There are 6 dogs loose allowed to roam. Told that one dog may byte children. Long drive from Shaver lake for dinner. Outdoor deck dinning is a nice idea but there water ponds without railing in the deck area easy to fall in. Dogs came running when our diner was served.

We booked a last minute camping trip in our trailer and this is the only place we could get in. We got there at 1 and all of the employees had been drinking. They couldn’t find our reservations and found a spot for us. The electrical, water and sewer lines were above and below ground. Our 1st night we only had a trickle of water because a water line broke. We have 3 small kids and they told them not to pet one of their dogs, which was running loose, because he had bit a child on the face. When I attempted to drain my black tank, the sewer squirted back out and then I noticed the sewer line ran up hill. There was a hole in the sewer line and sewer ran out into our neighbor’s camp site. We didn’t stay in the cabins, but they looked run down. The bathrooms were clean except for the trash can overflowing. We ate lunch at the restaurant and the table was dirty. The food was ok but they messed up our order. They corrected our order and gave us free ice cream. The restaurant and bar were dirty and the dogs came in and out. The trail to the lake was steep and unkept. We left a day early and I thought after all that happen they would give us a discount. We paid full price. When I checked out they couldn’t find our reservation because our site was marked«out of order.» This could be a really nice park if they put the work into it. The staff were really friendly, but other than that we will NEVER stay here again.

WHAT’S WRONGWITHTHESEPEOPLETHATWRITEHORRIBLEREVIEWS Did these people go to the same place at Huntington Lake that I went! No it’s not the Hilton; it’s the back country! Go to Tahoe if you want the Hilton and 1000’s of people !! Best views in the whole area are at Cedar Crest! Excellent cabins(all with lake views make you think you have gone back in time! excellent lake access! Terraced decks with creek going right down the middle for your enjoyment right next to café patio! Best food and deals on drinks in the whole area with a beautiful view of China Peak from the Restaurant & Bar! Great RV sites(some with lake views!) Camp sites, hot showers and flush toilets for the campground! Spread out on lots of land! Very nice people and freedom is the key, plus safe for your kids PERIOD! When I left they were working and remodeling their marina! There is «NO» old couch by the CAMPFIRETHEREARELOGSWITHCARPET! There was even a pop corn machine by the large TV showing kids movies! This is a good old fashion safe summer camp with only a few rules; the main being have fun! Great for privacy or big groups! There is even a store with ice cream for kids of all ages! Great BAR with soft live music and very good prices! I rented a pontoon boat and reeled in many trout !! Hands down you feel like you went back in time to a wonderful place with very nice people! I stayed for a month in my RV as it was so wonderful! I am planning on going back for the whole season this year as they have great rates! If you want to see the mountain range the way it use to be come to Cedar Crest Resort by far the best place to stay in the whole area! Shame on these people with there poor reviews of a truly magical place!

First of all, please do not be fooled by the website, what you see is not what you get… Second of all we have to quote a previous review… «WILDDOGS… FILTHYBATHROOMS… NOUPDATINGINBATHROOMS… LOWWATERFLOW… STAFFTHATDRINKS…» The staff was friendly and had good manners for the interactions that we had with them. In addition they were always easy to find, either on the porch in front of the store or at the restaurant patio, we are assuming tipping a few back. I hadn’t been there in some time and remember the restaurant and the store to be like the pictures on the website, now I would not eat there if my life depended on it. It appears very dirty and not too nice inside at all. We stayed in the RV section and making reservations were no problem and they seemed eager to help. Upon arrival, Woody was very helpful in helping us park, we had a rather large RV and they were very accommodating to place us in a site that was readily accessible. Connecting the water to our RV, the pressure on my gauge was 20 pounds and it fluctuated down to 10, hardly enough for a trickle out of the kitchen sink, we filled our water tank, 15 minutes for 40 Gallons and used the RV water pump. I can’t even imagine what the showers were like with that low of pressure. I connected my power cord to the electrical outlet, and all was well until you turned on anything such as the microwave or the coffee maker, the lights dimmed, but I was lucky it never went off. I was a little skeptical of the reliability as they had used plastic sprinkler pipe as the conduit for the wire and the post the outlet was mounted on was not sturdy at all and falling over. My next adventure was emptying the waste tanks, I had visions of Chevy Chases movie RV Vacation, but I was lucky. They drained fairly well, for a minute, then you had to stop and wait for the drain to clear before you could dump more, a tedious process at best, trying to avoid a disaster or some sort of hazardous waste spill. We were situated near the main road and it is quite dusty, I do however realize that it was a dry year and it is mountain camping. The access to the lake is on a steep unmaintained trail which made it rather hard to actually get to the water, your best bet drive to a day beach. We would like to make some serious recommendations as this could be an awesome place to come, and enjoy the outdoors whether camping, RVing or staying the cabins. 1. Clean the place up, get rid of all the junk that is sitting around the buildings. 2. Restore the restaurant to what it used to be, the food was good and the atmosphere was incredible, I am not sure if we saw anybody eating there other than the staff. 3. I can not comment on the cabins, but others had reported less than adequate cleanliness and upkeep. They paint on them was not peeling and they appeared adequate from the outside, but there were signs that repairs were needed. 4. Fix up the RV park by correcting the electrical, water and sewer systems, for the money charged, the facilities were barely adequate. 5. Cut down on roaming dogs, Bernie the Black Lab was very friendly and did not pee on your furniture like some of the others. 6. The owner needs to be on site to see what is going on, I understand his health is not good and he is unable to see the day to day operation of the resort. He needs to hire an experienced manager to keep the park to a higher standard.

Cedar Crest is the most mature camp in the universe. There are no rules, you can do whatever you want. That requires adults to interact with one another to solve any disagreements that comes up during communal recreational living arrangements. Everything everyone else wrote about the place is correct. It is not well kept. But I’ll return because it has the most critical element to any American– freedom.

We stayed in one of the cabins, and it was one of the most rundown places we have stayed in years. The toilet leaked, there was no water coming out of the shower, and the place was minimally cleaned. Additionally, the floor was sloped and we kept rolling towards the wall during the night(like a bad campsite). After the second day, we finally learned that if we flushed the toilet, we would not have water for the shower for some time afterward. I would definitely not recommend this place.

For years we’ve camped at Rancheria Campground, but we tried Cedar Crest this time for the hot showers and electricity. We were disappointed that Cedar Crest doesn’t have a nice beach on the lake like Rancheria does, and the closest lake access is pretty steep. The electricity worked great, but the hot showers ran out of hot water 1⁄3 of the time. My husband was very disgusted that the men’s bathroom and showers were so dirty. The ladies’ side was clean, but one morning it smelled like someone smoked a pack of cigarettes in there. I had to hold my breath. There are 5 – 6 dogs who live at Cedar Crest, and they wander around. They aren’t aggressive with human guests, but there were 2 dog fights in the 5 days we were there. I don’t recommend bringing a dog. There is also a maintenance barn with junk outside and a radio playing. This place would be a lot nicer if they cleaned it up and got larger hot water heaters.
