Waxing the City

Went in for an eye brow wax and left still looking like I needed an eye brow wax. I have been going to this location every 5 – 6 weeks for 2 years and unfortunately the experience gets worse each time. This time was just unacceptable. I should not pay $ 20+ on a wax and have to go home and ‘finish the job’.

After finding out Natalie was leaving I asked her who to go to in her place. She recommended Carly who is amazing. She takes her time on your eyebrows and is very friendly. Ask for her. She’s great

Rebecca is perfection. She was so professional and kind. Although I couldn’t make it to the end of the Brazilian (first time + I’m a baby) Rebecca was super cool about it and made me laugh it off no big deal. And they didn’t charge me for the service. I bought a product at check out, Vanish pfb chromabright for ingrown hairs that Rebecca recommended and it is legit amazing stuff. This place was off the charts. I’m definitely going back (but not for a Brazilian — ouch! I don’t know what possessed me)

Waxing the City was the first place I ever got waxed at and if it wasn’t for the fact that I was moving at the beginning of July it’d be the only place I ever got waxed. I was new to the waxing scene and when I first called the receptionist was so knowledgeable and answered all my questions and gave all the reassurance I needed to book my first appointment.
I did my waxing with both Brittany Fuqua and Ashley Volk and both are AMAZING! These girls make any awkwardness go away and still maintain a professional manner. They are meticulous about getting the area completely hair free which I can really appreciate considering that some of my hairs are fairly fine.
I highly recommend coming here! All of the workers are so friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. Also I do believe that first timers get 50% off their services so make sure you let them know!

This was the least painful bazillion I’ve ever gotten! The esthetician was through, she didn’t leave a single hair behind and even did the patch below my belly button without being asked.
It is a clean and relaxing environment.

I have been to waxing the city 3 times now, once at this location and twice at the DTC location (which I couldn’t find listed on Unilocal) and I have seen two different technicians. Ashley at the Lakewood location and Analize at the DTC location.
Each time the locations have been clean, brightly lit and with a professional atmosphere. Both of my technicians have been extremely nice and have made one of the most uncomfortable situations comfortable. I’m a paranoid person and was very nervous about my first Brazilian, but Analize was very kind and put me at ease. Now a Brazilian will be part of my regular maintenance and I doubt I will ever go anywhere else! Always quick, and as painless as they can make it. I have never broken out or felt sensitive to their wax or products they use, and I’ve never felt judged.
Also they have convenient locations and easy online scheduling. I would highly recommend this practice for all waxing needs!

I just had my very first visit ever with Ashley and it was fantastic! She made me feel very comfortable and less scared about the experience. The staff was so friendly and kind. I will definitely be back!

I’m no girly girl (not that there’s anything wrong with you ladies!) and I’m as awkward as they come on the rare occasion I have anything waxed, plucked, massaged, pedicured, manicured, highlighted, etc. But I love this place.
Efficient, organized, welcoming, clean, attentive and skilled.
I had Arianna and she was sweet and talented. My eyebrows look awesome a week later. I will definitely be back.

There aren’t too many top quality wax studios in town, and I’m very picky about this kind of service. I was looking for a studio closer to home and came upon this one about a year ago. Long story short, I never left. Britney’s attention to detail is fantastic. Cami at the front desk is a gem. Prices are on par with the service (not cheap) and you’re treated like family. Highly recommended.

Everything and everyone here is amazing. I’ve been to this location for quite a while now and all I can say is WOW! I’ve had a wax with every single esthetician working there as of January 2015. My favorite person there has to be Kami, the awesome girl at the front desk! There has not been a single time that I’ve been there and she isn’t there smiling at every person that walks through the door, and she’s always amazingly polite on the phone! I’ve even witnessed a woman be extremely rude to her and she handled the entire situation gracefully and kindly, her great customer service skills never falter. All of the beautiful girls that work here are so personable and friendly, very talkative, and so inviting and warm that even my first time getting a wax I was talked through the entire thing and never felt less than pampered and welcome. This place is amazingly priced as well, I can’t say how pleased I am with every one at this location, and I’ve never had less than a 5 star experience. Thank you!

Ashley was super professional and funny. I was nervous about getting a bikini wax but she made me comfortable and talked to me the whole time so my mind wasn’t on how much hair was being ripped off my body. Plus, you get 50% off your first visit — yes! — and no tipping.

Most importantly this was the BEST and LEAST PAINFUL Brazillian wax I’ve ever had; Ashely did an AMAZING job and my boyfriend will agree. I’ve gone to upscale medical spas before, and my experience here exceeded all of my (very high) expectations. Ashely was especially engaging and I was very comfortable, not something I necessarily expect when I have someone yanking hair from my lady bits and arse crack. What made this brazillian experience better than other 5 star services I’ve had? The hard wax strips were slightly smaller and the application placement/​technique kept any pain from being overwhelming at any given time. One strip might hurt but the next was in a less sensitive spot. Not sure if a brazillian is for you? They start from the outside and move in, meaning if you’re a first timer worried about ending up with a botched beaver, never fear! It would still be aesthetically pleasing if you jumped ship halfway through. Usually after a wax I feel like running cool water over my crotch, but after I had minimal redness and virtually no irritation or heat at the site. Booking last minute was a breeze, front desk staff was exceptionally nice, and I’ll definitely be back! Extra perk? You get HALF OFF a service as a first time customer!

I started coming here when I lived in southern Lakewood 4 years ago, I love them. They do an amazing job with my hair (I once went to another place and the botched it, BAD! Thankfully, Toby fixed it!). Toby is incredible and is amazing with kids, my daughter absolutely adores her and is devastated that we moved 40 miles away. I’ve honestly been contemplating making the trip back down there just so my kid will get a hair cut (she’s been stalling). If you need a good cut/​color/​massage/​manicure I highly recommend this place!

I’ve been here four times now and every time has been a good experience. Short wait time, easy scheduling, knowledgeable & professional staff with a sense of humor who don’t make you feel insecure or self conscious at all. It would be 5 star but, I don’t think it’d be fair for anyone to expect perfection since hair grows at different lengths so you may leave with some fine or short hairs.

But, I was disappointed to see my hair growing back so fast! I’ve always use wax (never shaved) so my hair really are thin and I even have spot without hair so I was surprised to need to wax again after less than 10 days! Something went wrong for sure…

I would recommend waxing the city to everyone if I could! The prices are fair, and the no-​tip policy takes out any guesswork you may encounter other places. All the staff is friendly, the staff that does the waxing is knowledgeable about proper technique and skin care. I’ve never waited more than five minutes for a scheduled appointment. The website based online booking is easy and in the slower months I’ve been able to even just call a half hour ahead of time and go on over!

Michelle is no longer with the company. Boo! Because of this, I have discovered Talia. Yayaya! She is incredible and made me feel instantly at ease. She did a great job whipping my unruly eyebrows into shape. Already booked again!

I was using the downtown location, but this location is actually a little bit closer so now I use them.
Jennifer rocks! Yes waxes are normally ‘painful’ but their technique and millions of hours of training makes them experts at getting it done right!
Also the ‘no tipping’ policy is great too; one price (depending on tier I, II or III — level of experience)
