A nice, mellow winery and tasting room. The $ 5 keep-the-glass tasting gives you 5 from ~15 wines; this place is heavy on the whites and light on the reds. Our pick(and the only one we bought a bottle for) was the Blanc de Noirs bubbly. The other whites ranged from fine to forgettable, and the Collaboration red was just strange. They do a very sweet cider; I prefer dry ciders. A fine, relaxed place with a souvenir-glass, discounted-tastings-if-you-bring-back-the-glass gimmick.

Super friendly service. I can’t say enough about how helpful and kind they were. Good wine selection and a yummy cider. We will definitely be repeat customers!

Love going to this cozy and comfortable winery every year! The staff are so welcoming and do not dominate the discussion of the wines. They let YOU discover what you like! Only thing: I miss their offerings of non-alcoholic grape juice. For some of our friends, it made a delicious Christmas gift(or sparkling) for Thanksgiving dinner.

You always like a good poor and at Good Harbor Wineries, you get a happy pour and good conversation, or is that happy conversation and a good pour. Their selection of white wines is delish, and their sparkling wines are lite and not overbearing. Their wine tastings are $ 5.00 and they let you keep the glass too!

The lady helping us out was awesome! Super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable! For $ 5 you get 5 decent samples and a cute little engraved tasting glass. She ended up giving us a couple extra since we didn’t choose their best seller or her favorite! I’m not usually one for dessert wine, but they had a cherry wine that made me feel otherwise… it was soo good! And they gave us each a dark chocolate kiss to go with it! Yummy! The inside was super cute as well, they had a self guided walk through tour of the winery you could do along side the cute tasting room with all kinds of wine and Michigan accessories! We didn’t plan on buying any wine, but left with 2 bottles, it was so good! Super glad we made the spontaneous stop!

Good Harbor gets my stars for the wine. Not wine snobs we just know what we like and they have it… Trillium and Fish Town are our all time favorites. Tasted just to check them and another possibility, staff was nice, not sure about the $ 5 thing or the tiny samples. Got larger samples at North Latitude Distillery serving the hard-stuff, they better be more generous if they are going to compete with all the others… this wine thing up there is getting crowded and competitive.

Wonderful people. Good wines. They have some nice items that other wineries don’t have(candelabras for empty wine bottles). Just a fun place to stop in taste some nice wines and pick up a bottle or case

We stopped here on the way to Château Fontaine because it had reasonably good reviews. But, they charge $ 5 for 5 tastings, by far one of the more expensive tastings. This should have clued us into the why, the wine is lacking so they have to make their money on the tasting. The spot is also a little lacking due to how many lovely tasting rooms there are at Bel Lago, Brengman’s, 2 Lads, Brys, Château Chantal and now Hawthorne. And finally, when you walk in it smells musty. We should have kept driving.

Mom and I stopped into Good Harbor yesterday for a quick taste before they closed. They occupy a nice but fairly simple spot South of Leland on M22. It was sleepy, late on a Monday afternoon, but had around 8 other people by the time we left. The staff was friendly and allowed us to chat them up. We are not wine snobs, and they were definitely OK with that. Their tasting scheme is that you buy a glass for $ 5 and then can try 5 wines. Then you can take the glass home and bring it back and have 4 free tastes. They have a range of wines. Like most in the area, the whites outshine the reds. Of the 5 we tasted, we both agreed that their Tribute Chardonnay was fantastic. The Manitou(Chardonnay/Pino Gris blend) was fairly well-rounded and I preferred it to the Pino Gris. We will be stopping back to try more and will likely bring a case back to Ohio at the end of the week. Good Harbor has been doing this for a while, and the experience shows through with the consistent and good options they offer.

We stopped here on the way to another winery in Leelanau and boy am I glad we did! The staff was very personal and welcoming and the wines were excellent. I could tell they were passionate about their wines and the state of Michigan. They even suggested that we buy the wines at our local grocery store since they’re cheaper! Too bad I don’t live in the area because I would be purchasing Good Harbor’s wines frequently. My favorite wine by far was the Labranet. It was so smooth. In close second was the Sleeping Bare Blanc de Blanc. And their Cherry Wine is a perfect mixture of tart and sweetness. I would definitely come back here again and again! P. S. All of the wines are affordable and they carry a lot of adorable wine accessories.

This is one of my favorite vineyards in MI(if not my very favorite)! We go there every time we’re in the area and have always had a great experience. I always end up buying no less than 6 bottles of the Moonstruck — absolutely delicious sparkling wine. All the wines are really affordable, which is great because I tend to buy so many! The area is beautiful, all the wines are fantastic and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The first time we went, they really took the time to figure out what wines would work best for us. You don’t see that kind of personalized service much anymore, so we were really impressed. They have a cute little shop in the tasting room and we recently picked up some nice wine glasses. The only bad thing is that we don’t live closer! If we did, this would be our local wine shop.

My husband and I stopped by on a recent trip to Northern Michigan(my husband’s first). This was a really nice family winery known for their whites and cherry wine. I am a red wine drinker, and the Collaboration was delicious. We also brought home a bottle of the Tribute. Well located close to the Lake, so it’s a perfect stop for a picnic(which we hope to do next time). Excited to enjoy the bottles at home. Highly recommended.

No trip to Northern Michigan is complete without a stop into Good Harbor Vineyards for me. I was spoiled with great wine after living in Northern California, but this vineyard puts me right back in California wine country: stunning views, without the high prices. I can’t get enough of their red blend, «Collaboration», which is why I buy a case each time. I’m not a big white wine fan, but I love theirs, especially«Fish Town White». When I host parties, I take the«Sleeping Bare» sparking wine and mix it with St. Germaine elderflower liqueur — delicious! The Cherry Wine are my gift of choice at the holidays — a real embodiment of what Michigan is known for. I can’t wait for my next visit!

I am from NYC and for the past 6 years I have been getting my wine from Good Harbor Winery. I first tasted it when I was in college and absolutely fell in love with their Riesling. They have a great variety of fabulous wines, but the Riesling will always be my favorite. It’s sweet and crisp… delicious! I’ve tried to find other wines that are comparable, but I have yet to find any. So I order cases often and have spread the love for this wine to all my friends and family here in NYC. I go to the winery every year for wine tasting with my friends and we always have so much fun! The staff is fun and friendly and the wines are fantastic! I would recommend this winery and their wine to everyone! I look forward to this trip every year so if you are lucky enough to be closer to Leland than I am, go and enjoy great wines from an amazing family.

As a native Michigander, I spend my year looking forward to spending time up north in the summers. We stopped by Good Harbor on our way to Glen Arbor this year and found the wine and the ambiance to be exactly what I think of when I think of up north. The people are warm and friendly, the wine is tasty and made from their local winery. The overall atmosphere in the tasting room was welcoming and pleasant. I can’t wait to go back!

Good Harbor is not only one of the original wineries in what has become a county full of vineyards, but also a place where you can find some of Leelanau’s(and maybe Northern Michigan’s) best wine. Mixing in a number of new, innovative vino’s(one of my favorites is Collaboration) to a portfolio of time tested and annual bestsellers(Fishtown White, Good Harbor Chardonnay) creates the perfect mix of Leelanau wines. The winery itself is a charming place off M-22, just South of Leland and basically across the street from Lake Michigan. Its been a local, family owned operation since the beginning and you can always find a friendly and knowledgeable staff member in the tasting room. Its not uncommon to see the winery owners in the tasting room mingling with customers or giving a lucky customer a «behind the scenes» tour of the winery itself. If you are headed on a Leelanau wine tour, a visit to Good Harbor is simply a must. Great People, Great Tradition, and Great Wine!

Not friendly at all until the time to pay and tip. Our server made a point to say she was not feeling good(great and you are serving the public). The wines were nothing thrilling. There are better wineries on the trip. Skip it!

When you go to vineyard, you don’t really expect too much. You go there to taste & purchase some wine, and maybe even acquire some interesting facts like how the wine was made, etc, etc, blah blah blah. So the overall experience was not stellar and not what I was expecting. You walk in and it’s a room with a bar where you stand and you taste. No tours that I knew of, and nothing interesting. We ended up with a very rude menopausal woman who decided she did not like us b/c we accidentally took a tablespoon sample of fish chowder that was reserved for another group — it was an honest mistake. She poured maybe a few drops of wine into the cup and then proceeded to roll her eyes and make every effort not to give us anything beyond one word answers. Meanwhile the couple next to us was getting double pours and the guy behind the counter clearly was having a good day. We were in and out of there in 15min, maybe even less. One star earned for the mere fact that they had wine. 1 star for letting me keep the tasting wine glass that I used, nice. Nothing too amazing and reasonably priced. Some of their wines are too sweet. They lost 3 stars b/c of the wretched woman that works there. Go to another vineyard, there are a ton.
