What the heck? Saturday night and the place isn’t serving anything. The small bar was full and no one was looking at us or greeting is to answer any questions.

Winning! We stopped in here hungry and thirsty after traveling all day from Oakland, California. There was 1 bar patron and the bartender, BeBop. He had a great selection of spirits that we thoroughly enjoyed sampling, especially the hemp infused vodka. BeBop served us up some clams, chicken tenders, and hand-cut French fries that were all completely excellent. What a treat at 11 pm when everything else is closed! We later learned that the Lake George McDs is the only one in the country that closes«for the season.»(Note– if you go to LG off season, be prepared by bringing snacks for your hotel room). Not that I would be caught dead eating McDs, just a reference as to what’s available in town.. L

I’m glad other folks enjoyed this place, but our experience was very different. We arrived here to find the place deserted except for 2 – 3 people at the bar. We were surprised to find that the place had a very bar-like feel — a bar that happens to serve food rather than a restaurant with a bar. The floor was dirty and unswept. Even though this place is off the beaten path, there is no parking lot, so be sure to bring quarters for the meter which runs 7 days a week until midnight. Service was perfunctory but adequate. The bartender who took our order was unsure what they had for sides and they had no specials aside from steamers. No other seafood was on the menu. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich, ribs, and coleslaw and beans as a side. The pulled pork was overdone, had very little flavor, and large pieces of gristly fat. Easily the worst pulled pork I’ve had. The roll was stale and had an aftertaste of blue cheese, and was toasted but greasy. The baked beans were watery, but the coleslaw was great. Sides came in tiny plastic containers like the ones you get for condiments. The side of barbecue sauce tasted exactly like KC Masterpiece — clearly not homemade. Disappointed as we were looking forward to a down-home experience with good food and a casual atmosphere. Instead we found bad food in a sketchy bar with a decidedly unfriendly vibe for out-of-towners.

Overall, I’m glad that we stopped here. The smoker smelled great from the outside. One issue was that we didn’t notice a parking lot for customers, so we had to pay the meter directly outside. No big deal, just not ideal. We went in, it had a cozy, local, biker vibe. There’s a decent sized bar and a few tables for those eating in. At first, we were unsure of the arrangement– do we seat ourselves? Can we eat at the bar? The staff was very kind. When the bartender sensed that we wanted to eat, she welcomed us to sit at a table(we first ordered drinks at the bar). As stated, the menu is simple but covered all the key bases for a BBQ joint. I got a half rack of ribs with 3 bean salad and coleslaw. My boyfriend got the pulled pork with baked beans and coleslaw. Prices were very reasonable for the portion. 8.50 for the sandwich and 10.75 for the ribs(tax included) The food for good quality, we definitely enjoyed our meal. I wish it had a bit stronger flavor, but that’s personal preference. I’m not 100% sure but I think it is Cash Only. We didn’t ask about credit card. There was an ATM inside if needed. Cool, unique joint different from the tourist traps of Lake George. Glad we stopped!

I was in town for the Americade with friends, looking for a good place to eat and came across this place on Unilocal with one great review. I usually don’t go to places with that limited of a review but something was telling me to go so we did. Not a fancy place by any means but had a great feel. It’s a converted old house with the first floor made into a bar/BBQ. The menu is simple and written on a black board. Each entrée comes with two sides. The entrees were reasonably priced for the amount of food given. I really enjoy pulled pork so I ordered that with beans and potato salad. The pork was so delicious and tender served open face on a toasty roll. The sauce was simple with no zing but it worked well because of the smokiness of the smoker the cook the meat in. I rave about the potato salad, oh my so good and may be the best ever. It was loaded with crispy bacon and it had red onions in it. I wanted to bring some home for later but we didn’t go back as planned earlier when we were there. The beans were ok but would try something different next time I get there. My friends had the baked half chicken, one also had the beans and the other one had the tomato salad which came in a small dish but she said it was good. Like myself the both got the potato salad and liked it. The service was good and the food arrived prompt. Would definitely go back.

Great bar/bbq… Much more than you would expect looking outside in. Smoked ribs and steamers were excellent! Healthy portions and great vibe.
