Nice people but not much of a winery. The rows of grapes are just show. They don’t make it there. The bottle is bought was from a winery apparently in Washington.

Shawnee Bluff is a great little winery close to Bagnell Dam in the heart of The Lake of the Ozarks. The owners took an old roadside motel and turned it into a winery with a view overlooking the lake that is one of the most spectacular I’ve ever seen! Their wines get better each year. I like the Riesling and on a hot summer day their sparking moscato is refreshing. They have a decent sized menu featuring wood fired pizzas, appetizers and more. Plus, you’re also welcome to bring your food. A wine tasting is free for 4 tastes. Six tastes cost $ 5 and you get a wine class. Weekends feature local bands that play around the heart shaped pool(it’s kitschy but it works). My one negative is the service. The waitress out on the deck and over look have been pretty clueless. They are not unfriendly, but they don’t work efficiently. It just seems like they need a better system out there. But I can overlook all that for the view!

We came with the intentions of enjoying beautiful views and fabulous pizza. The place is very pretty from the street and we had very high expectations. Upon entering, it’s very small and not living up to the outside at all. The place to taste wine can only accommodate 2 – 3 ppl at a time-so basically one party. The lady was knowledgeable about wines and it was super to try 4 for free! You can also try 6 for $ 5. We liked the wines and bought one bottle for the table and one to take home. Unfortunately, it was a rainy day and there is no cover on the deck so no outside dining and no views. Bummer. Also, no pizza, double bummer. Apparently the brick oven is outside and doesn’t run in rainy weather. Overall, the outside looks lovely. Inside is nothing special. Food was average. The charcuterie choices were average at best. The antipasto salad was pretty good. First time I’ve had pasta noodles placed on top of a salad before. I did like the Greek olives and sun dried tomatoes. While this place is probably wonderful in sunny weather, skip it if it’s raining unless you are only going to taste wine and not dining.

This is the MUST see place at the lake. Great wine, food, entertainment and atmosphere. Live music, deck with views of the lake… so perfect! Be sure to ask for Andrea, the best server EVER!

We have been to the Shawnee Bluff Winery several times. The location perched overlooking the lake and the toll bridge is pretty awesome. On a nice day, you can sit and watch hundreds of boats go by, We’ve tasted a few of their wines and found them lacking in a typical Missouri fashion. I can’t say I was disappointed due to my low expectations. The winery is built in and around an old hotel, which is kind of cool for those of us who have been coming to the Lake for many years and enjoy its history. On the down side, the overall feel is kind of dumpy. We have enjoyed using their bocce courts a few times, but the balls and courts are kind of beat up. It might be a good idea to get a new set of balls each year and maybe groom the courts a bit before you open. The live music has always been a pleasure for us, kind of easy listening country-rock type music, which fits the overall vibe. I can’t remember the name of it, but they have a champagne punch that kind of tastes like bubbly lemonade. We usually get a carafe of that when we visit. So check it out. We’re fans and we’ll be back.

So, THESE folks know how to treat their gluten-free guests! Their GF, Brick Oven Pizza was absolutely delicious! We ordered chicken, onion and pepperchinis on their Spicy Olive Oil«sauce». Wow — just wow! They also have cheese stuffed peppers, which were very good. All with a premium glass of Missouri wine. Now, the service was too slow. I should dock a point for slow service. But they were friendly and accommodating, and finding a place that can actually cook good GF food is amazing. Well worth the wait. WEWILLBEBACK!

My first visit here. We got to sample many wines, and a sample was basically half a glass of wine! The bartender was super friendly and knowledgable. Wine was very good! We sat inside and outside. Very quaint with wonderful lake views. Will be back!

Last stop on our Ozark Winery Tour! The owner of Shawnee Bluff Inn also happens to own the Casa de Loco winery as well, so many of the same wines were found at both locations. Upon entering the building, you just feel a coziness to it along with a nice fireplace. I don’t know why, but while we were there, the smoke from the fire proceeded to come out into the room instead of out through the chimney. Oh well, it made wine tasting interesting with the hazy atmosphere and me smelling like a campfire afterwards. Their vineyards and actual winery are located a couple miles down the road off 54. You get 4 complimentary wine tastings and then it is $ 5 for 5 additional samples after that(many of the wines are $ 5 glasses so we chose this option after our freebies). The labels on the bottles feature bartenders, waitresses, and family friends of the owner. It does seem a little sleazy, but they are currently updating their labels to make their bottles more refined. With names like White Trashendel, I kind of feel sorry for the girl pictured on there. Unfortunately they ran out of the Bipolar that everyone seems to rave about so that was dissapointing. My favorites were the Casa Cooler which was a bubbly moscato and I’m a Sweetie Too which was a nice sweet red wine. Would love to come on a nicer day to see the sunset! Pros: — easily accessible off the main road — beautiful view of the water — staff were super friendly and helpful Cons: — since it is owned by the same owner of Casa de Loco, there are many similar wines Why I gave it a 3… Shawnee Bluff Winery had beautiful views of the water! The wines were ok compared to other stops that we made that day on our mini Ozark Winery Tour. Hopefully we can come back and visit when the weather is nicer to watch another beautiful sunset!

The wine is good. The food is average. For a relaxing time taking in the Lake with a good bottle of wine try Shawnee Bluff.

Second visit with same experience. This place is a cash cow perched up on the lake with plenty of seating, a good vibe and tons of drink/menu options. Unfortunately they cannot manage worth a dime. First visit we got a young surley girl for our wine tasting who didn’t try to hide her contempt. This weekend they had two people running the whole operation so waiting for a drink or food was ridiculous. Their moscato was good but not available by the bottle(wth?). We made sure to note never to return. This place could make a killing with location and amenities if they could figure out service. Then again, maybe they are doing so well they don’t need our business.

A quiet little piece of heaven awaits you as you pull up, park, and go to listen to acoustic band overlooking the breathtaking view of the Lake. Chardonnay was very good, Pinot was fruity and delicate, but the Casa was out of this world. Bartender was very knowledgable about the offerings, and guided us to the casa after we tried the others on our own. beautiful Grapefruit finish, very refreshing. she sold us on staying there next time we are in town, looks like we will be making reservations soon. wide mix of crowd, all ages, bikers to retirees, all having a great time. very relaxing. recommend it as a night for two with a view…

Nice winery with beautiful view of the lake. Wine was tasty and generous with the samplings. My favorite part(besides the wine) was the giant wine bottle water feature near the pool… I want one of those for my pool:-) Very cool.

This place has the worst customer service of anywhere I’ve been in my entire life. My entire experience with Shawnee Bluff was awful. We reserved the deck for a private party for 45TWOMONTHSINADVANCE, only to show up an hour before guests were to arrive to find the staff had no record of our reservation.(And yes, we’d called week of to confirm the reservation.) The waitresses and bartenders are a mess. We brought in all of our own food, calling them in advance to check that they would provide utensils. It was like pulling teeth to get a few forks, so eventually we just gave up on asking them for help. Also, anyone else find it crazy that you can’t buy wine at the bar near the deck? I mean, I thought this was a winery … Eventually, we smoothed things over and the party went fine. Only when I went to pay my credit card I learned Shawnee Bluff ran it twice for the same transaction. I spent a month and a half trying to get them to reverse the charge before my bank was finally able to do it. Each time I would call, and they would promise to call right back, and I never heard from them. Such a disaster. Come here for a drink with a small group if you want(for the view), just don’t order any food, and never, ever plan a private event at this venue. TERRIBLEMANAGEMENT from the top down.

Do not come here for food and wine. 1. Food is all store-bought. Ritz crackers and slimy deli cheeses and meats for their meat and cheese platter. 2. The wine tastes cheaper than $ 14 a bottle, which is pretty bad for a place that calls itself a winery. 3. The service is absolutely terrible. When we were given red wine glasses for a bottle of white wine, I returned them asking for white wine glasses. Hostess scoffed at me and said«it doesn’t make a difference.» 4. Atmosphere is dirty and desperately needs an update. There were HUGE spider webs near our table and old balloons floating on the floor. If you’re looking for a cute winery at the Ozarks, definitely don’t check out Shawnee Bluff.

My grandma was here last year and told us we had to check it out next time we were in town. We went in to sample their wines. You can get 4 samples complementary then it’s $ 5 per sample. Most of the wines we tried, we liked. Favorites were: Bipolar, I’m a Sweetie Too and the Casa Cooler(their most popular. It’s a champaign based wine and is very yummy!) These are their own wines, the actual winery(the Shawnee Bluff winery) is off 54 but this spot is much cuter! All the bottles have really cool unique labels too. They have a great atmosphere here. Very nice patio right on the lake with a small pool. My mom and I sat out on the patio to watch the sun as it started to set. Great mother daughter night!

Great location at the lake. You would be surprised how good their food is here. Some favorites are gouta peppers, brick oven pizza and mozzarella tomato basil skewers. Only a few wines here that I like bit everyone loves their Casa Cooler regardless of their taste in wine. Service is good and the outer deck overlooking the lake offers spectacular views. The only cons are limited parking in their lot and small seating area inside which can sometimes be crowded.

Shawnee Bluff has an amazing view looking over the Lake of the Ozarks. This winery serves the same wines as Casa de Loco. Parking is tight and steep, but they’ve added a gravel lot on the side for additional space. They serve pizzas(in a Saint Louis Cardinals oven unfortunately) but we didn’t have any, even though they smelled good.

Shawnee Bluff is located off Business 54. It sneaks up on you so be sure to pay attention in the location — I believe it is directly across from the Catholic Church.(fitting right? ahah) A couple things to touch on… Shawnee Bluff used to be just an «Inn» with these little cabin things as their sleeping accommodations. Such accommodations are extremely cheap and from the exterior, I wouldn’t sleep well! Over the past two years, they have added a Wine Boutique that serves its sister location’s wine(Casa de Loco) and Pizza. This year they will finish their Wedding Facility and renovation of the cabin things… Before, when it was just a Wine Boutique, the pool was NEVER maintained and absolutely disgusting… I was recently told that the girls who also dressed like prostitutes when executing the wine tastings were the same people who were assigned to maintain the pool. Such girls forgot to put their clothes on — how on Earth could they clean a pool? Regardless, new management has since taken over and have plans to turn this place around. As you can see from the picture I uploaded, the view is unmatched! It features a panoramic view of the toll bridge and main channel. I will say that I hope the pizza recipe remains the same. It is a thin crust pizza that is cheap and yummy.
