I had been here years ago and remember it being pretty good. Sadly that has changed. The service was verrrry slow and not terribly friendly. So much so that 2 other tables left before even getting their food. I took my son for pancakes and they were good, but I can go anywhere and get pancakes AND good customer service. I had a mexican frittata that tasted pretty good, but was very greasy and later just made my stomach hurt. Foods ok. Service ok. I’d say eat elsewhere unless those things don’t matter to you.

Very mediocre Mexican restaurant. Service was not good this morning. We waited a long time to order and then waited for 15 minutes after we were ready to go and had to ask for the check. Ordered huevos rancheros and the green chile was good but there was hardly any on it. We also had chips and salsa. Salsa was poor just tomato sauce with some green onions thrown in. Potatoes were previously frozen, not fresh cut. Overall, this place was a disappointment.

Huge fan!!! I went here for the first time today. Bought 6 meals for my team and it was only $ 36. The food was great and the service was friendly and speedy. I will be back many more times.

We had a big group go in for breakfast on Saturday morning. I love Mex food and was so excited to stuff my face with huevos rancheros. Unfortunately, the sauce was not listed as being full of pork, and I am not a pork eater. Very disappointing. I ate around the sauce and the food was fine, but wish the menu was clear about the green chile sauce being a meat based sauce. The coffee was also not the best. All the others in the group loved their food. The portions are very large and most people took home half their meals.

The food is excellent and very inexpensive. Where else can you get breakfast for $ 2.99 or $ 3.50 with bacon. The staff is very friendly and attentive and the food is very tasty. I would not go here if I was in a hurry, but it is great for a lazy Sunday morning. I am looking forward to trying their lunch menu.

No, don’t do it. Cold chips and watered down salsa. Green Chili had nice heat, but you had to spoon off the gAs 2nd2eeb and cheese covered everything.

Yum! I went here today for lunch, I liked it so much I may have to go back tomorrow :-) The restaurant was nice and clean and the staff was very nice while busy @ the same time. The chips and salsa were awesome! Fresh chips and salsa with a nice kick that wasn’t overloaded with onions. The Tamale Plate was a huge portion! The 2 pork tamales were smothered with green chili and it came with rice & beans — some of the best refried beans I’ve ever had — and I’ve eaten a lot of Mexican food in my life :-) What I am going back for are the soft shell tacos. They were simply ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese, and they were amazing! The ground beef was perfectly seasoned and not greasy and the lettuce & tomatoes were fresh. Add all of that to a homemade tortilla and you have some very tasty tacos! Also, their breakfast menu looks amazing, I am sure it is worth a try. If you want great food at an awesome price in a no fuss atmosphere, definitely come here!

Service was extremely slow and inattentive. We came here and ordered a simple breakfast on a Sunday morning about 11:00, when the restaurant was about half full. It took about one hour and 20 minutes, including about 15 minutes waiting for the check. We finally gave up, went to the front, and asked for our check. The food was OK but nothing special.

Been here twice for breakfast and I really like the place. Nothing fancy — just the way it should be for breakfast. The Mexican omelette is awesome, and breakfast potatoes are some of the best you’ll have. The prices are great, and that’s a rare thing these days.

Apathetic wait staff, drab décor and limited Mexican food on the menu. They have lots of American style breakfasts with a slight Mexican adaptation. Waited far too long for a waiter and the subsequent drinks to arrive even though the restaurant was filled and wait staff was standing around using their phones. The salsa tasted like it came from a 20 gallon bucket at Costco. Much better options near by. We paid for our drinks went to cads Allegra I’m Louisville and had a great lunch

Three of us met for lunch. The food was great, what a value, you can count me in as a return customer. Try the chile relleno it was over the top my wife had the relleno burrito Next day… Ok we could not stop talking about the chile relleno so we went today. It was fantastic, if your in need of fancy décor and high prices this is not you place. Nothing but great food here.

$ 6 Beef nachos. Portion was huge with ample amount of guacamole and sour cream and a whole side dish of fresh chopped jalapenos. We would come again!

Love it that the huge menu is available all day… I’m finally able to scratch my hamburger-for-breakfast itch. The food isn’t amazing but it’s certainly satisfactory and there’s always a table available. Staff is nice and food arrives quickly and hot. A nice, basic restaurant in the heart of Lafayette.

5 stars for great breakfast place. Staff wonderful and portions generous. Green chili very good – big chunks of pork in a green chili broth … no thickeners here. You can eat a healthy breakfast if you want … they have oatmeal with berries and skim milk. But if you want a bigger and cheesier breakfast, the skillet meals are mmmmmmm. Best table-service Mexican breakfast in the area since La Familia closed. Very reasonable pricing, too. Can get away with a filling breakfast for $ 3.50. They have shady outdoor seating in the summer, too.

Wow! This restaurant seems to have taken over the old Casa Alvarez. I am always ready for some good Mexican food, and a new restaurant to try. My sweetie and I walked in with high hopes for lunch. The menu was very confusing for a Mexican restaurant. One choice was fried catfish, another was a chile relleno burrito. Some food had gravy, other food had green chile sauce. The menu was written on posterboard and hung on the wall as well as being printed, both menus were confusing. The service was very slow. The kitchen didn’t look super clean from where I was sitting. The servers station was about 3 buffet tables with table cloths in the back. Weird set-up, and detracted from the ambience, even for a dive diner. All of this would have been ignored if the food was amazing. It was not. The chips were greasy and served in a dirty plastic bowl. The salsa was mediorcre(at best). I ordered the tamales plate, with rice and beans. The tamales tasted microwaved, the beans were grey with weird crusties on the edges, and the rice was watery. Everything was covered with a pound of cheese. My sweetie had a beef burrito. He had the same experience and complained of «freezer burn». I expect a Mexican restaurant to make better burritos than I can at home with a package of burrito seasoning and 80⁄20 ground beef. The amazing part of this, is the place was packed. The highlight of the meal was the big smile our waiter gave us and friendly staff. After eating and driving for 15 minutes, my stomach forcibly removed the food from itself. I felt much better afterwards. I won’t be going back to Señor Gomez. I really hope they are just having a growing pang, and other people have a better experience than me.
