Trio’s Bar

Wonderful place. Chris the Wednesday bartender is super cool. The deinks are cheap and the bathrooms are clean, spacious and nice.

The epitome of a dive bar, masterfully executed. Cheap drinks, chill crowd, awesome vibe, and not a single barbed wire or tribal tattoo. This place rules.

Trio’s should not be overlooked in the Madison pub scene. Christina can be found behind the bar on Monday and Saturday nights and knows how to keep great cocktails and cheap beers flowing.
For now Trio’s is an outstanding definition dive bar, with standard bar distractions such as pool, darts, and bowling if merely relaxing at the sizeable bar doesn’t do it for you. However, renovations are planned and a kitchen is on the way. Looking forward to it.

Trio’s is one of the best bars to drink at during a Madison Crawl. It reminds me of my old Auntie Shirley’s basement (RIP). We had a delightful conversation this weekend with other bar patrons. Many topics were discussed. One of interest was using the restroom. This included the AC Slater technique. That is when you sit backwards on a toilet seat.

The beer is cheap and you have some elbow room. I hate drinking and having to worry about people bumping into me.

Entered Trio’s somewhat skeptical as I waited on food from Thai Kitchen down the street, and left a fan. I give Trio’s a ⁴⁄₅ not on the same scale as a place like Velvet Tango Room (⁵⁄₅), but on its own dive-​bar metric. Went during happy hour with a group of 6, and our tab came out to less than $ 15… though, the utterly inebriated bar tender might have miscalculated. I forget her name, but she was quite friendly despite being as sloshed as a Brown’s fan in November and we felt welcome immediately. The gin and tonic was perhaps the worst I’ve ever had, but that only added to Trio’s dive-​bar charm. (Get beers on draft)
Unilocal often mis-​labels establishments as «dive bars», but Trio’s definitely earns it. I am coming back.

Now, we all know that I’m a fan of the dive bar. However, I will disagree with Stefanie C that this is the diveyest bar in Lakewood. Have you BEEN to the Corner Pub? It’s a decent sized bar with pool tables, darts, etc. Nothing fancy. I was not a fan of the jukebox either. However, the service was awesome. Shannan is the best! Love that girl. AND, 6 dollar pitchers? Sign me up!

I don’t remember much about this place — even though I was just here last night. I drank too much. Always a good sign, right?
