They were great. VERY knowledgeable about my car, a 2003 911. Knew more about the car than the dealer service rep and other shops I spoke to. Focused on what I needed, not what the dealer wanted to do for me. Work was completed efficiently and professionally.

First, Valhalla Automotive is not closed, it’s very much open for business. Took my Boxster toy for a quick ignition switch change as recommended by Pacific. John was simply great and took the time to explain the reasons why this particular part wears off faster than others while impacting other systems such as the A/​C blower, headlights and wipers. Reminded me of known Saab electrical system gremlins, ha! Oh, went down the street for lunch and by the time I returned, the part was already installed and the car ready to go. Great service from an honest Porsche mechanic.

Why is Unilocal saying Valhalla is closed? IT IS OPEN.
I wouldn’t take my 997 anywhere else for service. John is trustworthy and has saved me a boatload of money over the years (especially versus what the local Porsche dealerships want to charge)

I have to give this place at least four stars — I had such a small issue — I could not find the key to remove the wheel locknut on my 911. John had me come in and tried all 30 keys (of course it was the last one) and I had my wheel with the puncture off in a minute. He also didn’t want to charge me a thing which of course was silly so I donated to the cookie fund, but all over it was a really nice experience — I felt like an idiot going there but left feeling that I had a new place to service my 911.

John has done a great job taking care of my car. He serviced it for the first owner and now me. I am so appreciative for his great work. He diagnosed a very serious problem with my car and it has been running fabulously ever since. You can rely on John to fix your car and give you great honest advice. His charges are reasonable and I leave feeling confident the work has been done well. If you need his services, you can rest assured that he will take care of your car.

John doesn’t suffer fools but he sure fixes 911’s! I have a 22 year old that he immediately knew what the problem was — fixed it and a leak plus some minor things that he only charged me the parts for and not the labor.

For the first time ever the car runs. not 100% but the info and direction that John gave me is priceless. I do still have work to do. & plan on having Valhalla do that work.
He only charged me a low amount and really feel he worked on it more than that.
Yes … I have seen the stories, but come on … it is a 2 bay shop and he needs schedule well, and have customers who respect that. I will return when other work is needed and I highly recommend him.

After talking to John on the phone, I had my 911 towed in for an engine problem diagnosis, for which I was charged $ 200; I was told before hand that the shop had to time to work on any repairs we decided on. After the diagnosis, which later turned out to be ‘just plain wrong’, I was told by John that I’d have to leave my 911 at the shop and that they wouldn’t get to repairing it for 3 weeks!
At the cost of my time, and additional towing expense, I took the car out of Valhalla and had it worked on elsewhere. The problem was then diagnosed correctly and repaired to my satisfaction. It turns out that Valhalla had even diagnosed the problem to have been in the wrong area in the engine.
Hmmmm…do you care to take a chance on Valhalla… well punk, Do Ya?!!

Valhalla is the best. They really understand the balance between keeping the machine in perfect working order and keeping the expenses reasonable.
Whenever someone needs BMW or Porsche service, I direct them to John. Sometimes, I’ll even recommend before being asked. :-)

Absolutely the best independent Porsche and BMW service in Conta Costa. Good mechanics, good prices, and fair service.

Silly me… I drive a little German car that needs a lot of TLC. Foolish me… I used to take my car to the dealership for expensive tune ups. Smart saver me… I now take my little car to Valhalla. This independent repair shop is a real gem. Valhalla has been in business since 1974. The owner is honest, fair, and quick. He usually has the job done by day’s end. The best news is the repairs are much CHEAPER than the dealer and done with better care than other independents. Yeah! Love this place.
