Quick bite and satisfying! Ordered a burger and it was cooked perfect and was flavorful. Fries were the shoestring variety and crispy. Waitstaff was attentive and nice. The only drawback, the damn flies that bite your ankles while you eat. A little annoying to say the least. Overall, the food was decent.

Not worth it, went in had to wait for a waiter(one came after I went and requested one), then we waited for drinks(at this point considered leaving but did not want to be rude). I continued waiting some more for the appetizer, no plates were brought out with the appetizer, finally we get our meal, the meal for two was only brought out on one plate, had to ask for a second plate, the cornbread which is included was never given to us, the service was lacking in all aspects, not worth the 1 ½ hrs we wasted here, there were not many people and no clear reason for the terrible service, seems that they just do not know how to manage their staff, it was a complete waste of time, the food was mediocre, ribs were blah, pulled pork needed more flavor and the chicken breast was just as boring… don’t waste your time!

Bummed… i was passing through for work and came to this joint on a wednesday night about a week before memorial day. It was one of the only places open and serving food at the time. Not busy what so ever… some people sitting at a table and a couple at the bar. Took a seat at the bar and ordered a sam adams seasonal and the barkeep gave me a full glass of foam. I kid you not… a full glass of foam. By the time it settled the beer barely reached the upper section of the sam adams glass. So basically half a beer on a good day. We joked about it and im thinking there is no way she is charging me for half a beer. My dumbass ordered another… and again she gave me a full glass of foam, which settled down to half a beer. So basically i got one full beer out of two glasses. Ordered some mozzy stix and a buffalo chicken salad which were pretty good. But back to the beer situation… who serves full glasses of foam? Not only serves full glasses of foam, but charges full price for them? When i got the bill i couldn’t believe that some mozzy stix, chicken salad, and two glasses of foam were $ 31. If it were busy and in season i could almost let it slide, but it wasn’t…give your one patron in the place the benefit of the doubt and not charge for glasses of foam… or better yet pour the foam into a pitcher. I don’t know… maybe I’m overreacting, but after a long day i was looking forward to a cold beer… not foam. I thought about giving 2.5 stars(if it was an option) or maybe 3, because the food was pretty good and the bartender was nice. But given the amateur status of the beer pouring and everything overpriced, I’m sticking with the 2 star rating.

This restaurant was terrible! I don’t know if it was because of the off season or what… We ordered basic fair fried chicken sandwiches, the best burger and a crab cake. We waited 45 minutes for the food. I got a grilled chicken sandwich that was raw, and a burger that was raw. We were charged 47 bucks for our meal. When I paid with credit card it came back as a 121 dollar charge. The waiter corrected it no problem. I just got our credit card statement we were charged $ 175 for a terrible meal. Really weird place!

Ribs were over cooked and dry. Cornbread was served undercooked and cold. Waitress was so rude told us they were not expecting a group of 6 to request separate checks.

The fact that this place has any 5 star reviews is incredible. Act 1 We walked in to what looked to be a clean, well kept establishment. That’s largely the extent of the positive. We stood there, party of 4, waiting to be addressed by anyone from the staff, for about 5 – 6 minutes. Upon waiving down the server we were told that they were«slammed», waiting on 3 tables and a bar that was«over run» with, 10 or so, calm patrons. We were told that there would be an undetermined wait and so we turned our attention to the bar for a drink. The woman tending the bar was visibly displeased with our presence when she became conscious of our being. We asked for 3 Labatts and a guiness and we’re told that they don’t serve Guiness and usually not beer on a Friday at 8pm because they’re usually closed… on a Friday at 8pm… mind you this is despite the clientele and the guiness tap in clear line of view. Not looking for an argument we settled for 4 Labatts. Act 2 A few minutes later we were requested to take our seats by the young woman who would be tending to our table. The ordering and dinning was farely uneventful. We ordered 3 pulled pork sandwich platters and 1 haddock sandwhich, with tartar sauce, on the side. please. I’m sure it comes with tartar sauce on it but we would like some more on the side. Extra? That’s fine young lady. We’re at a restaurant not a fast food joint. The pulled pork sandwiches were absolutely fantastic. The fish sandwhich however was obviously pulled out of a freezer bag minutes before it was served. Around 8:40, a few minutes after being served the lights around the bar and out front were shut off. Act 3 We quickly wrapped up and asked the waitress for the check which came to $ 50 and change. We had 50 in cash and to avoid a lot of individual change I asked her to put the remainder on a card, through which I would leave a tip for our group. She smiled, nodded and left only to return a minute later with the kicker. she had closed our bill and told us that the she wouldn’t run the card. She closed the leather booklet with a snap and indifferently threw a quarter on the table closing with ‘here’s your change’ as she swiveled away from our table. After a few seconds starring at each other in disbelief, we left.

Went there for lunch after riding the warren county bike trail. After we ate I was surprised it wasn’t busier. The pulled pork was very tasty as we’re the fries that came with it. We all enjoyed our meal.

I thought the food was incredible. Service was just OK. It’s what you would expect from teenagers that are sipping beer all night. Price was great as well. Get the ribs and steak fall off the bone good. No complaints from me. and thats odd:)

The food was ok/decent to pretty good. Not a fan of their coleslaw and corn bread was too dry, but the ribs and pulled pork were VERY good. What BBQ place doesn’t have BBQ beans for a side? This one. Service was really lacking. Our waitress acted completely distracted and indifferent. Seemed to like to hang out, disappear or just check their phones by their area. Dropped food off and even though two empty bone dry glasses almost touched her forearm, turned to leave without asking if all set or offering more. Cornbread and another side was forgotten. Had to be waved down and stopped for everything. Table was sticky and over the meal would see why. Facing the waitress area watched them wipe down 30 tables with the same rag thrown into a slop bucket on the floor. Now i bused tables and understand they have cleaner in there(i hope) and it saves money, but after a few tables with a bucket that size at least change the water because at some point you reach a saturation point of BBQ sauce to water and you get… sticky dirty tables.

4 picky eaters had great meals! Waitress was really good and hustled! Good atmosphere. We haven’t had the best luck with good food and good service in Lake George but this place is somewhere we’d go again. –Picky from Connecticut!

The staff here just likes to hang out and you can clearly see they really don’t care much. We had seats right next to their counter and they hung out there the entire time. We felt like they were breathing down our neck but not in the good way. Also it’s not great when some of the staff starts asking the other waitresses if they could get porn on their computers. Sigh… Food is mehh. Ribs are mehhh. Pretty dry. I’ve had MUCH better ribs at Dallas Barbecue. Also had a chicken caesar wrap which was pretty good. Again a little dry, but you really can’t mess up a chicken caesar wrap… I’m giving this two stars instead of one due to the fries. The fries are really good! Both regular and sweet potato!

Bland uninspiring food. Had the chicken wings, the BBQ chicken. Wings were too salty. Sides were dreadful as well, sautéed veggies were barely boiled. Won’t go here again.

If you’re up in the southern Lake George area, PLEASE, stop here. Once you get yourself a spot in the very narrow parking lot(be very careful if you don’t want to get a dink on your car from a neighboring car), you can opt to sit outside in front of the restaurant, or a small space indoors that has about 8 tables. Be prepared, because if you choose to sit inside, you will smell all that buttery goodness from the freshly popped popcorn from the carnival style machine beside the bar. Mmmmmm. Delish! Just remember to save your appetite for the main entrée. I ordered the Ribs and pulled pork($ 18.99) and I was glad that I did. The meat on these award-winning(whether or not they were, I consider them to be) ribs would stick to the bone but would fall off the bone as soon as you dug your fork into it. The ribs were neither too dry and leathery nor were they too soft and mushy. The ribs were not doused with sauce, which is usually a gripe of mine, but rather just enough rub to make a perfectly thin crust of sweet and tanginess on these meaty yet very flavorful ribs. Oh boy, I’m telling you these ribs were delish! But let’s not give all the glory to the ribs. The decently sized serving of pulled pork was also very tasty, tender, and moist. Pour a little of their homemade BBQ sauce and I was in heaven. Complimenting the protein was corn bread, cole slaw and a choice of two sides, which I chose Baked Beans & Sweet Potato Fries. — Baked beans had just the right amount of smokiness, the beans firm yet soft enough to mush in the mouth. — Sweet potato fries were crisp and semi-sweet, yum. — The Cole slaw was fresh and definitely homemade. Not your typical cole slaw. Light yet tasty. — Corn bread was very fresh. By this time I was extremely full, but I had to try the Chicken Wings(10 wings for $ 9), ordered Mild. These wings were my ideal kind, crispy skin with a subtle kick of spice and the sauce very lightly poured on. I can’t stand wings that are just covered with sauce beyond recognition. Mmmm mmmm mmm… What wasn’t there to like about here? I really can’t find any dislikes. Service was great, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She always seemed to come by at the right time for extra napkins, drink refills, etc. The owner/manager even came by to see how things were and we all had great big smiles unable to talk because all our mouths were stuffed with food. Decent price, good portions, it’s a match made in heaven. Take the short drive out here on Route 9. It’s far from being classified as one of the tourist trap restaurants that are all cramped in the heart of town. And it’s FREE parking! It don’t get better than that. When I’m in town, I will be sure to come back to Smokey Joe’s for my BBQ cravings.

Fork-tender BBQ pork ribs. This is a great place to just hang out with friends and/or family and have some good food and beer. Really casual place with some patio seating. Service was great. Prices were reasonable. They serve up a big bowl of popcorn while you are waiting for your food. BBQ pork ribs were super tasty and fall-off-the-bone tender. We also tried their pizzadilla(flour tortilla used as a pizza base) with pulled pork. The pulled pork is definitely another item you should try, whether in a pizzadilla or in a sandwich or a platter. It was really tasty and tender also.
