The Grist Bar & Table

This place is still serving a limited menu but I liked what I had. The short rib dumplings were fried crispy on the outside and the filling was rich and delicious. Horseradish dipping sauce was a perfect complement. Wings were good, not great but good. Fried chicken entrée was juicy and the crisp coating on the chicken was outstanding. My friend didn’t much like his burger, but as I have never heard him say anything good about any burger he has had, I am starting to believe he just doesn’t like burgers and doesn’t realize it. Other friend really liked her spicy shrimp sandwich.
Good beer selection. I’d like to see more wines, but I don’t know how much they can get away with in Lake Mills.
Our waitress was incredibly friendly, could not ask for better service.

Had the grilled park chop and it was pretty darn good. Brussels sprouts were awesome. Nice atmosphere.

What an amazing change of pace from the place that used to occupy this building! The old place (Carp’s Landing, I believe) was really underwhelming. The Grist is excellent. Great menu with diverse offerings. It’s also beautiful. The new owners clearly have put a LOT of time and energy into it! This is the only place I’ll be eating when in the Lake Mills area!

Great new place! Beautifully remodeled, clean, fresh, full of home town pride. The fried chicken is the best I’ve ever had! Short rib Dumplings I will crave until I return for more.

Amazing food, wonderful staff and kid friendly! Absolutely love the atmosphere and how it has roots to the town. Can’t wait to go back to try the rest of the food on the menu.
