Food was ok, we had the Chicago beef and it’s just ok. The service was the terrible part. It seems family owned and the guy that seemed to be in charge at the time was flat out RUDE. I was looking for napkins and checking out the décor on the walls while waiting for the food and he yells from the side kitchen door at me wanting to know what the hell I was looking at. Are you kidding me he acted like I was intruding in his personal living room. Which the back corner table in the dining area looked like it was someone’s personal space. The place could use some updating but more than that he could use an attitude adjustment. We will never be back.

The best place — if you aren’t in Chicago! The fries have a crisp that reminds you of home, the beef is wet and the tamales are delicious little pillows of corn. When you walk in till hear The Bulls theme, a Cubs game, see Chicago oddities and sites that might remind you of the Sears Tower, Ditka, Navy Pier. The staff is like no other and once they know you, they won’t forget you!

As Tina Turner would say, «simply the best, better than all the rest!» If you want an authentic, juicy, flavorful chicago dog you have come to the right place. I have yet to find a hot dog joint that can top this one. The italian beef is phenomenal as well; juicy and delicious!

The pastrami. Do it. The original Chicago Dog. Do it. The atmosphere and attitude couldn’t be more authentic!

Family is actually from Chicago, which would explain why they taste so amazingly authentic! If you want a trip to Chicago but can’t quite get away… Hit up the best Chicago dogs right here in Denver

This place is hands down some of the best Chicago food outside of Chicago period. The holy mecca the chicago dog is perfection. If you closed your eyes and took a bite, you’d be right back in the city. They even have a sign that says something negative about requesting ketchup on your dog — classic! The Italian beef is perfection as well. Perfectly thin shaved beef drizzled in heavenly au jus nestled between the perfect hoagie and dunked(if you like it that way, of course) into more au jus before being wrapped up like the best present ever. Ah, just thinking about it makes me want to run down there right now. Everything else is on par, Jays potato chips, crispy fries, salerno cookies. If you have a Chicago craving itch that needs to be scratched — this is your place to go! Don’t even hesitate — stop reading this, get in your car, and make your dreams come true! My only drawback to this place is the price. It’s much higher than your typical hotdog joint in Chicago, however it’s 100% authentic so it will be worth it. Besides, satisfying a craving is priceless ;) I had an instance of concern with the customer service I received on one visit. The business reached out to me about it and it was a very professional, kind, and authentic response from them. They handled the matter so well that they’ve left an even better impression on me as a result. Bottom line: If you want an authentic Chicago dog or italian beef — definitely check it out, it won’t disappoint you but will cost you a couple more bucks.

Literally the best Chicago style hot dogs in the Denver metro area. I’ve grown up in denver, had hot dogs all over the city and these are the best! The Italian beef is fantastic too. As far as the comments about the attitude of the employees, they’re not mean, insensitive or rude. It’s like talking to someone from NYC, you think they’re have an attitude because they’re straight to business, direct and forward, but its a culture thing. The personality of the staff greatly adds to the experience of coming here.

Got the«hotdog, half Italian beef, handful of fries and drink» special. Beef was ok, fries were good, had a special seasoning? Hotdog was spot on, celery salt, neon relish poppyseed bun and all. Felt a little less homesick today :)

Love it! I’m not from Chicago but I used to live there and I love a good Chicago dog! Not a fancy place but perfect– order at the counter and while your waiting look at all the Chicago«stuff» they have– fun facts everywhere– my dog way just how I wanted it — I also added some German potato salad– they have a variety of menu items like a Chicago traditional beef sandwich-I have been driving by for years glad I finally made the stop!

Wow. This place is a dump. Had the gyro which was quite possibly the worst thing I have ever tried to consume. Buried in tiziki sauce(mayo). My friends hot dog was crucified. Place is sad.

I’m a former Chicago resident but have lived in a tiny mountain town here in CO for about 15 years. Haven’t had an Italian beef in about a decade believe it or not. What a wonderful sandwhich! The tenderness & flavor of the beef is spot on. Incredibly nice, friendly folks. I’ll be back. Oh, the onion rings are good too.

We were so excited to find this place(and it’s not too far from Red Rocks!) and it was a fun experience. I’m a very homesick Chicago(suburbs) girl so being here warmed my heart. I loved that they not only had great food to eat in, but they also have Chicago items to take home– I bought a bunch of Turano sandwich rolls for myself and a friend because we like to try to make our own beef sandwiches, a box of Salerno butter cookies– you know, the kind you put on your finger and eat around it, and some Fannie May caramels! I was thrilled to finally find a place that has pizza puffs in the state of Colorado(but I do recommend you only order one– I ordered two, which I have never done in my whole life, because I was so excited to find them, but really one is plenty!) ;) The owners were really nice to us and I felt bad that they have had so many negative reviews. The restaurant is full of Chicago memorabilia of things I love like the Bozo Show, some of the news and weather people’s pictures, Garrett’s popcorn tins, Blues Brothers, Marshall Fields(and Frango mints) stuff, newspapers, etc. It was fun to look at everything. They also had cute things all around like lists about the Chicago winters. We both really enjoyed the fries and my husband loved his sandwich. We would come here a lot if we lived closer, but we will definitely make the drive from the Springs to visit again. I appreciate the extras they offer and their food is truly great and tastes like it should!

Straight out of Chicago. They have the best most authentic Italian beef sandwiches and Chicago dogs in Colorado! We go there every time we are down in Denver.

I moved to Colorado and have been on the search for years for the best Italian Beef locally. To my surprise, I have been able to find at least 5 different Chicago style restaurants prior — but none the match the value, service, and most importantly taste! Even before recently being inducted into the Vienna hall of fame for 2015, I hands-down recommend this place as THE stop for Chicago Style food in Colorado. Moving to Boulder tomorrow and made sure to stop in. Furthermore, I’ll definitely be coming all the way down more than I should.

Either you get it or you don’t. Welcome to Chicago, where you can coast on ambiance and flavor. *Floor to ceiling* memorabilia welcome you to a kitschy clean little joint where the focus is on the dogs. Some people are uptight about the abrupt manner of the«lady behind the counter». I say get over it and enjoy yourself. You came for the beef, whether a classic Vienna beef Chicago dog with all the fixings or the gigantic, jus-dripping Italian beef sandwich. On my visit, I had both and shared fries with friends. Good lord. I preferred the flavor and ease of the Chicago style dog over the beef, but they were both good. The fries were super. Highly recommended.

I so wanted this to be good, it wasn’t. I could look past the :35 wait because I went mid day and a group got in before me. What I can’t look past is a combo that was«dipped» and still the beef was dry. You really have to not care to pull that off. The hot dog was cold, bun damp, and no celery salt. Who ever heard of a Chicago dog served without fries? Lastly, this cheap Southside Pollack has never had to paid $ 16 for a combo and hotdog. Mayor Daley(the Dad) would have had the Alderman close this place down if it were Chicago.

The only saving grace was the Da Big Grabowski(Polish dog, mustard, sport peppers, sauerkraut). It was much bigger than the other dogs, and it had nice flavor, despite being completely overcooked. We also split a hot Italian-beef sandwich which was«meh.» The meat was watery and unseasoned, so it’s not surprising it had zero flavor. The service: Initially, we thought the lady behind the counter was hilarious. She jabs people for mispronouncing the names of items, and also for asking for«unacceptable» items(e.g., ketchup, forks). After a while, though, her antics, and those of her husband(presumably), became tiresome. When we asked for a drink refill and a couple forks so we could split the hot Italian-beef sandwich, we were asked by the woman’s husband, in a smartass tone, why we needed a fork WITH the drink refill. After much reluctance, he handed over the forks. As for the drink refill, we told him we wanted Diet Coke, and he said he was just going to give us «whatever [he felt] like» because he «[couldn’t] read.» Hey, just give us the forks and the refill. It’s hilarious to read the comments here on Unilocal from the woman who works there. She gives the same canned response to people’s grievances — something to the effect of: you should have told us these complaints on-the-spot, when you were at our restaurant, so we would have had an opportunity to correct them. Considering how we were treated when we simply asked for a refill and some forks, how do you think the exchange would have gone if we pointed out that we didn’t like something? I’m sure it would have been laced with profanity. How do these people stay in business?

This place has tons of character. Not sure how«accurate» everything tastes, but on its own its a great place to eat lots of tasty food. Get the Italian beef with the works & thank me later. Good hot dogs, too. And if you go after New Years, you’ll get black eyed peas for good luck. The service is curt. I don’t know if it’s part of the Big City feel or if they just know their food is good, but I’m fine with it either way. You can take your kids there, but CB is across the street so be prepared to be pestered about going there.

Growing up around Chicago and loving the culinary scene there, I was excited to find this Chicago style establishment. I’ve been here twice for lunch. The décor itself is very Chicago-esque. There’s a lot of Chicago sports memorabilia all around this joint. My main impression was they served overpriced, mediocre Chicago style food. I had the Polish and gyros here the two times I visited. For a gyro, I was expecting it to be meat cut off the rotating spit. It was just frozen rectangle pieces of disappointment in an okay pita flooded with tzatziki sauce maybe to hide the underwhelming meat. The Polish wasn’t much better. I’ve had a lot of Maxwell Street Polish sausages in Chicago. This one was overcooked and tough instead of a little charred and bursting with flavor. The wait times seem to be high as well since there’s a short supply of cooks staffed.
