I usually like eating here, but tonight I was eating at the bar and right in front of the bar tender I pulled a long hair from our appetizer! Yuck! I was very quiet about the whole thing, expecting it would have been taken off the bill. It was not. There were two obnoxious men sitting near us while we ate, smoking their e-cigarettes like it was no thing, even exhaled toward us and the bar tender and nothing was done. I finally had to ask her to ask them to stop smoking!?! The whole thing was very strange!

It’s average Italian American cuisine. I can’t figure out why the outside always smells like sewage, but that’s besides the point. I know many regulars that love it for its convenience, but it’s not a destination. Service is always good and the choice of wines could be better. Food is always prepared well, but the flavor doesn’t make me crave to come back over and over. It’s ‘convenient’

Tried them again. The mussels were excellent. Not a bit of grit in any of them. The fried calamari was tender. All in all, quite a good meal.

If I could give a 4.5, I would as I reserve 5s for special occasions. The portions are always good here, and the quality of the food is usually amazing. I have to say if you go here, order from the specials menu. They are always extraordinary and generally better than what is on the regular menu. I’ve gone here for restaurant week and their specials were great then too. Good value and a nice feel to the restaurant. Nearly perfect!

Great interesting menu. Generous wine pour. Pleasant décor. Outstanding meal of zucchini flowers, veal, mushroom ravioli. Will return and try other menu items. It was difficult to decide.

Great atmosphere, great food, huge portions, great service. Highly recommended! I had the pork chop with vinegar peppers and it was the best I ever had!

We ordered fried calamari as an appetizer which was good. I had veal parm with a side of linguini which was very good. My friend had the Ahi tuna salad which was also very good. Nice atmosphere and the waiter was excellent. Limited on bottled beer selection so I had a rum and coke lol. Also they give you chick peas in a good dressing.

This was the second time to ever dine here and since the first time was over a year ago and was good we thought we’d go again. The tossed salad was good. The flat bread app was good. The entrée wild porcini mushroom ravioli was terrible. And I mean terrible. The sauce was reminiscent of chef Boyardee crossed with the gooey Chinese sauce of sesame chicken yes you read that right — not Italian/Tuscan– and awful… so very salty and truly hard to eat. We left it over, feigning fullness, took it in a doggie bag and threw it in the trash outside the restaurant. Not sure why we took it as leftovers. We felt bad I guess. Plus it is «restaurant week» in the Hudson valley so you would think they would try hard to be better. Also forgot to mention the bread served in the beginning was brought cold we had to ask for it to be warmed and no olive oil or butter was given. There was a chick pea and red pepper snack served with the bread that was tasty but hard to eat because chick peas roll around. Overall, we will never go back. Too bad because it’s close to home.

Carlo’s is pretty much what you’d expect — a very run of the mill red sauce-type Italian American joint. The interior is surprisingly nicely appointed, given its strip mall location. The menu pricing reflects the upscale ambiance they’ve attempted to create. Our service experience was excellent, very attentive and friendly staff. The food itself was fine, but nothing was extraordinary. The portions are monster, and perhaps justify the pricing structure — we had enough leftovers for another full meal the next day. I would say that the chef has a light hand with the salt, but otherwise the simple stuff that’s on the menu is executed reasonably well. Not haute cuisine, not high-style Italian. But not too bad, either.

Best Italian food I have ever had. No matter what you order it is full of flavor and fresh. Everyone who works there is wonderful and they don’t rush you out. Great experience from beginning to end. The food and quantity is worth the price!!!

We have eaten at Carlos on many occasions and the food and service are exceptional and consistent every time. The owner is very warm, friendly, and attentive. It is always busy because people know good food. Thank you! Dave & Kathy P.

I read the reviews and decided to venture out on a weekday to ensure an optimal experience. The food was excellent. I had red snapper, couscous salad, and broccoli. My dining partner had the margarita pizza. We shared an arugula salad. All were delicious. The service was adequate. We had to ask for bread, which was served w garbanzo. Our waitress made every effort to please but never made a call back once the main corse. was delivered.

I’ve been to Carlo’s in LaGrange twice. Once to eat lunch on a Saturday and another time to pick up a pizza to go. I can only comment on their salads and margherita pizza, since that’s all we’ve eaten from there. FANTASTIC. It was so delicious when we got pizza there for lunch that I returned within a few weeks to take out a pie. Salad also very good. Prices are reasonable for a nice restaurant ambiance. Service for lunch was very good and staff was friendly. We had a great waitress/server. I didn’t even have to ask for a refill on my ice tea — as soon as I was finishing my last sip, poof! She appeared with a new one. She was very prompt in taking our order and always came by to make sure we were doing OK. We were very pleased. Will definitely return for eat-in and take out, too! Glad we found this place.

The best italian restaurant in this area. Fried calamari is amazing, so tender, but rings only and no legs. I have never had a bad meal here. Portions are generous. A little pricey but defiantly worth every penny.

My mom and dad took me here my first night visiting in NY. They know the owner and we got excellent service. I had the ahi tuna entrée salad and it was fabulous. I loved how the place was decorated and it had such a lovely ambiance. Would like to go back the next time in NY,

I feel compelled to update my previous review. We have been to Carlo’s 8 or 10 times since my first review and while I still think the food is outstanding, I feel I need to complain about the service, or lack there of. We have had exceptional service and we have had mediocre and we have had awful service. There seems to be no real organization with the servers and it is truly hit or miss. Tonight for example we had bad service! I honestly never tip less than 15% of the total bill but I had to leave just over 10% tonight. Not sure what the issue was, there seemed to be a couple in the corner that were VIP’s for what ever reason and it really seemed to monopolize our servers time. It is all well and good if you have friends in and want to treat them special but not at the detriment of a loyal customer. All I know is after we finished eating we sat there for 15 minutes waiting for our server to return. It was only after my wife basically shouted half way across the dining room did she come over. We asked for our check and handed her a credit card immediately for fear of being left sitting there for another half hour while we waited for her to pick up the check. It is not like this place is under staffed there had to be 5 servers and a couple busboys working there. It is always a shame when the service does not live up to the food. Oh my god i just read the one and only review on Carlo’s and i have to say these people are clueless! We could not have been happier or more impressed with the hostest to the bartender and most of all Bobby our waiter! The food was truly outstanding and the service was in a word perfection! As busy as they were last night we never felt rushed or ignored. the funniest part was both the bartender and our waiter said to save room for dessert and we were glad we listened to them! And to be perfectly honest we really thought the bill should have been higher! I have dined in many restaurants and have worked in the industry and I can say without reservation Carlo’s is one of my top 5 restaurants in Dutchess County! We loved this place and certainly will be back!

We stopped here on our way up the Taconic, as we have had great experiences with other restaurants in the area. The décor is pretty nice, despite it being small and located in a shopping plaza, which is why we expected the food to be better than it actually was. Nothing original about the menu or the food. Pricey for the actual quality. Most likely will not try this place again for a while.

Undecided — somethings were great, others not so great. Went to Carlo’s last night for the first time based on a recommendation. Ambiance: lacking, it’s in a shopping mall — although the interior is clean and new, there’s something missing, it’s not cozy at all Food: Mixed– meatballs were excellent, sauce was awesome, calamari was excellent, frutti di mare also excellent, the pesto and chicken, not so good. very dry and chicken was a bit tough. It was supposed to be fusilli, brought out some other sort of limp pasta without telling me, which was annoying. Peanut butter Dessert was phenomenal. Service: lazy, slow on refills(had to ask for a second beer), didn’t bring dessert tray to our table to show us the desserts, didn’t seemed engaged at all in our service. Bathroom facilities — each only serves 1 at a time, major inconvenience, plus waited 10 minutes for what turned out to be a kitchen worker to exit… turn off Cost: pricy — $ 9 drinks, $ 10 apps $ 18 entrees, $ 6 dessert

A friend told me that Carlo’s had good food. He said it was a noisy place, but impressively good food. So after a long car trip, my family and I figured that we would order a few pizzas to go. What a disappointment. Worse pizza that I have had in years. I have to say, the place was packed which suggests that it has good food just as my friend mentioned. It was noisy too, just as my friend mention. So noisy that I’ll bet it is frustrating to talk and listen. Anyway, our pizza was to-go. My recommendation, if you are thinking about pizza, don’t get here.

We are huge supporters of local businesses and spend our money with that Philosophy in mind. We wanted to like this place so much and for the most part it was good. The décor is really nice and the food was good. A few things they really should consider changing are: 1 — The hostess, she left us standing by the door while she took a phone order! Who does that? It was so awkward that the owner finally came over and sat us down 2-i replaced my side of vegetables with pasta with garlic and oil and they charge me an extra 3.95 for that! really? Not good. 3-the bread was cold! It’s a simple thing that goes a long way, serve HOT bread. Hope they refine these things and I may give it another try.
