Great food and service! The chocolate chip pancakes were awesome, and the waitress was very friendly. Spacious, with plenty of booths, and can accommodate larger groups. Good for families with kids, too!

One of the best diners in the area hands down. Im not writing a review my only advice is to get in the car and come here. Service and food are quality. Never had a bad meal.

Stopped in for lunch and discovered the best veggie egg white omelette ever. I could not have made it better myself! Yum. Will definitely be back again. Omelette was larger than many I have eaten in other diners and filled with veggies.

A typical American family restaurant, instead of good old red white and silver theme, it is more modern brown wooden theme. I was here for breakfast and I can say nothing bad about it. Maybe the waitress is a bit slow responsive? But in a family restaurant who needs a helicopter waiter/tress, right? I love their bacon btw.

Really nice quaint diner experience. Their food is really good as far as diners go. This is a family owned joint and the owner John is a delightful guy. Always friendly and even let me pay next time I was there when I left my wallet at the office. I wish the location was better because this place really is a hidden gem.

Hello Unilocal world, I have been here before and it was good. I came back today and was very disappointed. I ordered an egg white omelet expecting it to be cooked perfectly because it is so easy to make. It comes back and it is raw in the middle. Not a big deal at all. Everyone makes mistakes. I sent it back and they did something that really got under my skin. They microwaved the whole plate and everything was hot but still raw in the middle. That deserves 0 stars but thankfully we had an awesome server named Ellen, so I give you 2 stars. You microwave leftovers only, if I wanted microwaved food I would buy a lean cuisine. The guy In front of me also had a problem with his food. Poor establishment. Good luck

The wife and I had a great breakfast here. Good food, service and price was great for what you got. We both loved that they were playing some great old music like Sinatra and Dean Martin. I’d definitely recommend coming here if anyone asked me.

If you like NJ diner food, you will like Cross Mill Diner. As for all diners, breakfast is the best meal, but I’ve also enjoyed dinner there as well. Great for the senior crowd– my mother and Aunt loved it.

Stopped by for dinner one night. and ordered the cali burger. it was over cooked for my taste(ordered medium rare… came out medium well). Also not much flavor to it. Fries were ok, but had to be ordered separately(didn’t come with the burger).

Very quaint diner located right on Rt 9 South in Lakewood. Friendly owner that greets his customers and pleasant waitresses. We were here for breakfast, and I don’t really do more than that or a burger when in a diner. Breakfast was pretty typical diner fare and my son who of course ordered a burger for breakfast liked his. I will say this, I was expecting it to be little more expensive than it was after reading some of the reviews. Most of the places in my area have jacked up their prices. For example, my eggs benedict was $ 8.99 It comes with 3 eggs not 2 as almost every other place serves. I believe they do the same with a few other dishes such as the corned beef hash. All in all, worth a stop if you are in the area. Especially considering what your other choices are, ie… «Jerusalem Glatt» !!

The Buffalo chicken salad was very fresh and perfect if you are on the lo-carb plan. The chicken was not breaded like you will find so many times. Plenty of jalapeño peppers.

We’ve actually been coming here for a while now so I don’t know why I’m just now getting around to posting a review. Small, clean, diner with a solid menu and good service. By no means have we sampled everything on the menu, which sticks more or less to the items you want from a diner: all-day breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, and blue plate specials(no 20 page epistle devoted to things they cannot make and you’d be insane to even think of ordering), but everything we have sampled has been generously portioned and well executed. Strangely enough, although they are the probably the best in the area(definitely, in my opinion), they are rarely very busy and tend to attract an older clientele. Not sure if this is due to the odd hours we tend to come or the limited hours they are open, but, not being a proponent of exciting, action-packed, dining, I love enjoying a meal here in a quiet dining room and nary a feral, shrieking sprog caroming off my knees.

Hidden gem. Super tasty homemade food! As good as mom’s and grandma’s cooking! I had the turkey and stuffing and it was good. Served everyday :) The service was really great too. Very friendly staff. If you can’t decide what to order they will surely sway you into something tasty!

Cross Mill redeemed themselves today. I knew they would, because I aimed low: Pork Roll, Egg, and Cheese. Having lived here most of my life, to say I’ve eaten a thousand of these sandwiches is probably a gross underestimation. Yes, I will probably soon die, but trust me, you don’t know the half of it; no coroner is going to point the finger at this sandwich as my future cause of death. I suspect they’ll be taking a closer look at a bullet hole or my liver. I estimate that this version of our beloved New Jersey National Dish(we are oh so sophisticated…) was the third best I have enjoyed in my long history of eating breakfast. That’s not much of an accolade; there’s a big bottle neck in third place, which is essentially occupied by every one I have ever had, save for the very worst, and the two best. The two best were made by places that are no longer in business, and the bottom is occupied by such distinguished figures such as the wretched Wawa Sizzli, for example, and the one’s I prepare for myself, which never taste quite right, and that makes no sense since I am a fairly accomplished cook and there isn’t a damned thing to them. I chalk it up to the fact that I don’t have a flat top in my kitchen — no idea what else it could be. So back to this, what they prepare consists of two fried eggs, six pieces of slightly crispy but not over done pork roll, served on a buttered hard roll with salt and pepper. As with my previous experience here, the eggs were done perfectly. The rest is pretty straightforward. Like I said, there isn’t much to making one. But it was delicious, and I am pleased, So in honor of that, I award you another star, Cross Mill. Do try to hold on to it, because you’re a diner, by nature an unfocused entity, and therefore you will not be getting a fifth one.

From onion rings and a burger to the steak special topped with Gorgonzola cheese you can’t beat this(my two favorites). Every soup is home made and just as good as what Mom makes. Bring a bottle of wine, sit back, relax, and enjoy. A small hidden jewel that will only get better.
