Service was slow and we were the only ones in the restaurant. Our food had obviously sat for a while before it was served. Not impressed.

Great food, great service, newly remodeled atmosphere breathing some life into the Lakewood area. Full service bar, sports on in the bar area, but they also have a nice quite dining side. Plus the golf course is great too. Glad this is open to the public now. Highly recommend trying this place out, it’s an awesome hidden gem.

We went for lunch on a Friday. We arrived as a group of women left. Some orders came from the club house so it took a reminder to get our water. Then a larger group sat down. We had ordered some portabella fingers(panko crusted, deep fried). We got those fairly quickly; quite tasty and large — would not do a ½ order as requested;($ 9) for full order. I ordered the petite turkey cobb salad and my husband ordered the fish and chips. It took about 30 minutes to get that and the larger group got their food first. Husband said later he wouldn’t get fish again, it was greasier than he likes it. My salad was a surprise — I didn’t notice bacon on menu but it was in salad. The bigger surprise was the turkey — small squares of processed turkey — you know, the kind that doesn’t really taste like turkey. I asked the waitress what kind of turkey it was and she said she thought it was turkey breast. Well, hard to believe, unless they took breast meat, compressed it, added flavors and then turned it into little squeaky squares. Margarita on the rocks was tasty and priced fine. Disappointed in the lunch. Lunch used to be better!

Not just for members, the fiancé and I went to Oakhouse for dinner. Try something new, we thought! Let’s be spontaneous! .And I’m glad we did. The burgers were absolutely delicious, big tasty buns — I had chicken with swiss and he had a big bacon burger. The service was friendly and accommodating. I like the TV’s and the nice but relaxed bar atmosphere. Only thing. the waitress recommended their fries over the homemade chips, and boy was she wrong! I LOVE fries. at times they are my veggie for the day. and they were nothing to write home about. Skinny, plain shoestring fries(my least favorite kind). However, future hubby got the homemade chips and they were seasoned and scrumptious. Good thing he likes to share. :)(Or pretend.) If prices were a tad cheaper, I think we could come here often. As for now, it will be a once in a while, albeit enjoyable, occasion at Oakhouse.

We had lunch for the first time since they changed to a public restaurant. Our server, Mary, was very nice and suggested the Parmesan Chicken pizza. We ordered that and the French Dip. Both were excellent. We’ll be back!

After reading the reviews, I thought I’d give Oakhouse Restaurant a try. It is off the beaten track. I walked in and had a whole flashback episode. My parents use to take me here to eat when I was a kid and they belonged the Oakbrook Golf Club. At 12:30pm, the place was empty, so I decided to eat at a booth in the bar. It was just me and some very loud golfers bragging about their birdies on the golf course today. Anyway, the have a decent lunch menu. I had a salad with great bleu cheese dressing and a French Dip. It was really good. There were some other items on the menu, but I went with a staple. The service is outstanding. It was like the servers were in my head, because when I thought of something, they were there. Also, the staff is very friendly. I’m definitely going back. Lakewood needs this place.

Go there for the GOLF, not the FOOD. If it was billed as a public golf course’s 19th hole, a watering hole/snack bar, it would have received a different type of review. It was a nice watering hole with a very attractive bar and an apparent solid lunch menu. It definitely was not a «fine dining» country club restaurant. Dinner entrées were over priced for the quality and quantity served. I’ve lived next to the Club’s #8 Tee Box for over twenty years. This was my first dining experience at the Oakbrook CC/GC restaurant. It will likely be my last for dinner. Read more if you want to know why I’ve given this place such a negative review. My wife and I were invited to dinner by our neighbor(L — - and D — ). We heard the place was under new management and I’ve stopped by while walking the dog and seen the renovations. We decided to give it a try. L — - mentioned there were good reviews on Unilocal.D — ‘s business partner said the steaks were good. First clue that the previous Unilocalers may have inflated their rating was the lack of cars in the parking lot. I counted four when we arrived. I’m still having positive thoughts about the place. After all, it was a neighborhood place and people could have walked. Upon entry, we discovered our dining partners and us were the only patrons there. Waitress was pleasant. She started our dining experience by taking our drinks order. I asked for a glass of the house RED. She asked me if I would like the Chardonnay or Merlot. Without missing a beat, I said, «Given those choices, I would like the Merlot.» She realized what she said and then said, «I meant Cabernet or Merlot.» I really wanted a nice glass of beer… but, I had sneaked a look at what was on tap and decided to go generic… can’t mess up a glass of house red. I’m not a Miller/Bud/Coors Lite fan and didn’t want«vintage» bottled beer. We decided to split a bottle of Fourteen Hand Cabernet. Anything above TJ’s 2buck Chuck will be good… and it was. Now to the food review: Still with me? We ordered two appetizers. Had the«Wings» with the«house made» Jack Daniel sauce. Not horrible, but not great. We also had the calamari. Not horrible, but not great. We must have order the ½ sized portions. Portion was small. How small? It was five or six drumettes(no wings) and two squids(about 6 – 8 pieces) small. Glad L — - didn’t want any and my wife was not a big fan of «wings». For the four of us, it would have been less than tapas size. On to the main course. D— and I ordered the ribeye steak. I had mine«Classic Charbroil» and D — ordered the«Blackened». Our steak came with steamed broccoli and mashed potato. Soup, salad, and dinner rolls were extra. We both ordered the steaks medium rare. Glad it was not over cooked for they were thin. For $ 24 plus $ 2.99 extra for a green salad, it was not a very good value. The quality of the meat was on par with Sizzler type places. For a few dollars more we would have gotten a superb steak at Stanley and Seafort with all the fresh baked bread you want. L— had the Mac and Cheese. She added shrimp to the meal. Wife ordered the Shrimp Linguine. She said it was«not bad». We shared a cream bule’. It was OK. So…bottom line… nice golf course, not so nice CC restaurant. Mr. Moore did a great job meeting the golfer’s needs, not so for us foodies. I received no considerations for this review. I dined and reviewed openly. I paid for all of my meals… however, in this case D— treated us. Thanks D — !!!

The Oakhouse at Oakbrook Golf and Country Club … My wife and I went tonight … nice atmosphere looking out at the 18th green … We had the Blackened Rib Eye Steak with the Bourbon Sauce … One of the best Steaks I have ever had … Awesome!!! The mash potatoes where a little bland … but the Asparagas was very good! We also had the Cheescake for dessert, Nummy. The menu is surprisingly large and the bar looked very nice! Try it out … I think you will like it! OH, she said the first Friday of every month is Prime Rib night. we may have to try that next!

Very friendly staff. Its a nice little country club resturant with cheaper prices than any other country club. Good food and good size bar too.

My wife and I live near Lakewood’s Oakbrook Golf Course and Country Club, but we are not members. We were pleased to learn that the associated Oakhouse restaurant and bar is no longer members only, and was opened to the public in March. We made our first visit in April, have been back several times since, and it is currently our restaurant of choice. The dining room is large, but so far, not crowded at all. The patrons are mostly middle-aged or older, but we’ve seen one happy young family who I’m sure used their kid’s menu. Overall, the menu offerings were contemporary and varied, including burgers, sandwiches and pizza(all available for takeout and at lunch), with the addition of numerous steakhouse, seafood and pasta entrée offerings on the dinner menu. They even feature gluten free offerings. The food was fresh and consistently very well prepared to taste, and each dinner course was brought timely. I appreciated the attention to detail on the dinner items, though I have to admit that the generosity of the bartender’s pourings make it hard to provide all the specifics. The service was prompt and attentive without being fawning or intrusive. Service staff at all levels have been friendly, and our servers have readily described menu choices and daily specials in detail without being at all snooty, even with the black and white uniforms. The breakfast items are really tasty, too. As a real man, I ordered the quiche of the day(spinach and Italian sausage) last Sunday, and if the fritattas and omelets are equally tasty, the Oakhouse will see us many Sunday mornings. Oh, and my bloody Mary packed a kick, though I’m sure they could water it down(IF you asked). I was in Oregon at my mother’s on Mothers Day, but my wife and her mom are still raving about the Oakhouse buffet that day. She’s glad they got reservations, and that the dining room was expandable to include the adjoining meeting rooms and reception hall, because word has apparently spread that the Oakhouse is the new go-to place for Lakewood residents who want a well-prepared, varied, modern menu at surprisingly affordable prices! Oh, by the way, if you want to avoid getting lost in the maze of winding Oakbrook neighborhood streets, use the Steilacoom Blvd– Phillips Rd-Onyx/Zircon route. Hours M-Th 11am-8:30pm, Fri & Sat 11 – 9:30, Sun 9am-8:30pm.
