I really enjoy going to the route 70 flea market. The layout of the flea market has been re-arranged recently. The tables were painted and re ordered in a more organized manor. I always find good items while shopping here. I mainly look for older glassware and vintage collectables. Some regular vendors have items priced as low as 50 cents. If you plan on visiting on a friday make sure you get there early. Many people start shopping early as 6:30am.

Updating my previous review, since I feel I may have judged this place unfairly on my prior visit. I went back to the Rt 70 Flea Market this past weekend, since I was up at the crack of dawn, couldn’t sleep, and figured«why the hell not?». Maybe I came on a really good day, or maybe the last time I was here was a really awful one, but there were actual locals selling their merchandise this time around. True flea market ‘junk pile’ finds, and obvious garage clean-outs abound. Pretty much the exact type of stuff you’re SUPPOSED to find at these things. And yet… there was still the tons of tables of knock-off merchandise, random toiletries, expired candies, etc. On a beautiful Saturday, there was a good handfull of tables that were empty as well. It’s still not the best flea market in the area, but at least it’s good to know that you can still find traditional«flea market junk» for sale here, and it hasn’t totally degraded into a place where you come to buy counterfeit adidas and baseball caps. Not yet, at least.

I would really have rated this 2 stars, but I gave it an extra star for the entertainment value. I like to play a game called counting teeth. If you get to 10 for the entire time… you win! Haven’t won yet and from the looks of it, I wont be any time soon. Wit that said, the quality of merchandise here isn’t all that good, but like any other flea market, you could find something on any given day. You just have to be willing to tolerate the usual flea market characters, such as the table with the guy selling 50’s tapes and playing them loudly. The guy at a nearby table singing to the music loudly. The vendors that yell out what a great deal the shit they’re selling is for a dollar. They have a couple of food trucks scattered around the grounds. I haven’t tried them yet, but I haven’t had a craving for the hershey squirts recently so that could be why. A trip thru places like these reminds us that not everyone in Jersey was transplanted from NY. There are some original Jersey folks that have been out here their whole live and still have car parts in their front yards.
