I can see why this store is closing Sept. 15th. Purchased a cherry pie there for a party we having over Labor Day. When it was time to serve the desserts, cutting into to cherry pie was a real surprise, not a nice red cherry, but a ugly purple cherries that were so sour no one could finish a piece. One of my guests commented the pies at Costco are better. Needless to say, we were very embarrased, but still saved the day because also served our homeade cheesecake. Returning the balance of the pie to the store, we were told the cherries have not been good now, and offered our money back… it’s not the money I told her. Why would they sell a cheery pie that they knew wasn’t up to spec. Suspect there Lake Geneva store has the same MO.

Just stumbled on this place today and wow! Bought a cherry pie for hubby’s birthday and it was the best cherry pie we ever had. We have been to Door County every summer and tried them all and this takes the prize. I also bake my own and I can’t make one this good. Two thumbs up for a terrific product. Can’t wait to try more pies!

I have never hated Unilocal as much as when we discovered this little known gem — because my life and waistline will never be the same again. With the holidays coming up, we needed some pies for dinner.(You didn’t really expect to make pies from scratch, did you?) I jumped on Unilocal and did a search. And what did I find? A brand new pie company had opened in Lake Forest. Not many reviews but they were glowing so I thought we’d give them a try. The shop is a tiny store front. If you weren’t looking for them, you just might drive right on by. There also wasn’t some big kitchen in the back. I spoke with the woman working. It turns out that her folks run and own the Lake Geneva Pie Company which has operated for a number of years in, where else, Lake Geneva. She was actually the daughter of the owners and the pies are made daily in their 30,000 square foot facility and then brought down to Lake Forest. She was very friendly and sweet in answering all of the questions my husband lobbed her way. We decided to try the berry crumble pie as well as the rhubarb pie. I can’t tell you how many people claim that they have found the best rhubarb pie around. It must be the Texan in me but generally those are so bland it’s all I can do to politely nod. These pies smelled and looked so wonderful I couldn’t wait to have them. Holy heaven above! The berry crisp was delicious and disappeared from the dessert table way too fast(I was rooting for some leftovers but not a chance) and the rhubarb was just the right balance of sweet and sour to make you smile and slightly pucker at the same time. I have found my new dessert place! If you don’t live in Lake Forest, trust me it is worth the drive. Some places you drive for the right cupcake or birthday cake. This place is the store you will drive to for pies. Oh geez. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about ‘em.

We love this place. The Berry crumb is especially yummy and their pies are very fresh. The staff is very helpful and we love bringing the pies to the in-laws house for Christmas and Thanksgiving. Yum!
