looking forward to trying out the best food the town offers. Unfortunately, Aussie and the Fox did not make the list. The Bride & Groom-to-be picked this place to treat their bridesmaids, groomsmen, immediate family, & their plus ones, to a nice brunch as a thank you for being a part of their wedding. The Bride made reservations for a big party, so the restaurant limited us to 4 menu items. The Bride organized the brunch & had us all pick out our dish online weeks prior to the day of the brunch. My BF ordered the Eggs Benedict with Lebanon Bologna & I had the Steak & Eggs. Even with limited selections & ample time(3 weeks) for the restaurant to prepare for this brunch for our big group, it took OVER1HOUR for half the group to receive our order &OVERANHOUR& A HALF for everyone to receive their order. The portions were small & the presentation of my steak & eggs was sloppy(as pictured). The over-easy egg was flipped upside down. The taste was nothing special. My Steak & Eggs came with about 4oz of steak &3oz of overly cooked hash browns. The steak was cooked to my preferred temperature & it was pretty good. The hash browns were a little burnt & wasn’t enjoyable to eat. The muffin that the poached egg was on for the Eggs Benedict was hard to chew. The hollandaise sauce & Lebanon Bolgna tasted okay. The wait was horrendous & we were all very hungry. Not everyone got their dish, so we waited another 15 – 30 minutes for the rest of the group to get their food. The staff didn’t even apologize during the wait or even inform us on how much longer it would take for us to get our food. The waitress apologized to the Bride & Groom AFTER we started getting our food. Overall, a terrible experience.

This place is beautiful from the moment you walk in! My sister and I went for her birthday for brunch. Everything was lovely on the inside, even as we were greeted by an Australian! The food came out quickly and it was scrumptious. Australian Brekkie and Steak and Eggs. We also drank the apple celery ginger drink and it was very refreshing. Will definitely return.

I went here for dinner last night. The food was good, and our waiter was amazing. He was so friendly and relaxed, and was OK with us hanging out in the same spot for an hour after dinner. The restaurant is real swanky, with very nice décor. Wine was great. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is that the food is kind of bland. It’s not bad, but it’s boring/bland. Overall though, it’s a great place.

I’ve been to Aussie for brunch, dinner, and late night drinks. Each time it was amazing. Their brunch options were great, mimosa was on point. The atmosphere is comfortable. Definitely a spot to check out.

Wish we could’ve stayed longer, but they were busy. Great cocktails. Had a Bloody Mary and my husband had a bourbon tea. His drink was a bit sweet, but delish. The Bloody Mary had very fresh tomato juice. It was really tangy! Our brunch was nice. I had the Aussie brekkie and he had the chicken and waffles. My other friend had porkbelly tacos. She loved them. The brekkie was very unusual and good. The sweet potato fries were very good. The Brussels sprouts were everyone’s fav! That’s right, Brussels sprouts. They were fried in a citrusy glaze. Overall I would come here for brunch, again. It’s a little pricey, but it is beautiful inside. Overall good place, interesting plates, nice service and great drinks.

I’ve been coming to this very fine restaurant for years. It is the twinkle of Lancaster City’s eye. The cocktails are inventive and delicious. You have to try the Crispy Cauliflower and The Aussie Burger! It’s a perfect blend of Australian inspired American dishes with some very welcome surprises along the way. The kindest people work here. They laugh. They have fun. They quickly make right on the rare chance something didn’t come out to your liking. They have the best service in town. Locals and tourists alike love this place. It’s certainly my wife and my go-to for any occasion including anniversary, dinner before a movie or play, brunch after church, Friday night out on the town, etc. Go. Enjoy. Thank me later.

The atmosphere is nice. I got the mushroom gnocchi which was pretty decent. The Affogato was a good dessert too. Will probably come back again at some point.

My wife and I gave this place a try for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. We were sat at a side 2 person booth by the bar. Our service was absolutely horrible. We were serviced by the bartender who came and served us both a small water and we both asked for coffee. After about 5 minutes the bartender came over and apologized for not being attentive to us, however no coffee in tow. We reminded him of the coffees and placed our order. In a 15 minute time span all we both received was 2 small waters. My wife and I both ordered frittatas as well as the pork BBQ hash starter, any a bloody mary for myself Again we were forgotten by the bartender who again came over after about another 5 minutes, this time joking about his unattentiveness which neither of us found funny, no coffee, no bloody mary, but a small pitcher to replenish our small waters. I saw a bloody mary sitting at the far end of the bar and wondered if it was mine. After about 10 minutes we received our starter and I inquired about the bloody mary in which he said«Oh my gosh that’s why it’s sitting there!!» The bloody mary at the end of the bar was indeed mine, now watered down from the bartenders neglect of the 2 of us, which he again inappropriately joked about. As for the food, the pork BBQ was excellent, however the frittatas were bland and lacked flavor. Will not be going back again. For all the hype this place receives you would think they would have better service and more then mediocre food.

After reading mixed reviews, I felt compelled to share my experience. As with most eateries of higher-than-average quality, if one orders an average dish from the menu, one should expect a relatively-average dish. If you want something exceptional, order something exceptional. And, here you will find it… and you will not be disappointed. I started off with the baby lettuces salad, substituting Linden Dale chèvre for the cheese curd. I paired that with the house Malbec, which I have to say was above average and in keeping with the price of $ 8 a glass. For my entrée, I ordered one of the specials: coffee-braised ribs with greens and chèvre-and-corn-infused grits. In one word, exceptional! The stack — and there’s no other way to describe it accurately — of meat was perfectly flavored, perfectly slow-roasted, and served in the middle of a reasonable mound of the grits… which were, in turn, ringed with a drizzle of juice from the pan in which, no doubt, the ribs had been braised. Perfection. To finish this delectable delight, I managed room for a crème brûlée paired with a decaf espresso infused with a shot of Baileys. If you want exceptional food in Lancaster, a town not short on places to eat food of every stripe and star level, visit the Aussie and the Fox… and be sure to order something special. PS — The bartender for the evening, Maria, was courteous, knowledgeable, attentive, and helpful. She is a genuine asset to their team.

Aussie And The Fox is trying way too hard and, quite honestly, they cannot pull it off. We had a group of eight or so, with reservations, on a Saturday evening. We were celebrating a friend’s birthday; he had been before and raved about the food. I was very excited to dine there as well, as I had also read glowing reviews about their burger. I love burgers. Our waiter was nice enough, although not always present. He was able to handle our group relatively efficiently, but probably could have been slightly more attentive to our group. He did not appear to have many, if any, other tables. We, as a group, ordered drinks and appetizers and shared our food around the table. The brussel sprouts were yummy, but most of the other appetizers really fell flat. The chicken parm tartine was nothing special; cold chicken on bread with some relatively tasteless cheese. The country terrine was bland, and the mussels were what you would expect from most any restaurant. For our main course we had the burger, monkfish, and market steak. The burger was super simple, cooked medium well as requested, but lacked any originality. Such a forgettable burger. The monkfish came out almost room temperature for all of those who ordered, and tasted very bland. The fingerling potatoes that came along with the monkfish were also lacking flavor, which is rather difficult to pull off. You can bake fingerlings in a cast iron skillet with some olive oil, salt and pepper, and they are always delicious. What a shame. The steak was expensive, pre-cut, and not very exciting. Everyone agreed… meh. We were duped; our dinner was fool’s gold, at the cost of pure gold. Aussie And The Fox has a grand vision of what it wants to be, but sadly they cannot live up to their own lofty goal.

If I lived in Lancaster, I would haunt this place. I rarely give 5s unless a place really leaves an impression on me. 1) best bang for your buck — large portion sizes. 2) customer service is on point — we were tended to by our kind waiter, not too much that it got overwhelming, and not too little that we felt forgotten. They also were very informative on the food 3) they seem very community oriented, besides having good décor, awesome music, and delicious food, they have freaking themed nights along with movies they show. This place is perfect for brunch with the parents, a drink with friends, and date night. Can it get any flipping better? No. Food: Got the chicken and waffles — the best so far that I’ve had on the east side(I gotta go to the south of course) And the smoked salmon frittata– which was delicious! Sister got the pancakes and they were huge! I am definitely due for a visit again soon. But yes

Delicious brunch options. Great ambiance. Super fun décor(the large orange seats and such are creative and fun, and exposed brick is always a favorite of mine). Delightful and hospitable staff. Aussie And The Fox is the kind of place I’d visit for brunch or drinks on a regular basis, for sure. It doesn’t hurt that the mimosa was delicious(okay, and the Bourbon Billy Tea was pretty yummy too). My Pork BBQ Has was a bit fatty and could have used more BBQ flavor, but was otherwise very tasty. I sampled the veggie frittata special that my cousin ordered for brunch as well, and it was also pretty good… she just happened to think it was a bit too egg-y for her taste. My cousin’s husband ordered the pancakes though(2, not 4, considering they were pretty sizable) and was very happy with them. TL;DR Would definitely visit again at some point — for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Loved the feel of the place.

Popped in for brunch — had the«Beet-L-T», made with local ingredients including the best Chevre goat cheese ever. They also pull one of the best espresso shots in town, using Gerhard custom blend.
