Good Choice Sushi

This was the first time I went here and it was good, but it didn’t meet all of my expectations. My favorite thing I ordered was the happy roll. I think its neat that they have some of the appetizers literally floating on water on little boats. It’s a really neat idea! I was disappointed because they don’t have a lot of salmon rolls and salmon is my favorite. The items are fairly priced, but of course I would prefer it cheaper. They do have special deals on certain days for rolls.

I used to love this place, but their service is starting to be very slow and not so friendly. If you order online they won’t have your food ready for over 45 minutes because they just didn’t check their online orders :/​there’s a gal there who makes the sushi and she’s very sweet and takes care of the customers better than the other staff.

Recommend the female sushi chef she is absolutely amazing. love this place !!!

My favorite sushi restaurant pretty much of all time! They’ve got so many good rolls to choose from and the service is great, everybody is really friendly! Some of our favorite rolls (in order) 1. Chuck Norris 2. Hula roll 3. Popcorn Shrimp roll 4. Kalikimaka roll 5. Yellowtail jalapeño. Go, go go try good choice!

I’ve been here twice in a week and was pleasantly surprised by how good the rolls were. I was hesitant on trying the place because of the name of the place. I did the AYCE and my favorite was the sumo roll, which was burrito style that came with eel sauce and mayo/​sriracha for dipping. I also tried the Ohana and Happy roll, which were also very good. I’ve been to other AYCE and the quality of the rolls are not as good as Good Choice and the selections of rolls are better. I will definitely keep coming back here, especially for the AYCE on Mondays and Tuesdays

This place have a great deal on all you can eat on Mondays and Tuesday’s for only $ 24. Lots of selection but … Here it comes…
Make sure you order it without the ponzu sauce or ponzu sauce on the side. The fish and everything was fresh but they doused it with ponzu sauce that was so sour and strong that it killed the taste of the rolls. We ordered 4 rolls right away and all had ponzu sauce which kind of killed our experience. We did try other rolls that didn’t have ponzu and they were delish but to get the chef’s attention so you could order takes about 10– 15 minutes in between.
We were probably there for almost 2 hours for dinner and we didn’t really order that much because we couldn’t get anyone’s attention and we were at the bar!!!
Very disappointed really!

I’ve eaten/​been to a TON of All-​You-​Can-​Eat Sushi places in my day, so I think I have a pretty good handle on what to expect from this genre.
They only have All-​You-​Can-​Eat on Mondays & Tuesdays nights between 5 – 9:30 PM.
(Also, the deal is only good at the Sushi Bar)
I went there for my birthday, which happened to be a Tuesday. Now I know when a place only has this kind of deal on certain, nights, you better get there early.
Sure enough, we waled in right @ 5:00 and got the last 3 seats at the Sushi Bar.
Bottom line is the rolls were different and fresh, fast, not that creative (they almost throw them together), but hey, when you literally have a line out the door, you gotta fill-​em-​up and get em out. And I don’t mean that in a bad way.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE! This is a place where you get EXCELLENT VALUE for a REASONABLE PRICE! We went on a Tuesday (all you can eat offered on Mon and Tues only; Sun, Wed, Thurs is cheap hand roll day). My fav was the crunchy roll which has shrimp tempura bits, sesame, and furakake seasoning on the outside and shrimp tempura, crab meat, cucumber, and avocado on the inside (8 pieces is $ 7.50). The California roll is 8 pieces for $ 3.90! There is revolving sushi at a large bar format which is where you sit for all you can eat– wasn’t a fan of the bar format for sushi, but they do it right here! That way you get to see the variety of sushi coming along on the strip in case you want to try it, and if you do, you just grab it! The bar format is awesome because you can just talk to one of the sushi masters and explain what you want. New fav place– Also the owner was the one making our sushi. We didn’t even know until we asked about who the owner was! Very down to earth guy helping to make sure everything is excellent quality.

A couple days ago I happened to be in the Laguna Niguel area when the craving for sushi hit me. I found Good Choice Sushi, read some of the reviews, and decided to give it a try. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made!
The restaurant is located in a strip mall next to an Albertson’s so you should be able to find it and there is plenty of parking. The inside of the place is kind of small, but it’s clean and inviting.
I ordered the Happy Roll and it was a flavor burst of awesomeness! The sushi chefs definitely know what they are doing.
The best part about Good Choice Sushi is the waitress that served me, Ayumi. She made my experience one to remember! She seemed very happy to be helping me and she was quick to get me anything I needed. I know that I’m not the easiest patron to deal with, but she couldn’t have been more welcoming and she even joked around with me a little bit. I will be back for the food, but I’m really hoping I will be served by Ayumi again!

Just moved to the area about 3 weeks ago. I was looking for a small simple restaurant, nothing too fancy. Good choice sushi was exactly that! Great, easy atmosphere, great food. The staff was all very nice and friendly. I will definitely return!

I run in and grab a large Poke bowl from them when I can! They do take-​out and OMG the portion size is MASSIVE. Good tasting Poke with white rice and assorted raw fish. It’s the perfect place to order for lunch. For $ 11, you get a large takeout container, miso soup, and a side salad. Such a good deal!

Great choice for convenient sushi. Decent prices and super nice service. It’s a go-​to for when you want to satisfy your sushi craving, but don’t want to drive outside your ‘hood.

Sushi and rolls were delicious! All the fish were fresh. My favorite were the scallops, they were sweet. We went for the AYCE and got there before the dinner rush (5pm). The line went out the door for AYCE so go early. Definitely one of my fav place in south county.
Service was great but it got crazy during dinner rush. Totally understandable for a small sushi place. Just means that the fish will be fresh.

My husband won a gift certificate in a raffle, and since he’s not a fan of sushi and neither is my mom, I took my dad for his birthday. I had never been there before so I wasn’t sure what to expect at all.
The inside is rather small, with the chefs in the center and seating around the sushi bar as well as a few small tables against the wall. You can order off of the menu or choose items off of the little boats that float around the center seating. We opted for All You Can Eat, because why the heck not?
The sushi quality is great! We tried mostly items off of the boats, but you can also order AYCE items from the menu if you don’t see them coming around. The boats didn’t really have much of a variety, but it was pretty slow when we went, and we were going to a movie afterwards, so we couldn’t stay too long. As we were about to leave I noticed more different items coming around.
There were two stand-​out items that we tried. The Baked Scallops and the Poke. Both were outstanding. Poke is something I usually get when I’m in LA, and I was really excited to find a great place to get it in South Orange County. The fried calamari was also rather good, but even the plates that had just been put out were not fresh and hot.
The highlight of the night was when the whole place sang happy birthday to my dad! They brought him some AMAZING ice cream that I assume was green tea flavored, and we gobbled it up. I will definitely be back for more of that.
All-​in-​all this is a great casual sushi spot for date night, ladies night out, or even to grab a quick bite before a movie. The staff is friendly and attentive, the food is great, and the prices are awesome. The downside is that it’s very small, so it can get packed easily, and if you get there too early, the AYCE variety isn’t very diverse.

They need to rename this place Great Choice Sushi.
If you love sushi, then you definitely have to check this place out. I’m here almost every week to pick up take out orders for my coworkers and myself. Good portions at a low price. Can’t really ask for much more. The gentleman, Yasu, is always so polite and helpful.

Food was excellent, rainbow roll, crunchy roll, spider roll, happy roll, and mokkori roll.
Happy roll was very different than any roll I have eaten, a little spice with a lot of flavor.
I will definitely come again and if you come between 3 – 5 pm Monday through Friday they take a couple dollars of each roll. Rolls are large in size as well !

I give it five stars for great sushi good prices and decent service. The boats with sushi ready to eat as soon as you sit down is awesome.

I came here again and service was lacking big time. Sushi guys totally ignoring you, no water offering, had to ask them about 4 times for water. They gave water right away to two teenage kids who probably do not tip good. I tip good for good service because I am in the industry. They got nothing the other night.

Want great, fresh Sushi? Good Choice is the place! My fav is The Happy roll with Soy paper. And the Kalikikamaro (with Soy Paper of course).
Very friendly, attentive staff. You will always be greeted with a Joyful Hello and a ‘Come back soon!’ Get there early on the weekend, Many are aware of how good their Sushi is!
Oh! and All You Can Eat on Tuesdays for $ 23.00! Woohoo!
