I’ve been going to this place for 15 years. Of course 15 years ago it included the Starbucks site, and served pitchers of beer and awesome philly cheesesteaks. For as long as I can recall, the really cool southeast asian clerk has been stellar. That’s why I return. Tonight I popped in for a bag of ice. More expensive than Albertson’s, in the same lot, but quick, and I get to say hi to the cool clerk. Not tonight. I get my ice, and a new guy, a young Arabic fellow, informs me that using debit or credit for anything under $ 10 has a 50 cent fee. This is a first. I know, 50 cents isn’t a lot, but in a cashless society, it adds up when you are already overpaying for liquor store convenience prices. I’ve used my card there for as long as I’ve been going there, and have never had to pay that fee. It just irritates me. 50 cents, by the way, is a 20% fee for a $ 2.50 bag of ice. Village… you’ve lost a long time customer, because you’re a greedy opportunist who knows little of customer service. Lost a customer over 50 cents. Pathetic.

I love GOOD Swedish vodka. By that I don’t mean Svedka or other pretenders. I like Rokk unflavored vodka. BevMo used to carry it, now they don’t. I probably bought the last several bottles of it in Orange County. So, I called Rokk and asked them where I could find the 1.75 L bottles(plastic yet) in the OC. The first place on their list was Village Wine & Spirits. I walked into the place and all they had was the 750 ml bottles. So I bought all they had. They then ordered several cases of the big bottles and I buy a couple every time I’m in the neighborhood. Hopefully they will continue to keep me supplied. Thanks you VWS — gotta have my Rokk.

This is the story of how I ended up driving here weekly from Irvine. I used to go to Jolly Jug Liquor in Tustin, horrible place. But, this place in Lake Forest, sold me on their awsome customer service and why I now give them my business and my money instead of the liquor store in Tustin. Story below is about how I used to go to Tustin but now drive to Lake Forest. Story of Jolly Jug Liquor and their HORRIBLE customer service: I have been going here for over a year. Every week, I go in and buy $ 12.00 worth of lottery tickets. My weekly pleasure… and I make no excuses or have shame in my little weekly pleasure. The Asian lady and the Asian gentleman are always rude, week after week, after week. The lady will sometimes say, «GOODLUCK», when she is in a good mood. The service is awful, but I have luck here, so I put up with their horrible attitude. I’m disrespected every week, week after week. Today, will be my last time stepping a foot in their store. A young Asian man works here sometimes, and he is always so nice and full of smiles and great attitude towards others. The older Asian couple, you need to retire or sale the liquor store, you are full on anger and hatred towards others. It makes me sad to watch you weekly be so miserable to the people of Tustin. It should not be like this, business owners should be grateful for each customer. I drive here and it takes me 15 to get here, because they are my lucky retailer. But I can’t no longer take their rudeness. I watched them for a while now. They are rude to everyone, I drive here from Irvine and sometimes wonder if they are miserable due to the kind of customers they get being that they are in the bad part of Tustin. Regardless, there is no excuse for unhappy miserable people who ruin other people’s days with their negative attitudes. Both of you need to retire or take a MANNERS course, you need to be more sensitive to your customers. You just lost a really, really good customer, that has put up with your crap for more than a year and has watched you be RUDE to others. They may not have a choice, but I have a car and will stop my patronage of your liquor store, effective immediately. I will now drive to Lake Forest, where the owner is always so nice to everyone. I always WIN here!!! There is always a line of nice people, the guy takes his time with each customer, the place is thriving with life and a positive owner that takes his time with each client and is 100% professional and kind. Unlike the two of you who really need to learn some MANNERS in your OLDAGE, SHAME, SHAME on you. —VILLAGEWINE&SPIRITS— here I come, and I look forward to giving you $ 600 a year or more for my weekly pleasure to someday win the CA Lottery. I had to give you one star, but it was by default and not by choice. I give you ZERO stars and people of TUSTIN take your money elsewhere. Dont’ support hatred and rudeness.

A typical liquor store in a typical strip mall. Hey, I didn’t win the lottery so it just can’t get 5 stars. :( The staff was very friendly, but everybody was lottery dreaming and wishing and seemed in good spirits, staff and customers.

I feel like an alcoholic writing a review for a liquor store… and big one at that for giving them 5 stars too!!! But this place is wonderful, I promise!!! This liquor store is tucked away in a little strip mall right next to Starbucks. You could go get you caffeine overload, than go next door and get your buzz all at the same stop! Great. Anyway, Village Wine & Spirits have an amazing selection of drinks… ones that you normally can’t find anywhere else. I found an already mixed Margarita for $ 1.99 that I couldn’t find anywhere else in the area.(and it was STRONG too). I also found a Caption Morgan Parrot Bay beer. I LOVE that stuff, and haven’t found it anywhere in at least a year(the last time I found a Caption Morgan Parrot Bay was at Costco about a year ago, and I haven’t seen it there since.) Caption Morgan was $ 2.99 for one pint, sweet!!! Store is always clean. Staff is always funny and friendly. I always get carded when I go get alcohol… I think I’ll always look like a 19 year old(but, hey, it’ll be ok when I’m like 50, hehe). I was ready with my ID when I got to the counter… but the guy working just looked me up and down and asked«how old are you?!» I said«25.» And he looked around and said«ladies and gentleman, she’s 25!!!» Haha. I handed him my ID anyway, just so he can check. But, heck yes… I love how friendly and trustworthy he was!!! I will be coming back Village Wine and Spirits when my inner alcoholic wants to come out. :P
